Post 'Fantastic Beasts' actress Carmen Ejogo talks return to sequel as President Picquery

While promoting the theatrical release of her new film Roman J. Israel, Esq., Carmen Ejogo teased a bit about her return to the Fantastic Beasts series as MACUSA President Seraphina Picquery.

Ejogo admitted she doesn't expect her role to be as prominent in the second movie as it was int he first installment, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and that she will return to the UK next week to continue shooting more scenes for the still-unnamed feature, out next November.

Quote:
Carmen Ejogo: “Well in this one – maybe not so [prominent a role], but Seraphina is the President of the American Wizard Association so whenever we return to the US, I would imagine we get more of Seraphina. But this film mostly takes place in Paris – so we get to see a Parisian version of her perhaps.”

“I’m actually going over next week [to shoot]… It’s always a long shoot on these films so it’s been a fair bit of back and forth but I’m so happy to be a part of the ongoing sequels. It’s a great franchise.”
The following plot details were released by Warner Bros. about the second installment, which hits theaters and IMAX in November 2018.

Quote:
Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling wrote the screenplay for the film, which opens in 1927, a few months after Newt helped to unveil and capture the infamous Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald. However, as he promised he would, Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause—elevating wizards above all non-magical beings.

The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The adventure reunites Newt with Tina, Queenie and Jacob, but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.
The starring cast for Fantastic Beasts 2 includes Ejogo with Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein), Dan Fogler (Jacob Kowalski), Ezra Miller (Credence Barebone), Johnny Depp (Gellert Grindelwald), Kevin Guthrie (Abernathy), Callum Turner (Theseus Scamander), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), and Zoe Kravitz (Leta Lestrange).
