The reality of the situation didn't take long to sink in, it never did. At the ripe old age of nine, Niko was a seasoned professional when it came to understanding and accepting reality. He was a seasoned professional - or close to it - in loads of things, actually. Or at least destined to be one.

One of those things was swimming. Or supposed to be.

Niko was a natural in swimming. Or supposed to be.

His jaw set, he looked anywhere else. Anywhere but at the silver medal draped around his neck.

Second place.
