Somehow she’d managed to wait the entire day and had gratefully fallen onto other materials for reading and advancing the experiment but it didn’t mean she’d abandon this one tothe man.

Jessa gave a few firm knocks at the door, enough to alert him to her presence and the urgency therein within it being an outright assault on the wooden structure.

A part of her considered the likelihood the man may still have been up in the Great Hall finishing up his meal with his fellow staffer members but the man didn’t strike her as the social type giving her no reason to believe he would linger behind to participate in what was likely idle chatter. Jessa was a firm believer in the ability of adults to prattle on about nothing in particular, even more so than children.

The Prefect took a measured step back from the door just to ensure that should he open it himself rather than by means of magic, she wouldn’t suddenly be standing too close to him.

No, but really, where WAS he?
Unfortunately for the Ravenclaw, Professor Noble had decided to be on the more social side this evening. Plus dessert had been quite exquisite, so he had lingered a while longer to enjoy seconds and share a couple more stories with his colleagues. So her knock did nothing to alert him to her presence, because behind that door he was not.

He wasn't too far behind though.

"Ah, Prefect Jessica," he said, spotting her ahead of him as he sauntered along the corridor. "Come to re-claim your book?" He pulled a bundle of keys from his pocket and unlocked the door to his office, giving it a bit of a shove with his shoulder to open it. His overly large and grumpy cat scowled at the disturbance from her spot by the hearth. "Yes, yes, Annie. Hello to you too."

After a quick glance at the cauldron suspended in the fireplace, Noble moved to take his seat behind the desk. He opened a couple of drawers to file some papers, but didn't retrieve her book just yet. "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about first?"
