Jane was taken aback by the sudden appearance of Flamsteed, and by the man's question. Dear elements, what was wrong with the man? He looked like death warmed over, and a far cry from the confident, if somewhat curt, man she'd seen back in the Hall of Prophecy.

"Er...I did have an appointment, sir. I requested your office in the Entry Hall at the agreed upon time and it deposited me here. If you have other matters to attend to...I could make another appointment and come back later." Though she'd already been trying to get an appointment for so long, Jane inwardly winced at the prospect of starting yet again.

"Uh...Jane Howard? Department of Mysteries, Alchemist?" she continued, helpfully--the man was busy and met a lot of people, perhaps he still didn't recognize her on sight, though it had been nearly a year since she started here.
