Leaping from his chair, his forward momentum causing it to tumble over, Airey was standing on his desk, accidentally kicking papers in every which direction in a shower of parchment and spilled ink, and sliding to a stop at her side while his deceptively strong scrawny arms coiled themselves protectively around her.
