You know, what with the pens and the weird covered rail and the text on the board.

Maybe it wouldn't be the worst Monday afternoon. But even so, could he squeeze in a nap before everyone else arrived?

Looking up as the door opened, Carwyn gave Mr Kowalski a smile. ”Good afternoon.” The man said, noting the nod but wondered if the boy was awake enough for class today. The young man did know that he was expected to give his all today. Yes? Hmm. In the middle, okay.

Ah, it was nice to be greeted with a smile. ”Good afternoon Miss Jenovick.” He watched her take a seat at the front and nodded, anywhere would work today.

SPOILER!!: Drewett

He'd never miss a class or seminar regardless, which is why he was entering the large classroom for today's seminar.

....Yes, he also noticed the feet. Drewett's eyebrows furrowed at the sight of them. This was strange. Then he saw the word on the board, and it quickly reminded him of just how close they were the Halloween. He was especially looking forward to the themed food for dinner on that day.

"Good afternoon, professor," the seventh year greeted the man with a polite nod, before finding himself a seat. He was fairly certain that they would be working in groups for this seminar. The set-up was quite obvious. Drewett hoped his friends would come.

Still smiling, his hands lazily crossing the front of his robes, the Professor nodded at one of the seventh years. ”Good afternoon, Mr Gunther.” There was a nice bounce in his step today. Mmhmm. Carwyn appreciated the energy.

SPOILER!!: Tom

Tom then remember his manners. "Afternoon Professor, Hope you are well today." He then went and sat down.

Carwyn almost spoke over the boy, since he had expected the typical ‘afternoon Professor’ in passing. Chuckling slightly, the Transfiguration Professor shook his head. “No, Mr Simpson. We aren’t going trick or treating today… but I’m well thank you. I hope you are as well.”

(Well, his grandma's brother technically, but still).Without Nova at school anymore, Alexandre felt lonely sometimes so it was nice having family at Hogwarts.

After the greeting Alexandre was immediately distracted by the curtain. What was behind it? He had to know. He stared at it for a few seconds, as if trying to see through it. Of course, that yielded no results. His gaze then moved to the blackboard. Halloween? That sounded fun! Alexandre liked Halloween! Dressing up and getting candy was always a good time. He made his way to a desk near the front of the room, then looked back at uncle Carwyn. "Are we going to color?" That's what it seemed like, judging by the papers and colored pencils. This already seemed like it was going to be a very fun lesson.

Carwyn chuckled at the welcome, his head shaking slightly and obviously amused. “Afternoon, Lex. Hope you had a good lunch.” They would need it today, it was going to be a busy lesson. His eyes twinkled at the question, a smile pulling at his lips. “Perhaps we are, perhaps we aren’t.” Which was as helpful as a chocolate teapot and not an answer at all.

Taking a seat excited and 7ready to start the class he took a look around to see who was at his set of desks.

“Good afternoon, Mr Blake.” The tall man said easily as the boy walked past him without saying hello. Hmm. He did look like he was ready to learn though, so he would let him off this time.

But she was here. And trying to look anything but so obviously sleepy.

Smiling at the professor, she greeted the man, "good afternoon professor," before deciding to go sit with the first person she saw; Drewett. They were definitely going to be doing a group thing - and who better to be with. At least until Eiji arrived.

"hello hello" she smiled at the older boy, before settling down besides him. "slow Monday, huh?"

”Ah, Miss Renald. Welcome.” It was always nice to see the Prefect, especially since she always seemed to give 100% in his classes, which admittedly was all he hoped for as a Professor.

SPOILER!!: Avalon

And by the looks of it, today's Transfiguration lesson might have something to do with that.

"Good afternoon, Professor Eris," Avalon said with a wave as she plopped down next to one of her housemates, Alexandre. She greeted him with a friendly nod before her eyes landed on the colored pencils. Would they be COLORING today? Now that would be pretty awesome. "How has your term been so far, Alexandre?" she asked the fellow Ravenclaw. She had been so busy lately with her assignments that she hadn't had much time to socialize with her housemates.

Chuckling at the girl he wiggled the fingers of his own hand back at her. ”Good afternoon indeed, Miss Sinclair.” His eyes took in where she sat, giving Lex another smile, before his attention was pulled away rudely at the sight of the next student who was moving through the classroom.

SPOILER!!: Cora

"Don't worry," she announced to the Professor, holding her hands up and swallowing what was left before flopping ungracefully into her seat. Cora Dredworth had about as much poise as a mountain troll in the ballet. "S'all gone."

Almost all of it anyway. All of it except that little bit of pickle still on her chin.

An eyebrow slowly raised as he surveyed the girl who was eating and walking all at the same time. Had she not read that there was to be no food in his classroom, or had she read it and ignored it? Either way, it was not the correct way to enter his classroom. ”That’s three points from Gryffindor, Miss Dredworth. There is to be no food within my classroom. In the future, please finish your lunch before you step my classroom.” Don’t make him take points for such a silly thing that could have been eaten in the corridor.

There is still a ton of possibilities but she can't be too sure to what it is. She can tell it is going to be a fun class.

Giving the professor a smile, she greeted "Hello, Professor." before taking a seat near the corner left.

Ahh, another Prefect. Carwyn inclined his head towards Miss Kim, his eyes pulling away from watching Cora and the food that was still visible on her chin. Someone needed to give that girl a hint. ”Good afternoon, Miss Kim…”

Maybe he'd make an exception to the no food rule just this once? Maybe.

Spotting an older Gryffindor, the second year went RIGHT over and took a seat by her, deciding it'd be good to make friends with some more older kids from her house. "Hi." Hello. She'd be sitting here!

The bounce in the girls step wasn’t lost on Carwyn, and she reminded him of his own daughter Morgan and it was a trait that Delilah had picked up from her mum. Smiling widely as the blondes smile was contagious. ”Hello, Miss Summers.” He did like seeing his students in a good mood.

SPOILER!!: Claudine

For some reason, she hadn’t been that hungry and practically had to force herself to eat. Upon entering the room, she first noticed the rail and that purple cover. Her expression remained neutral as she turned it to her Professor. “Good afternoon, Professor.''

A glance at the seating arrangements had her inwardly groaning. She would have to sit with others. How unfortunate. At least she will be avoiding Blake. “Hi, Fiona,’’ Claudine hopped onto the seat next to her dorm mate and only then looked at the board.

Halloween?

”Ahh, good afternoon, Miss Blaze.” He saw her look around, and smiled as she sat with another second year. Carwyn liked to see them sitting with their friends, after all learning should be fun - just as long as they still concentrated when it came to applying themselves. Too much disruptions and he would need to rethink the seating, but for now, for this lesson specifically, it would be fine.

But they were all set up in groups of four.

The Ravenclaw froze on spot just outside of the classroom door, blinking at the sight and pursing her lips ever so slightly. Before she entered the room, she wanted to spot at least one person she knew with whom she could sit. Otherwise... no.

It was a good thing Cecelia was already there and it didn't take Catherine too long to spot her blonde best friend. Ignoring her mother's advice to at least try and make new friends, the first year made a beeline towards where Cecelia was sitting and, trying to ignore the fact she would be sitting with two Gryffindors - Merlin help her - Catherine took one of the remaining seats in their group.

It was only then that she realised she hadn't greeted the professor, and by now it would be too awkward to say anything. Of course her face turned bright red, even though she tried her best to push the thought aside.

Urgh, what a start to the afternoon...

Ah, another quiet student. Carwyn kept an eye on the girl incase she turned to look at him, but when she didn’t he didn’t call her out on it, thinking that was more cruel than kind. He’d seen you, Miss Mordaunt and you were welcome; greeting or not.

SPOILER!!: Carsyn

Carsyn ... too similar if anyone asked her and could easily be misspoken.

Catching glimpse of the word on the blackboard, Carsyn was reminded that meant costumes and she still had zero idea what to dress up as. Why couldn't halloween be like when they were kids and you could just dress up as your favorite cartoon character? It seemed to require much more thought the older you got, as you were expected to pull off something zany and fun, whilst simultaneously looking attractive too. And if you were coupled, then couple costumes were to be expected. Of course she had done a "couple costume" with one of her best friends last year, but it was different.

"Good afternoon, Professor Eris." She greeted, making a beeline for the remaining seat at Cora's desk cluster along with Cecelia and a first year Ravenclaw that Carsyn didn't really know yet but was sure she had a brother who was a first year gryffindor "You should go as a pickle monster for Halloween, Cor." Cause she was already halfway there and also, that was her hint of saying she was wearing half her lunch.

It didn’t escape him, that the purple cloth was grabbing most of their attention as they walked into the room, but that was okay. It was a gorgeous colour, and it was velvet. What was better? ”Hello, Miss Rose.” He was just away to turn and say hello to her sister, when he heard the comment to Cora about the pickle on her face. Hmm. He had been wondering how long it would take someone to mention it.

Especially since she had so much to do between fitting in Quidditch practice whenever she could use the RoR, helping to fix up the Hufflepuff garden and, of course, her prefect duties. The weekend had gone as well as it could have, but there had still been a bit of Monday-itis in the morning.

It had mostly passed by the afternoon, though, so she was relatively excited for the seminar as she’d made her way over to the classroom, slipping inside with a smile and making her way over to an open grouping of desks. “Good afternoon, Professor Eris,” she said once she’d settled into her seat, giving the man at the front a smile. Even more of one once she noticed the drawing supplies in the center of the cluster of desks. Between the word inscribed on the blackboard and the colored pencils, she figured the lesson was going to be interesting.

Turning away from the conversation that Carsyn was away to have with Cora, Carwyn raised his hand to wave at Carys. He returned the smile, a twinkle in his eye at the fact Carys’ smile grew as she had sat down and seen the art supplies. ”Ready for today, Miss Rose?” He said, chuckling slightly. Oh, it was going to be interesting alright.

The last thing he needed was any sort of confrontation about something that didn't matter; he was liable to absolutely lose it, and that was the last thing he wanted (or needed) to happen.

Without saying a word, though managing a short nod towards the Professor - this was probably expected at this point in the term, his usual polite greetings had long since gone out the proverbial window - Kaiser entered the classroom. It took him a second, if that, to get the lay of the land, as it were, before he silently took up a place at one of the tables.

Joining Drewett, as it happened. Oh, he got the usual stab of guilt, same as every other time he saw Drew or someone said his name or what have you, but... well, his mind was on other things today. Which was its own brand of terrible, but did at least mean it was not too difficult to be near his Ravenclaw fr-... acq-... associate.

Ahh. Kaiser. Interesting, yet always a nice addition to his classroom. The older man watched the young man moving through the room, settling with Mr Gunther. His gaze held or a moment or two, as if trying to check that he was actually in one piece, before he turned back to welcoming more students.

Oh, groups. Curtis shrugged, being a team player was a new thing for him. But it was cool, because it meant he didn't have to put as much effort as when by himself. He decided to sit near the other Slytherins for today.

He smiled at Curtis as he entered the room. ”Hello, Mr Fuller.” He saw that grin. He did, but he always watched the young man moving into the room and taking his seat without making a fuss. So there was nothing else to worry too much about right now. For now. That grin reminded him of his own son Connell whenever he had been planning to sneak out of this house at night… hmm.

An unsettling feeling settled into the pit of his stomach and he couldn’t help but wonder what this had to do with the lesson.

If there was a body there........

No. No no no. He wasn’t thinking about it.

Looking away, his eyes caught onto the Professor and he tried his best to give him a smile. "Hello, Professor." Turning around, he glanced around the room and he couldn’t help but feel something drop in the pit of his stomach. Group work? They had to work in GROUPS?! Uggggg-

But it was then that his eyes landed directly on someone he knew very well and suddenly, the idea of working as part of a group didn’t seem so bad. Except, this ~someone~ looked a little tired, from what he could tell. Amused, Lucas made a beeline for and sat down right next to him. And as his duties as the boy’s best friend, he gave him a sharp nudge on his side and whispered, "Wakey wakey!"

”Hello and good afternoon to you, Mr Dakest.” the Professor said with a smile, noting that at least one person had noticed the feet of the rail. It was all in good fun, right? Halloween had its charms. If he’d been at home, the house would have been decorated, he at least needed to have some kind of fun for Halloween while he was here at Hogwarts.

SPOILER!!: Kodee

It was unreal, as were lessons after lunch—and at 8. School needed to have a better balance, he wasn’t sure he was cut out for this, even after nearly 7 years.

Entering the room, Kodee grumble!mumbled something like a greeting to the Professor, his hand half lifting in a wave before flopping back to his side.

What was this? Group work? Fours? Only one spot left by Kaiser? With only marginally more pep in his step, the 7th year moved over to the table that held his friends and that Ravenclaw girl. He flopped down, feeling vastly more accomplished than anyone had a right to feel given the limited effort actually expended. “I’m so full I can’t see straight.” He said to the general table. If only the table were bigger. He had Drew and Kaiser here, but there was no room for when Al and Gunnar showed up. Or Kenzie for that matter. There was no room for anyone else.

Was this deliberate? Would the professor really mind if they added more chairs? He had questions.

Carwyn had to work to keep the laugh from escaping his lips at the grumbled welcome and very low-energy wave that he received from seventh year, Kodee Chosen. ”Look alive, Mr Chosen.” He said, a grin spread across his lips even as he noted the young man joining his fellow seventh years.

The first thing she always did when she stepped into a Hogwarts classroom was to take a good look around. You never knew what to expect from room to room, and there was always some surprise hiding behind a sheet or just out of view. She smiled at the professor. "Hello, Professor," she said. In true Hogwarts fashion, there was something just out of her view right beside the professor. Hmm...

She eyed the tables just before randomly selecting one. Ohh, were they going to color today? Fun!

”Ah, Miss Bellchant. Good afternoon.” Carwyn stood up straight, checking the time even as he straightened out his robes. A few more minutes to go, they were almost there! Did he look excited? He was!

And also, she wondered what all the coloring utensils were for. Halloween cards to go with the candy???

She drifted further into the classroom as more and more students arrived and pushed her into the corner of a desk. Oh, well, was this a Slytherin table? She noticed the older boy, the one who had been forced out of Defense class for being late, sitting here... and look who was with him!

"Blake Ryan!' Bernie declared loudly, sitting down across from him with a grin. Well, her seat was chosen. She turned to the other Slytherin too. "Hi, I'm Bernie. I hope we get Halloween candy today."

Ah, another student who always seemed to have a smile on her face, even if she was potentially more hyper than not. Not that he wasn’t used to that from his own children, and he would rather have excited students than sleeping ones. ”Hello and welcome, Miss Grantham.” He inclined his head slightly, smiling all the while as he noted Isla moving to join another table so that she wasn’t sitting alone.

Carwyn couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his lips. He really couldn’t. ”Miss Phillips. Nice to see you so excited for today.” He didn’t have any time to watch her getting settled though as his attention was already moving to the next student who was walking into the room.

As she made her way into the classroom, her eyes flickered towards the strange, purple curtain. She had questions. Several of them, actually. Though she wouldn't be asking any outloud.

She didn't stop to greet her Professor, as was her norm. Though she did pause to give him a polite acknowledgment with a look. It was only then that she turned her attention to the most important task of all: choosing a seat. Immediately she felt drawn to sit by Drewett, but his table was full. While she was somewhat fond of Kaiser, she wasn't particularly keen on that Kodee boy after the way he had so immaturely interrupted their group in the Ministry and she also didn't have the best repertoire with Missa. So maybe it was for the best that there wasn't an extra seat at their table.

She continued scanning the room, next noticing that dumb, disruptive boy sorted into her house. Curtis was a nuisance and there was no way that Nina Castillo would EVER willingly work in a group with him. So no. That was a pass. He would probably find a way to land his group in detention and Nina had done her time last term, thank you very much.

Her eyes brightened when she saw Józef had room at his table, and (IN THE MOST RESERVED MANNER EVER, BECAUSE SHE WAS MATURE) Nina sped over to join him. No one would steal her spot. Thanks! Nina would NOT be caught sitting at a table with first years. Imagine the horror. "Józef," she greeted him with her most dazzling smile, before then turning to Lucas. "Lucas," she greeted him as well, though not with as much excitement. "May I join your table?" She asked the boys while she flattened her skirt.

”Ah, Miss Castillo, welcome.” He didn’t say anything else, but he did note the look that he got and considered himself lucky. Some days, he didn’t even get an acknowledgement until the class started. He would take it. Heh.

The young Ravenclaw’s eyes darted around the room as he walked in, taking in the scene. Hmm… colored pencils and parchment, a rail or something under a purple cover, the writing on the board… Were they doing something Halloween themed? Maybe they were going to color some Halloween pictures; that would explain the colored pencils. If so, the professor should’ve let them wear costumes. Dressing up always made everything more fun, and Heath had an awesome Luke Skywalker costume he was dying to try out!

Heath’s momentary excitement soon gave way to anxiety as he noticed the way the desks were arranged. Great… the only thing worse than a subject he was no good at was group work in a subject he was no good at! Oh Merlin, where was Ariel when he needed her? The thought of having to walk up to somebody he didn’t know and ask to join had him so scared, he almost forgot to greet the professor! “G-good afternoon, Professor,” he stammered, remembering his manners just in time.

HIs eyes scanned the room for a group that wasn’t too crowded, eventually settling on one occupied by a couple of girls who looked to be about his own age (Fiona & Claudine). Taking a deep breath to steel his nerve, he approached. “D-do you mind if I join?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. This wasn’t a girls-only group, was it? Or a Slytherins-only one? He hoped not. That would be awkward!

Ah, Heath. The boy needed a dose of confidence and his magic would flourish, the older man just knew it. Now to get him to feel that confidence. ”Good afternoon, Mr Jonea. He gave the man a smile and a small nod.

And she doubted he would enjoy being covered in pieces of chocolate muffin. So a nod and a smile would have to do.

After noticing the setup, she quickly looked around to find one of her friends so she could join-

WHY HAD CORA NOT SAVED HER A SEAT?!?

Rude.

She gave the other girl a quick pout before continuing her search. Oh. Look. Józef. And Lucas. That seemed like a fun group to join as well. Finally swallowing the rest of her food and licking her lips to clear them of any crumbs, Shivvy headed over to the boys' table. "Hey, can-"

Welp.

Nope.

Was it too late to turn back around and pretend she'd never walked over to their table? Was it? Had they noticed her? But then again, Shivvy was NOT one to back down (who said that Gryffindors were stubborn was...very right indeed) so whether or not they had already noticed her she decided to stand her ground and JOIN THEIR TABLE ANYWAY. "Hi!" And with that she plopped down in the free seat next to Lucas. Yes, she was part of this group now.

Deal with it, Nina.

No, don’t worry Miss O’Shea, you weren’t late. Not yet at least. Carwyn’s eyes flicked over the young woman who was still eating, but her hands were empty and it looked like she was done eating already. ”Good afternoon, Miss O’Shea. In the future, remember to finish eating before you enter the classroom, thank you.” She, unlike Cora, hadn’t had food in hand as she moved through the classroom, and had just been chewing. Not as bad, but still worth reminding.

Finally crossing the doorway of the room she looked around. oh no. Great just great, groups. Turning her head her eyes grew wide feet of some sort. What exactly were they doing today. Then her eyes saw Halloween written and she felt less apprehension. Turning her head she greeted their professor, “good afternoon Professor”

While her apprehension of not liking the feet of what ever was hidden, well it sky rocketed when she tried to find a table to sit at. She was going to join Cecelia and Catherine. But their table filled. Then she noticed Heathcliff sit down at a table with a few others. But her eyes landed on Flynn. He was alone so that looked like a good option since she knew she wouldn’t feel awkward. “Mind if I join you?” She really wished she could wear her muggle clothes so she wouldn’t feel so drab and unassuming. But she hadn’t worn her big bows yet... still trying to get a feel of the professors ya know.

Carwyn hated the look of dread on Charlie’s face, so he gave her a smile as he welcomed her. ”Good afternoon, Miss Rivers. Find a seat, and we will be starting soon.” He nodded, hoping that she would find a seat with some friends out of the places that were left. There were still a few left.

Turning his blue eyes to Professor Eris he waved and smiled "Good afternoon Professor Eris!" managing to keep himself from yawning.

Pondering the table's he finally headed over to the one where Naya and Tom sat and asked kindly "Hi guys, can I join you two?" Seeing Carys sitting alone still he waved over at her "Carys do you want to come over here too? There is one empty seat."

Carwyn grined at the Gryffindor as he welcomed him into the larger-than-normal classroom. ”Welcome, welcome Mr Vance.” He ran his hand through his own hair as he moved slightly closer to the door again.

Unless he got his dad's magical ability, in which case, he'd got ZERO clue what his dad was particularly good at because he did things the muggle way because baked goods tasted BETTER when there was LOVE in them.

But he could fly a broom, so that had to mean he took after his mum right? Probably? But he was a Slytherin, and his mum was a Ravenclaw like Alex. This was, uh, confusing. More confusing than the strange setup of the classroom. But team work? He LOVED teamwork. He was born on a team, with a built-in teammate, which meant he kinda had to be good with it, right? RIGHT.

"Afternoon, professoooooor," he singsonged, and then looking around for people he KNEW. And there they were! There was a table free where Charlie was, and he knew Charlie from class, sorta. They might not have TALKED yet but he knew she existed and he had to assume it went both ways.

" 'llo, guys! I'm Benji."

Just in case that needed saying. Could be confusing, considering there was another guy with his FACE at the school.

”Come on in and get comfortable, Mr Stylinson.” He motioned into the classroom with his hand as he smiled at the boy. ”We will be starting in a minute.” There was another student or two following him, and then the door would be closing.

SPOILER!!: Cassi

It was then she took notice of the Headmaster being within the classroom as well. Great. Just what I wanted. An extra set of adult eyes, she thought to herself as she took a seat. Her arms folded across her chest with a sigh.

School was totally different than the life she knew before. She was not used to being away and around unfamiliar people, some who looked to be muggle by appearance.

Not quite last, but almost, was Miss Nero. ”Good afternoon.” Carwyn said to her, aiming a smile her way though he wasn’t sure she even saw it. He watched curiously as she went to sit as close to the back as possible, and wondered if she would be as shy all year.

Carwyn moved a few steps, stuck his head out of the door into the corridor to check for anyone else incoming, and then proceeded to close it behind him as he turned back around to face everyone; who should be sitting comfortably by now.

”Halloween!” He started, one hand in the air as he pointed towards the board behind him with the other. His eyes were alight, and from the grin that he had been wearing since they had all started to file into the room it should have been pretty obvious that the man loved the holiday. From a fully decorated house, to costumes with his husband and trick-or-treating with his grandchildren (and great-grandchildren last year!) there was nothing better than sweets, costumes and family time.

“Halloween,” Carwyn repeated, this time as he moved back to the front of the classroom to lean against the front of his desk. ”-is an immensely joyful time of year when you are a small child and you get to play dress up before going trick or treating. As you get older, some tend to do that less - but whether you dress up every year, or only when you have a reason too, tell me this…”

He paused. He was a grown up, he shouldn’t be this excited… yet here he was. Mixing two f his favourite things. Halloween and Transfiguration. ”Where do you get your costume from? How early do you plan your outfit? Do you pick something or someone specific before you even start?” He leant back on his palms, waiting for their answers. !!!! Halloweeeeen!. He was excited! He hoped that they were too!

OOC: Firstly, sorry for the delay. My Granda ended up in hospital last night and I spent 9 hours sitting with my Grannie while we waited for him to get admitted. Thankully, he seems to be on the mend, but your patience is appreciated.

Now, class has officially started so if you want to join in, please do so. If you want to catch up please post it under a spoiler unless you want Professor Eris to tell you off for entering the room late.

You will have roughly 36 hours from now to post before we move on again. ^____^ Have fun!
