She was in control here right? Right. ”Hello Professor…Curtains” really that name should have had its curtains called years ago poor chap, must have been ridiculed throughout his miserable life. Still, Beth was just kind and smiles today and then she gave Ewan a tiny head nod as a hello.
Taking her books, parchment, and a set of self-inking quills out Beth simply turned toward Schmebsters and Reese. ”nice use with the nickname Reese, I knew you had it in you” she even gave the kid a little wink and smile ”Quinnsters, I don’t think we want that to happen, Reese is…what my nan calls a good egg yeah?” she was all sass and smiles but only in the kindest of ways. Then dropping her voice down low she whispered to Quinn ”you’re…captain looks…y’know accomplished?” hopefully Quinnterifica would get it. Quote:

Knowing Quinn would understand his reference, he turned to the other children on the table. Eying Reese for a moment, he smiled gingerly, “Hey Reese”. Having only talked to Reese briefly in Diagon Alley, he couldn’t really judge him. Finally, he turned to Beth. “Hey B, how’s the manipulation going?”.
Reaching around, he grabbed his rucksack and carefully placed Quinn’s copy of Peter Pan inside. It was a small gesture, but he appreciated it.
Turning now as the room filled, he spotted a few more people he knew! Smiling back now, he gave a little wave at Lydia. It had been a while since he’d spoken to her last. Diagon Alley, actually. She was still fighting to keep control of the smile, and when it started to feel like she was losing that battle, Quinn bit her lower lip. A habit of hers that Beth knew well and could instantly read. Good thing she wasn't here yet. "I'm about a fourth through with the section on hexes." The moment she stopped biting her lip to speak the smile returned, and this time she let it.
Speaking of Beth...Quinn gave her best friend a nod as she took a seat near them. And she found herself biting her lip again, this time at the new series of nicknames Beth has come up for her. If it were anyone else, Quinn probably wouldn't have found it so endearing, but Beth had nickname privileges for life. Besides, she came up with some good ones. That last bit, however. Quinn glanced over at Kirk, brow furrowed slightly, then back at Beth, questioningly. "I don't see it."
And to Ewan, she leveled a deadly serious gaze on him. "Ruin that book and a crocodile will be far too good for you." Just so he was clear. She took her books very seriously.
And...wait, what? Quinn perked up at the end of the Professor's start of class spiel. She'd only half been paying attention about the ice cream. Sure, ice cream was good, but you could honestly ask a house elf at anytime if you'd be able to get some ice cream, and they'd probably be handing you a bowl 3 seconds later. The casual Fridays mention, and...that question, however got her attention.
Favorite fiction writers? He was joking right? Expecting Quinn to be able to list all her favorite authors in one class period? Seriously? Oh. Well, where to even begin? Shakespeare, Homer, Beedle the Bard, Mary Shelley, Artemisa Rowlings, Brothers Grimm, J.M, Barrie, Lewis Carroll, L. Frank Baum, Peter S. Beagle," she even named one of her dogs after that last one; he's a beagle. "Let's see, Christopher Pike, Neil Gaiman, Terry Prachett, Madeleine L'Engle, Ridley Pearson, Robert Beatty, Phillip Pullman, Walpurnius Fletcher, Charlotte Dekker, Abby Tomaline, Ignatius Black, Narcissa Minge, Gregory Macguire, Aleister Pipp, Katie Filtch, Effy Stonem, Rick Riordan.....I could probably go on for an hour...or longer."
Quinn was the girl reading Peter Pan during her own sorting, after all...
