It was all currently up in the air.

SPOILER!!: Professor Ragnild

At least on Cassie’s end. The charms professor was so far taking it in stride. “Yep…that’s me,” he confirmed, “Nice to meet you as well.” Always nice to meet a colleague, especially given the different campuses. “And Gavin is fine.” No need for formalities between fellow professors. It wasn’t like they were subordinates of each other.

And then they were off, the first of the students were coming up to them. “Good day,” Gavin returned, offering a polite smile and a dip of his own head in respect to the bow given him. As for the question, Ragnild answered it with ease as well as directed further conversation. Of course, he was ready if the young man had anything else to add.

A girl was next, one Gavin would peg as likely Ravenclaw and Slytherin if asked. Definitely full of curiosity and questions which was a good thing and not necessarily limited to those two houses. "Hello," he said, greeting her in return. “University can also help you get a better feel for what you might want to do,” he added to his colleague’s answers. “For example, exposing you to subjects that aren’t as studied in focus at Hogwarts Or jobs that involve a combination of various fields.” The other posed questions seemed well covered by Ragnild.

“Hello,” Gavin greeted, returning the smile of the next girl. “Sure, you may,” he answered, echoing his companion’s words. Then politely helping hand over any from his side of the table to make sure she got all that she wanted from the offerings. "And we can probably assist you in either answering or directing you on any answers not covered." He would certainly try his best.

The next two that came anywhere close to their table were on the quitter side, something Gavin himself could sympathize. Merlin knows he was like that while he was growing up, only years of the field and experience as a professor certainly had helped that. “Hello,” he greeted, offering a friendly smile as Ragnild spoke up to ask if they had any questions. Yes…they were there to help.

Curse-breaking...and auror. Both admirable goals to strive for. "They would indeed," Gavin answered with a nod, grateful for the prep he gave himself whenever planning for these fairs. "Especially auror, seeing as they work with the Japanese Ministry much like Edinburgh does with the British Ministry to make sure that what's being taught is up to par with the expectations of the Law Enforcement departments their graduates would likely follow into."

Ah, another new addition to their audience. "Hello," Gavin greeted with a nod as he listened to her plans before focusing on her question. Divination...not a field he had any experience in and he glanced at his partner for assistance. He didn't want to just fumble and offer wrong information...his gaze actively passing along their stacked pamphlets for any potential help.

SPOILER!!: Peter and Cassie

Then there was a duo...a couple if he was noticing the signs right...but it wasn't Gavin's place to verify. "Actually there is.." he answered, noting the brochure the young man had taken and seeing if there was was a more fitting one. Ah...there it was. "There's Magical Sports Science & Management," the professor passing over the appropriate handout for assistance. "Not at all campuses but offered in a decent number of them." He didn't catch the whispered words of the young woman, but he couldn't help the small raising of the eyebrow in curiosity.

Their inquisitive companion seemed to take their answers in stride before opening up with more questions. "Absolutely not," he said, answering the question about housing. "Your options for where you live are only limited to your transportation." As in, if you can apparate, fly, drive, walk etc to your college campus from your living quarters, you were good. As for guiddance, that they had as well.

"Most guidance in your studies would likely come from the professors and department head of the program you decide to follow," Gavin remarked, thinking back to his own experience, both as a student and staff. "They would be the best bet in knowing what's expected in the program as well as the field after graduation and may even be of assistance in giving you connections to use later in life." He himself had a few people from his university days that he still interacted through years at the Ministry and his other jobs. "However, there are usually a general advisers for the university as well."

Ragnild smiled as Professor Mc- no, Gavin returned her greeting. She was glad she hadn't mistaken his identity; Merlin, that would've been embarrassing! She was slightly taken aback when he asked her to call him Gavin, though she didn't show it. "Right then, Gavin," she replied. Well, that was going to take some getting used to! She was a Westergaard, after all, and calling him by his first name went against years of etiquette training!

She listened as he took the next round of questions, waiting for an opportunity to add to what he said. So far, he seemed pretty knowledgeable.

Still, he decided it might be worthwhile to check out the job fair. Perhaps he'd get some ideas?

Professional Quidditch was totally out of the question, so the fourth year skipped that booth completely. Heh, he didn't even LOOK in that direction. Yes, his dad was Clifford Carden former chaser of the Falmouth Falcons and England national squad... Yes, his sister was Daisy Carden current chaser of the Quiberon Quafflepunchers... But nope. Nope nope nope. Not happening.

And following the footsteps of his Mother didn't seem likely either. Having to deal with blood and gross stuff as a Healer? Not his cup of tea either, thank you.

So Max found himself at the Wizarding University booth... He wasn't looking for anything in particular. He didn't even have any questions to ask. He was just kind of ... hanging around.

It was actually working out okay too because he was able to overhear the questions from the other students and the responses from the professors - he assumed they were professors anyway. He edged a little bit closer and blinked in surprise when one of them addressed him.

Actually, he did have a question.

"Ummm, I was wondering..." The tips of his ears burned pink and he bottled out at the last second. His question was silly anyway. "Can I have a brochure?"

Rangild had just finished answering the first round of questions when a boy appeared. She expected questions or at least a greeting, but he was just sort of... standing there. Maybe he was just shy? "Hello," she greeted with a friendly smile. She was going to ask if he had any questions, but her partner beat her to it. then the boy mentioned brochures. "Of course you can," she said, nodding. "Take as many as you want. We have some from several universities around the world and a few on general university life too."

Well, it is hard to enunciate Japanese words to sound authentic, but she did well in not butchering the greeting so that's good. More than good, actually. Not like a certain fellow Ravenclaw. Hadley Denaker was the worst, and perhaps the only person in Hogwarts who can make the usually calm Jace Reed seethe with anger. The young man nodded at her response. "My brother actually attended a small community college in Setagaya-ku. He opted for a small one since his priority was to play professional Quidditch." he paused looking over to Skylar, whom he knew was into the sport as well. "It may be small, but it helped him get in the Toyohashi Tengu team. So, I guess it's really important to choose the best university or college that will help us fulfil our dream..." And speaking of Quidditch, he ought to return his brother's practice broom when he goes to University. He wouldn't need one in the near future.

The Ravenclaw looked from the woman to the man next to her, and grinned. "Well, I plan to take Curse-Breaking...but I'm also leaning towards being an Auror. Would you know if the Wizarding Universities in Tokyo or Osaka are good enough for these majors? Or...is there a special course specializing in hybrid majors? I'd like to take both if it's possible..." Nothing is impossible to a Reed, especially if it required brain power.

More students came by and the seventh year offered them all a polite grin. He caught sight of Ollie though, and if a Meriwether was in sight, it can only mean that a wild Matt Solo's nearby. His fellow seventh year wouldn't miss this opportunity to torment the Aurors present...

Ragnild could just hear her sister's voice in the back of her mind correcting her Japanese pronunciation, but luckily, it seemed to be good enough for this boy. She returned his smile, inclining her head in response to the bow. She listened intently to his story about his brother who attended a small Japanese college to prepare hi to play quidditch, nodding along in places. Then came another question.

She let her colleague answer first before adding, "Both Tokyo and Osaka have excellent auror programs. Tokyo's program is very fast-paced, while Osaka's offers a more individualized approach. As far as curse-breaking goes, Tokyo's program is particularly rigorous; they partner with the Japanese wizarding banks for in-field training." Then the subject of hybrid majors came up, and she nodded. "That's certainly possible. The auror and curse-breaking programs have similar requirements, so you could do a double major."

Did she want to double major? Was that the safe thing to do? How many jobs could she get with a Divination degree? Did they even offer it?

Huh. Maybe she would learn a little something. Maybe.

She wandered over to the wizarding university booth (walking past her father at the writing booth on the way, ignoring him as she promised she would) and waited until she could squeeze her way to the front.

"Hello. I plan on going to university in London this fall," she began because Edinburgh wouldn't have her boooo "And I was wondering what Divination related majors you offer?" she asked. She did not want to end up reading tarot cards on the streets like her dad had his first year out of school. Shudder.

Another student appeared, and Ragnild greeted her with a polite nod. "Hello there," she said, smiling slightly as the girl mentioned the wizarding university of London. "Congratulations! London is a great university." Her smiled faded as she learned the girl's intended course of study. Divination was not her area of expertise! She half-expected Gavin to answer, but he was looking at her. Looked like it was up to her...

She thought back to what she knew about Divination programs. "Well, the most popular divination majors tend to be scrying and chartomancy," she said. Well, those were the most popular in Denmark; she imagined it was probably the same in London. "Would you be interested in those areas? Or did you have something else in mind?" Knowing what field she had in mind would help point her to the correct major. In the meantime, she handed her a pamphlet. "Here's some information on the wizarding university of London for you..."

"Hi, does University have a sport related subject? Something like sport technology or that kind of stuffs?" Because that's the only subject that he could stand.

She couldn't help the small grin that tugged at her lips hearing Peter ask the people at the booth about sports related jobs. Of course that's why he was here. She could answer the question for him but, Hey, it was their job.

"Think they have something related to Gymnastics or Baking?" she whispered with a quiet giggle. Those were her passion. Specially gymnastics. The further she could take that the better. Blue eyes scanned the area them towards the other booths... none of them really seemed to catch her eye.

Then came a boy (Peter) asking about sports technology. Ragnild thought Gavin had done a good job explaining on his own; she had nothing to add so she merely nodded along. A girl (Cassie) appeared and whispered something the Danish woman couldn't quite make out, though she was almost sure she'd heard the word "baking" in there somewhere. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that," she said. "Did you say something about baking?" She wanted to make sure she'd heard correctly before offering any information.

"Do you have to live in the university housing?" It wasn't mandatory, right? Because she was maybe considering alternatives, that she wasn't entirely sure about it, but if she did go through with it then it could change things.

Looking at the male professor now, she smiled warmly as he offered his own insights. "So, um, there's guidance offered too? Like an advisor of sorts, as we have our heads of houses here at Hogwarts, there will be something similar at University to help guide us and offer insights about jobs that combine fields?" Because the combination of fields actually was intriguing to the sixth year and she wanted to know more about that now, which she doubted they could help her with that, but she would be taking brochures and contacting the different universities of their amenities and offerings.

Oh? Wait, there was professional Quidditch in Japan? How did she not know this?? She smiled at the older Ravenclaw, whom she recognized mostly because of being Ethan's dormmate and all. "Hmm, but I don't want to go to university to get onto a professional quidditch team. I would want to play on the university team. Do you know if the small college had a team then?"

Ragnild smiled slightly as the girl asked even more questions. This young lady reminded her a bit of herself at that age! She almost laughed when she asked if she had to live in a dorm. She could sympathize; student housing wasn't for everybody! It seemed Gavin already had that question answered as well (if not better) than she could've. Then the subject turned to advisers, and once again, her partner was ahead of the game in answering. She nodded in agreement and added, "Most universities also have student advisers - upperclassmen who assist the incoming freshmen with things like class schedules, dorm assignments, and adjusting to university life."
