She decided she would keep socialising to a minimum though, with a few talks now and again; she didn't want to come across as rude. She slipped into the atrium in a sparkly red dress that reached her ankles. She wore a white belt at her waist and beautiful white shoes to match.

She noticed the bidding and immediately took a form and filled it in. She was the kind of person that loved these stuff. She bidded for a lot of the things on the form. Once she was done, she slipped the form into the enchanted box. After that, she decided to walk around a bit. She kept to the outskirts of the room. Because she was not looking at where she was going, she ended up bumping into someone (Ryder) who seemingly had the same mindset of not wanting to be here. "Es tut-", she started off in German, and then realised that this was the British Ministry of Magic. She quickly added, "I'm so zorry." Her German accent appeared a bit there as she was speaking.

Ryder was in the midst of mindlessly swirling his champagne around in his glass when out of the corner of his eye, he saw a blur of sparkly red. He barely had time to step away before the woman bumped into him. He spun around, instinctively throwing his free arm out to steady her. Now that would be a good first impression. Knocking a woman to the ground on his very first Ministry appearance. As soon as he was sure she wouldn't fall, he quickly slid his arm back to his side. Slightly awkward, he supposed, but what was he supposed to do? Let her fall to the ground?

Surprisingly, her voice carried a heavy accent. Was that German he detected? "It's quite alright," he reassured her with a charming smile. "Just be glad you didn't knock over my champagne. If that was the case, I don't know if I would have been so forgiving." Not true, as he didn't even really like champagne, but it made for easy conversation. Sure, he might not necessarily enjoy large social gatherings, but it didn't mean he couldn't use his surprisingly stellar socialization skills if necessary. He extended his hand to the woman in greeting. "I'm Ryder. And I'm new here, if you couldn't tell by my bewildered expression and my apparent propensity to stand in the corner by myself."

SPOILER!!: Valentin

As the young man had passed, Vale couldn’t help but notice his handsome features looked a bit dour. ” Zumone to dance wiv?” he waved his empty hand towards the dance floor. Valentin was, by nature a shameless flirt. It of course, only made things more amusing to him that the gentleman he was bantering with looked a little bit uncomfortable in this environment.

Okay, now this was a situation that Ryder Medina didn't quite know how to handle. It was rare that he was socially stumped - he could usually come up with a witty remark to at least get by. How were you to politely tell someone that you weren't quite interested in that gender? Not that he had any problems with that. He knew and supported plenty of people with different orientations. It was just that women were more his cup of tea. "Er, no. No escort for me tonight," he said with a light laugh, slightly perplexed by this man's forwardness. And the term escort? Is that what the French called dates? Ryder looked down at his champagne, racking his brain for a polite response to this....proposition. Glancing next to him to where Katrina was still standing, he suddenly had an idea. "I appreciate the offer, sir, but I already promised her my next dance." He extended his arm out to the woman, giving her a knowing look as if to say, Please, for Merlin's sake, just play along!.

SPOILER!!: Delyth & Alba

Silly problem to have really. “The desserts really do look amazing! I’m more of a chocolate fountain gal myself though. Just give me some strawberries with it and I’ll be busy all night”. Desserts really were the best type of food really.

Casting a quick glance around, she couldn’t help but notice the room was beginning to fill up now as more and more witches and wizards filled the atrium. Quashing the feeling of intimidation that was gradually building in her, she had finally decided to treat herself and bid for something in the auction. Next question…what should she bid for or rather, what can she afford? “Are you girls going to bid on anything?” she asked to the two lovely women standing by her (Grae and Alba).

Alba wondered how many departments there were in the ministry.

"Not sure if I'll bid, I don't have much Wizard gold on me, I have to exchange my muggle money." Alba added, thinking it was going to be strange to be carrying galleons, sickles, and knuts again, rather than pounds. "But the auction does look like fun." She added.

Ah, two nice ladies from the Minister's Office. It was refreshing to meet some new faces. Grae seemed to have only really met other employees from the middle levels in the past. "You can't go wrong with strawberries, that's for sure," she chimed in, thinking of her grandmother's famous strawberry shortcake. She could definitely go for a slice of that right now. Or perhaps a butterbeer. One thing was for sure - the piece of toast she'd eaten right before she ran out the door for the celebration tonight was not enough to hold her over all evening.

Grae glanced over at the auction table at Delyth's question, nodding in understanding at Alba's response. She must be a Halfblood or Muggleborn if she only had Muggle currency on hand. Grae personally loved witches and wizards with Muggle heritage. She found them fascinating, and she hadn't interacted with too many of them due to her family's pureblood heritage. She sometimes wished that she had Muggle relatives. "I can't deny that the Moontrimmer caught my eye. Those brooms are just legendary!" Grae gushed, imagining the feeling of racing through the sky on such a fancy piece of wood. "Are either of you fond of Quidditch?"
