WIZENGAMOT
The Wizengamot functions as a combination of court and parliament. It is made up of around fifty members. Aside from the judges and the Head Warlock, there is a Court Scribe that records the proceedings while the Wizengamot is in session. The Minister for Magic, Senior Undersecretary to the Minister, and Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement have been known to attend significant trials and hearings. This division is made up several different roles ranging from entry level positions to the honoured position of Wizengamot.

SPOILER!!: Duties carried out
This division is responsible for:
  • Creating, passing, declining, repealing legislation that affect the British wizarding world.
  • Trying cases and passing out the suitable punishment in cases of crimes. (note: small scale crimes that require a day or two in prison are handled and sentences passed by the Hit Wizards. Wizengamot deal with the heavier crimes that carry sentences in Azkaban for long periods of time).
  • Dealing with matters that will affect a wizard's ability to continue using magic (i.e infractions that result in wand snapping and a ban from further magic).
  • Prosecutors will be responsible for bringing evidence against the accused in such a manner that there is no room for reasonable doubt. The following are considered circumstantial evidence and must be backed by other forms of evidence:
    • Testimony of ghosts and other spirits.
    • Testimony extracted under Veritaserum.
    • Information gained via divination or the Sight.
    • Information gained via Legilimency.
