Had he and Jorge still be on the outs with each other, that comment, even with the seemingly innocent laughter, would have gotten Simon’s hackles up in defense. But then the former auror knew first hand what his companion was capable of. “I’ll alert the cavalry,” he mused nonchalantly but a touch of jest in his tone. And no…the tension had been cleared up and they were now very happily married family men. Just how much time had passed since they first met?

“Fascinating…” Simon answered, “Does that work as a good descriptor.” Jorge had certainly had more experience in the family mode. The security man was still so fresh and new to the feelings and experiences and he hadn’t had a long time to prepare for not one but two children at once due to the adoptions. “But a good fascinating.” There was no denying that he was happy. “How about yours?” He got periodic updates from occasional run-ins in with Mariel though it had been a few weeks.

The younger girl, Aboli he deduced, was clearly excited to see the young writer following in her father’s footsteps. The girl rushing to her to envelope her in a hug. Simon continued on the outside until her mother introduced herself to him and Jorge, gaining a nod of acknowledgement from the law enforcement man. “Nice to meet you, Ms. LeFeuvre” he remarked with a polite smile, sticking to formalities for now. “I’m Simon Bennett.” Acquaintance of the editor but he was here as a simple community member as well so his connection needn’t be shared.

Did they figure out who had set the fire?

Simon blinked in realization that he actually couldn’t readily answer that question. Was it because it hadn’t been his responsibility as the search for justice would have fallen into the hands of either the aurors or hit wizards or a combination of both? Was he disconnected enough to miss that? Perhaps. Whatever the reason, it seemed the man the question had been aimed at was likely more informed, at least at the moment. If Jorge had no answer, Simon was sure to be checking it out back at the office when he got there next.
