Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ Dark Brooding Girl ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll

Heath listened intently as Professor Eris spoke again, He was right; going to Hogwarts did make it impossible to get to a costume shop… which was why Heath owled his mum and dad over a month ago about his Halloween costume to make sure it got here in time. It didn’t matter if there was nothing happening on Halloween. If nothing else, he could just wear his costume around the common room. Understanding dawned in his eyes as he heard the instructions. Oh, so that’s why the parchment and colored pencils were here! Were they going to transfigure their drawing into actual costumes when they were done? That sounded hard! Was that even possible?

It didn’t take long for Heath to decide what costume he wanted to draw; he’d known he wanted to be Luke Skywalker for months. The real question was which version? He had the lighter-colored costume upstairs in his dorm, but was it really designing a costume if he was just copying one that he already had? He decided to draw the black outfit from Return of the Jedi instead. He liked that costume better anyway, and none of the shops ever had the black outfit!

Now came the hard part, the actual drawing. Heath wasn’t a very good drawer - Ariel was the artist in the family - but he’d give it his best try. He started by gathering all the colored pencils he’d need: brown, peach, green, silver, and black… lots of black. He drew a sort of egg shape for his face and filled it in with simple features; drawing faces wasn’t his strong suit! He started to draw his natural hair but quickly decided against it. Nope, the all black outfit with his long dark hair would look too much like Kylo Ren. If he was going to be Luke, he needed a wig or spell to change his hair. He picked up a lighter shade of brown and filled in the hair.

Then he moved on to the fun part, the actual outfit. He carefully drew a long-sleeved shirt with a high collar and sketched a hip-length vest-type thing over the top, paying attention to each fold. Picking up the black pencil, he filled in the shirt and started to do the same to the vest. Wait, if he used the same color for the shirt and the vest, it would be too hard to see where one stopped and the other began. Instead, he used the darkest shade of gray he could find to color the vest. When he finished, he paused to look over his work so far. Hmm, not bad for his limited drawing skills.

Heath picked up the black pencil again to draw the legs, trousers, and knee-length black boots - real leather ones, not the flimsy cloth shoe covers that came with the muggle costumes. He surveyed his drawing again and felt something was lacking. The belt, of course! How could he forget? He drew a black belt over the waist of the vest, complete with a silver square sort of shape for a belt buckle, a functioning pouch on one side, and a clip for the - That reminded him, how was he going to draw the lightsaber? He’d originally planned for the figure to hold it, but he was awful at drawing hands! The one he had so far looked more like a paw than a hand. In the end, he decided to draw it off to the side, rather than try to put it in the figure’s hand, so he finished off the figure’s right hand with a black glove.

Next to the drawing of himself in the Luke Skywalker costume, Heath sketched a silver cylinder decorated with black accents and a long line of green at the top for the beam of light. Hmm, he wondered if it was possible to build a lightsaber that ran on magic. That would look so much better than the plastic, battery-operated ones! When he was done drawing, he gave his work a final check before adding the following description at the bottom of the page:

SPOILER!!: Heath's description
