Algamus picked the things to buy that were the most needed to be careful with, the things that he did not trust any of the other elves to be as most careful with as he! Inks needed careful elfs because inks had glass bottles and inkwells that might break, and inks were messy and if ink bottles broke then ink bottles made messes, and Algamus did not ever break things or make messes, that was why he was the head elf for a very long time and now that Hogwarts had only elves and not a human caretaker, elf jobs were more and Algamus was even more head elfy than he had ever been before!
It was inks for professors, and new inkwells for professors, and quills for professors, and many parchments for professors and all on the rolled-up list that Algie brandished in front of him like a scepter as he popped into sight in the center of the store, big elfy eyes gleaming. Algamus would shop now! Ray, polishing the counter, blinked. "There's a house elf in my shop," he said, looking around.
An elf. In his shop.
Of course, his darling Hester wasn't there to listen to him. Nobody was. Except an elf. "Hello," he said, followed by another blink. "Can I help you Sir?" Quote:

Of course, he'd barely been in the shop for five minutes before he'd been distracted by the GLOW IN THE DARK ink. And it had been another two minutes before he got distracted by the CLICKY MUGGLE FOUR COLOUR PENS. And another Hogwarts, he assumed, student there looking at the inks pulled Ray from behind the counter. "Hello Sir. Do you need assistance?" he asked.
