Isla nodded. "Yeah, like if the fountain had knocked over my ice cream or something like that," she agreed. She'd be really mad if that happened. Although, she wasn't really sure what she could do about if that ever happened. It wasn't like the fountain had ears or knew when somebody gave it the evil eye. Or...did it know? She suddenly wasn't sure if she liked this fountain or not.

So she needed to toss a coin into the fountain? Hmm... Maybe this fountain did know more than she thought it knew. "How does it know all this stuff? Like when you're standing by it or when you feed it a coin?" she asked. Just as the words escaped her mouth, there was a wand pointed at her. She'd never had a wand pointed at her before. She actually squeezed her eyes shut and braced herself, but there turned out to be no reason to worry. "Thanks," she said with a smile.

...but the wandwork actually caused the other girl to yell out in surprise, which startled Isla and made her start wondering what on earth had happened. Was she missing her hair? An ear, maybe? What had that spell cast on her actually done? The conversation moved on, though, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. Good.

So the fountain liked people sitting here, huh? "Well, in that case...," she said, her voice trailing off. Isla fished into her pocket, pulled out a coin, and tossed it in. Just in case this thing actually worked, she made a wish that her first year at her new school would be a great one. Then she sat down. "So what do you like to do in Diagon Alley?" she asked.
