Because he knew how much the missing rocks had bothered Laurel, Adam had in his down-time, scoured Level 9 looking for them. His home department/level had been the only place he’d been comfortable enough to go poking around by himself, which was odd considering most of Adam’s problems had come from poking around on Level 9 by himself. Well, that was only partly true. He hadn’t been alone in the body-snatchers incident. He wasn’t sure why he cared about Laurel’s unease about the pillows. It wasn’t like they were friends…right? Merlin knew that they had a brief history of - well, let’s just say they didn’t exactly exchanging pleasantries. He guessed there was just something about sharing an odd and unnerving situation that could unify people, even if Adam wasn’t sure if that harmony would be long-lasting.
As his solo seeking journey around Level 9 had produced none of the missing rock pillows, he had suggested to Laurel that, if she wasn’t busy, perhaps she might accompany him while he extended his hunting grounds. Because, even with his new glasses, he still had a very hard time traversing areas he wasn’t familiar with.
So with his support cane tucked safely away in an inner pocket with his wand, Adam walked next to Laurel as they walked down the hallway of Level 10. Best to start at the bottom right?
”I heard,” he offered up as simple chatter. ” Someone got stuck in ze lifts a few monzzs ago,” Perhaps it wasn’t the best conversation to have while moving around the ministry, but Adam wasn’t exactly known for his small-talk.
