With a small sigh, he turned to the person next to him and gave them a forced smile “I think my favourite campfire food is something grilled. Fish is pretty good” Granted was most likely not a popular choice, cooked correctly, it really was delicious if cooked on a campfire. Maybe he could convince the Professor to let him cook some today?
Wait, was he.. Talking to him? Or was he talking to her neighbor? It was meant to be a class discussion, but maybe he didn’t specify... Though Phoebe was raising her hand, so Piers just.. Moved on because he couldn’t hear what Ewan was saying.

As for the question, Phoebe raised her hand. "S'mores, sir! Extra gooey ones!"
He expected this answer. In fact, he was hoping for it. ”S’mores, very good.” She would enjoy the activity later.

How could he honestly think any one of his students was behind this??

She knew it would do her absolutely no good to argue though, so she'd been keeping her mouth shut on the subject (mostly). She was just waiting for the Beauxbaton kids to slip up. Especially that one smarmy looking boy. He was just ASKING for Nettie to come up with a reason to report him to his Headmistress.

Wait...favorite campfire snack? Nettie blinked a few times because she had NOT been expecting that as a question. Ok, well...she raised her hand. "I like a good hot cup of apple cider when I'm at a campfire," she answered. It wasn't exactly something you cooked in the fire - maybe you heated the kettle, but that was it - but she wasn't going to go with the traditional s'mores answer.
He wasn’t accusing them, he was just telling them to not LOOK suspicious. But anywaaaaaay... ”Apple cider, yeah. Especially when it’s cold.” It was very good during the winter time.

Brushing the comment off (perhaps the Headmaster had asked Professor Fuller-Thompson to relay a generic warning), she stared at her little twigs, imagining some of her favorite campfire foods. Certainly not hot dogs, but she considered corn, grilled fish, and salmon before ultimately settling on s'mores. "I have to agree with Phoebe, sir," Avalon said after raising her hand, gesturing to the young Gryffindor girl. "You can't beat a good s'more! With a perfectly toasted marshmallow." Not blackened, like her brother preferred. But a nice, toasty, golden brown. Yes, she could definitely go for a s'more right now.
Piers called on Avalon when she raised her hand and nodded at her response too. ”Gotta love s’mores,” he said in agreement.

She probably just had to poke her wand at one of the teepees to make it work!!!!!!!!!

But. For now. She would keep her hands away.... until she had to raise one of them to answer a question.

"I like roasting those little miniature sausages," Bernadette offered eagerly. Ya know, how they got all crackly and bubbly and almost burst. "But s'mores are probably second-best." Savoury and sweet went hand in hand, after all.
Piers had learned to keep an eye on this first year, so he made sure that she was always in his peripheral vision. He didn’t trust her enough to not accidentally start a fire just by looking at the pile of sticks. ”Those are good,” he said, agreeing with her about the sausages.

She did her routine of greeting the professor upon her arrival but other than that she stayed quiet the entire time before the professor began the lesson.

As usual Jillian straightened her back when the professor started and well.... campfires? Jillian looked at the miniature version of it minus the flame sitting on top of her desk. She then turned to look at everyone else, raising her arm a bit after the professor asked a question "hotdogs, professor" she said.
Well, she wasn’t the only quiet one. Seemed like a lot of people were kinda down in the dumps lately. ”Hot dogs are good and perfect for a fire.” A lot better than boiled, that was for sure.

Campfire snack. Yes, s'mores and toasted marshmallows were quite obvious. Mini sausages was a good one too, yet the fourth year was sure there had to be more options. Raising her hand after some deliberation, she settled on, "Mac n Cheese." Because why couldn't you make a comfort food out in the wild. Gotta bring some of home's comforts outside, yes? Yes.
..... Mac and cheese. That was.. Hard to put on a stick, but he supposed he didn’t specify that when he started the discussion. ”Okay,” he said simply with a nod.

That was one of the reasons Elisa had been content with Professor Fuller-Thompson's lessons. She already had a light breakfast and the current topic on food was making her crave lunch already.

Now what did she enjoy at the campfire? Elisa thought back to when her dad would take her with her brothers and sisters camping. "Apple Crisp." she said, with her hand raised. It was so good in the morning with French toast.
Apple crisp was also hard to put on a stick, but again, Piers didn’t specify that. He supposed apple crisp could be cooked by a fire anyway. ”That sounds good.” Did they know how much he liked pie?

Irritation was always just a blink away from anger for him, so he tried his hardest to ignore the feeling and instead stared intently on the set-up on the desk until the lesson began.

... All that stuff about fires, and proof, and best behaviour... well, Kaiser didn't care. He just... didn't care. The Beauxbatons headmistress could kick them all out of her school if she wanted, and he'd be fine with that. He liked Hogwarts. This place did not even remotely compare.

As for campfire snacks, Kaiser had to take a minute to get his thoughts on track. That was... huh. He guessed he never realised that there was a whole category of snacks specifically for eating around a campfire. The many times in his life he'd sat around a fire to eat, it had always been a case of having whatever he could get his hands on, and he didn't think that counted as an answer.

So, Kaiser said nothing, only stared at his tiny unlit campfire and listened. But... what on earth was a 's'more'?
.... Angst. He could fell it.

Perhaps, later, she would sketch it out of her memory. But could she light the thing? It would work for a much nicer sketch if it were lit...

Oh. Mr. Professor should have led with that… like maybe a note somewhere at the front of the class? Good thing she hadn’t lit the thing because she didn’t want to get thrown out of what seemed like a good lesson. Claudine’s eyebrows shot up when they all got that look. What? He thought one of them started it? The audacity!

Favourite campfire food?

Hers were the same as Bernie’s but Claudine chose not to say this out aloud. She rarely talked of herself, you see, unless it were to people she liked and it was certainly never to a gathering of people.

Her gaze? It was fixed on the campfire before her.
This one was quiet too, but that was okay. He was used to quiet students now.

”Grilled bananas?” he repeated, making a weird face, questioning her choice. Grilled bananas, though? It just sounded weird. Grilled pineapple, however, was delicious.

Alright, that was enough about snacks. Piers was getting hungry just thinking about them, and some of them sounded pretty good. But snacks would have to wait. Clapping his hands together, Piers nodded and signified that it was time to move on.

”Okay, now, let’s talk about fire. Clearly you have a miniature campfire on your desk. Before anyone ever lights a fire, they should first know about ways to extinguish fire.” It was already a bad idea that he was letting them play with fire, but he was going to be SMART about it and teach them how to extinguish it. Because apparently no one knew how. ”I want everyone to tell me a way to put out a fire - magical, muggle, whatever.” and then he gestured for them to start answering.

OOC: Thanks for the responses! We're keeping it easy again, just have your character reply to this question. Our activity is coming next. Class will move on in about 28 hours.
