Why thank you. You look very dashing yourself." Peering past him at the fanged geranium she warned. "Adam you should take a few steps away from that geranium or something bad will happen." Regardless of security spells, some plants had other ideas and she didn’t want to see him get hurt.

Distracted by Mariana Adam didn’t hear Laurel’s warning in time to stop the fanged geranium from biting him on the backside. ”He!" (oye) he exclaimed. He moved away and immediately attempted to inspect his backside, only with his eyesight being so terrible, he couldn’t tell if there had been any damage to his clothing. The chomp was likely to leave a big bruise. He wasn’t sure which would be worse to explain to Zita. The bite-looking bruise or the damage to the shirt she had gotten him.

So much for the plants being docile! Maybe it was just him that fanged geraniums didn’t like?

He’s with the Minister’s office.” The Ambassador took the ginger ale with a word of thanks, as his eyes one again found Valentin who seemed to be busy. He hoped the other Ambassador wouldn’t try to talk to him.

Sachin started to follow Conley when suddenly he realised just how hot it had gotten. The new, unexpected heat made him want to take his jacket off. He was just about to ask Conley if he noticed the temperature when he smelt something like Jasmine. That’s when it hit him and he quickly turnt to see the changes of the plant that had just occurred. “Con. Look!’’ He grabbed his husband’s arm to get his attention.

All of his interns had been good hard workers that Conley would have been happy to hire, if they applied to DIMC. Especially Brody and Holy. Both had been pleasant and eager to learn and exhibited signs that they would excel at working with other cultures. ”Good for him. I’m sure I’ll see him around Charles’ off at some point.” He’d go over and say hi tonight, but the young man looked swarmed with admirers already.

If Conley thought the greenhouse was warm when they entered earlier, now it was sweltering. Still, he was busy trying to plot his way through the crowds in order to avoid say hello to his boss and so he didn’t realize what was going on with the corpse flower. With the heat the way it was, why was Sachin grabbing at him? ”What?" Was someone dying? "Sach wha- Merlin’s soggy bottoms. What a smell?!” It hit him then, what Sachin wanted him to see. He turned at Sachin’s urging to see the plant starting to open. Soggy bottoms indeed. It smelt a bit like a week old dirty diaper. He wished he had a handkerchief

It wouldn't really be her if she didn't trip over something at a party. "Whoops, sorry about that." Alba added steadying herself and joining Vale at the bar for a drink.

"So listen ... I've been thinking...." Alba wasn't sure what to do about her thoughts .... or how she felt about them. Valentin had become her best friend, she really didn't know anyone else, and though she loved him for who he was, she often found herself in mixed feelings over him. She drifted between friendship and something more regularly ... something she was sure Vale knew about but was a gentleman and didn't say anything at least not directly to her.

"I think we need to get out there and meet people." There she said it ... she wanted a boyfriend ... she wanted to start dating again. "So ... let's find some handsome gentleman and flirt crazily tonight." Okay ... Alba had to admit if it wasn't for the glass ... or two of wine she had at home before coming she may not have been as brave and bold about that statement.... if she had had anymore she might very well have told Vale she wanted to date him .... it was a happy medium right?? Well maybe not.

Valentin hadn’t been prepared for Alba to stumble, but he quickly steadied her with his other hand. Given their history, he should have probably passed on the spin, but he had been trying to be fun. Sadly, fun was not something that people usually associated with Valentin, perhaps this was why. ”Steady on…”

And speaking of steady on, at the words ‘I’ve been thinking,’ Valentin felt a chill run up his back. In his experience, nothing good had ever come from those words. A few of the conversations that contained those words started rolling through his head. ‘So I’ve been thinking…we’re better off as friends.’ '...you should invest in this-'‘ – white wine is far superior to red…’ ‘…about puppies –‘

Valentin helped himself to a cocktail while Alba gathered her thoughts and then stood quietly giving her his attention as she spoke. ” 'ave you been drinking?” he asked, but quietly so that nobody else in hearing range might mistake his question and thin Alba had a drinking problem. Where was this coming from? Had he ever stopped her from flirting? Had he somehow, despite being very upfront with her when they met, given her the wrong impression? Or maybe…yes. She was probably just looking for a wing-man! Flirting? Flirting Valentin could do. It was the relationship part he had a problem with.

”Eet might be a big 'ard haire. Ai think we are ze best lookeng ones haire, non?” He looked out over the crowd, eyes landing on Singh who was with….Phora. His eyes narrowed a little. Where was Singh’s petite but highly spirited fiancé? Minnie? Ginny? Surely he had brought her along? Maybe he’d go over and ask. Singh always did seem to enjoy their exchanges. Okay, maybe Valentin got a bit more pleasure out of pushing Singh’s buttons then like cared to admit.

And then Valentin spotted a young man who looked promising. ” ’im?” he asked Alba, indicating Milo. He was talking with a lady, but didn’t seem to be here with her.

And before he could do anything else, Valentin was hit in the face the smell of poisse de Bourgogne (the world’s stinkiest cheese). ”Quelle odeur,” (What a smell). He waved a hand in front of his face as if he could waft it away.
