So she decided it was probably best to grab one of them.
She noticed that sulky Slytherin kid - Kaiser, she believed his name was? - and decided now was as good a time as any to introduce herself. She had a soft spot for sulky Slytherin kids. Hehe.
Grabbing a bean bag and walking over to him, she flashed him a smile as she approached. "Hi! I'm Nettie. Partner with me?" she asked with a grin. Kaiser was really quite content to balance beanbags on his feet for the rest of the lesson, or - as he had now started doing - do kick-ups with one to entertain himself. Wasn't quite the same as doing it with a ball, but it served its purpose, more or less.
Not its intended purpose, no, but still.
He looked up as someone approached, and saw that one of the Ravenclaw prefects had joined him under his target. Gladin. Nettie Gladin, yes. He shot a smile back at her, so easy and laid back it could have been natural. "Nettie. Hello," he kicked the beanbag up from his foot and caught it before it had time to fall to the floor. "Kaiser." As in, that was his name. It made sense to him to assume she didn't know that yet. "I will be happy to partner with you."
So he supposed that meant he should actually attempt the task. Kaiser lightly tossed the beanbag onto the floor a few feet away, so that he was less likely to get hit by it if he misjudged the spell or something. "Okay... Alarte Ascendare." As instructed, he pointed his wand at the beanbag and flicked it upwards.
The beanbag did indeed shoot up into the air, much to the surprise of Kaiser, but it only reached roughly the three feet mark before flopping back to the floor again. Well, he'd take it.
