~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes. Claudine didn’t know what that look was about but she didn’t dwell on it. In fact, she hadn’t paid de Nostredame any more attention after greeting him. Instead, her gaze moved from student to student, most often lingering on Bernie. Her friend? seemed to be getting along just fine without having her, Claudine, around. Then again, that was Bernie; popular and fun and the opposite of Claudine. She was just surprised that Blake wasn’t tagging along with her.
Claudine finally drew her attention away from Bernie. The lesson was about to begin. Aging? Ailment? Yes, those little creatures certainly looked both. Though her expression remained stoic, Claudine was a little sad for the birds. They looked just a bit helpless and it hurt her. She was drawn to creatures a lot more than she was to humans. The Snakette was more interested on the one not on de Nostredame’s extended arm.
When the first question came, Claudine raised her hand. When her turn came, she volunteered, “Their skin might sag.’’ |
