After getting caught up with all London things that came with their move, Beezus Beatrice had finally taken up her long time friend, Sophie, on her invitation for dinner and a playdate for the kids. She had been to their house only a handful of times before she was sent to her overseas assignment and that was back when the Mordaunt couple didn't have their four lovely children yet so tonight she was particularly excited to visit, chat and be able to take a peek into the good old married life. Adjusting the strap of her bag on her shoulder (it had fine wine inside!), the single mother crouched and smiled at her son's continuous rubbing at his nose. She noticed that he did that when he was nervous. She didn't blame him. This was the first time he was meeting the Mordaunt kids. "Hey, kiddo, wanna do the knock knock?"
Tamlin rubbed his nose. And rubbed it again. It was ITCHY. And it was annoying. And he did not want it to be itchy but it was itchy. Was it because he was going to meet new friends as moms said? Tamlin did not like meeting new people that much. He liked to stick to people he knew. Meeting new people meant he had to smile and be polite and there are times when he did not want to be polite but moms did not have to know. She thought he was always polite.
These friends were daughters and sons of moms' friends so even though he has never met them, they were already supposed to be friends. Well, okay. He supposed he could be polite for many minutes. But if he did not like any of the new friends then he was not going to be polite, not really.
The knock knock? Yup. Tamlin always liked to do the knock knock. It made him feel like a boss.
