Yes, his hair was usually unruly but at least it didn’t get in the way! He wasn’t used to the long, silky tresses that kept getting in the way and so when Tina offered him a hair tie, it was accepted with much gratitude and many thanks.
Now he was sporting a truly marvellous cherry red pony-tail like some kind of magnificent unicorn.
A number of the students appeared to be REALLY concentrating on the whole conjuring up the image thing and Barlow left them to it. There was nothing worse than being distracted.
“Well done, Fiona,” he commented, turning his attention to the students who already appeared to have results. Nailed the name this time. Only took the entire lesson. “Almost didn’t recognise you!”
And then there were others who had results but…. were they the intended, desired results? He didn’t know because he hadn’t seen their mystery assignments. He very much doubted Kaiser’s slip of parchment had specified one single, bright red ringlet though. “It suits you, Mister Kaiser but I think you should give it another whirl. Remember, concentrate. Maybe it’ll help if you close your eyes.”
As for Lucas? He looked like a Lucas who simply hadn’t cut his hair for six months. “Remember, focus. Forget about length this time and focus on colour and texture. You’ve got this.”
There was Jillian resembling some kind of wrockstar with those purple spikes and before he could get a good look at what was going on with Cecelia she reversed the effects for another go. That’s what he liked to see. INITIATIVE!
“Seems you’re halfway there, Claudine.” Literally. Half her hair was pink, the other half brown. “It’s okay not to get it perfect first time!”
And because that was something everyone always needed reminding, Barlow cleared his throat to address the class as a whole.
“Remember, if you don’t get it first time, it’s not the end of the world! Yeah, you might end up looking funny but chances are you're gonna end up looking funny either way." The beauty of this assignment. “Look at your reflection and imagine yourself with the desired result. If you think it’ll help, close your eyes instead. We’ll carry on for another fifteen minutes!”
And then it was officially the weekend.
