But she still wasn't doing too well, so he wasn't about to drag her along. He almost thought about skipping the whole thing to stay with her. But this was his first Ministry event, and he did want to make some new friends.
Maybe making friends would help him feel more confident in his new workplace, y'know? It's not that he didn't think he was placed incorrectly he definitely did believe this was the case, actually. But he had really only worked in the field for a year and that was almost THREE YEARS AGO!!! He was nervous, could anyone tell???????
Which was... Exactly why he ran to the food. Food was familiar. And if anything, if he just stuffed his mouth the whole night, it'd look like he was too busy to socialize. And then people wouldn't think he's weird and lonely. It was full-proof. As he grabbed a plate and began piling some... Why was everything so healthy? If this is what the post-graduate-"big boy"-job life was like, Zander would go right back to nannying like yesterday. Only his thoughts were interrupted by a voice belonging to the body in front of him. Who was she talking to? Was it him? Could it please be him? P L E A S E?
He chose to respond either way. "..... Uh.... They weren't real????????" Say what? What did she mean they WEREN'T real? "?????" Did the ministry often put fake protesters at their events? Please explain, lady. Quote:

And like, trees were cool and all because, like, they helped give oxygen and that allowed all the important people to like, grace the earth with their awesome personalities and style and stuff. Oh and, like, wand wood was super important because without a wand, how was Lydia supposed to clean up when the house elf was busy cooking or whatever? Yeah, trees were so important to, like, her way of life. Creatures were mostly okay, too, but not the slimy ones, or the crawly ones, or the annoying ones. Those ones were just, well, annoying. But, like, yeah. She was here to support mother earth and she felt really good about herself because of it.
Jumping into line at the buffet, the blonde ignored any and all green foods because ICCCK and made herself a plate. "Did anyone see those adorable protester people at the atrium? They were, like, so real, y'know?" Aw. Super passionate, too. First place Chloe headed for this summit was the food table, because it was an environmental summit which meant FOR ONCE the Ministry was going to be having more vegetarian options. And so naturally the redhead just had to check out those options .... as she was surveying the choices with various smiles and nods of approval, thinking Archer was probably not going to like the choices and that she would have to make him a plate lest he not he not eat anything, she spotted an all too familiar face in front of her.
Zander Adair. How could she NOT know him? He was Head Boy and they had shared a common room for seven years, despite having not spoken to him in the three and a half years since they graduated. And their surnames were kind of similar, putting him JUST before her in the alphabet, ALL the time. And he was talking to a blond, which meant, had he broken up with Sophie? The thought made her feel super guilty because she didn't know anything about her former housemate, but then again, it could be said for him in knowledge about her life, since she'd finally gotten together with Archer and was a mother, two things he didn't know. "Zander Adair! It's soooo good to see you!" The redhead grinned, before turning to the blond to introduce herself, "Hi there, I'm Chloe Adara, Portkey Manufacturer for the Ministry of Magic." Wait, what was that about the activists not being real? Surely they weren't staged, were they? Quote:

Rose wanted to enjoy the summit and its presentations and foods with an open mind and if she learned something while she was here then so be it. To attend the summit was a part of her job but it was a little sad that none of the presentations had anything to do on how the changing environment affected creatures. She'd have to ask Becca about that when she saw her.
Rose was surveying all the healthy food options and hadn't exactly expected anyone to answer her rhetorical question but Mr Rose that she had met at another ministry function did. Turning her head and body in his direction she smiled. "Hello Aaron, it's nice to see you again too.". Nodding she affirmed. "Yes, I still work in the ministry's Creatures department. How about yourself? Do you still work in Games & Sports?" What had he been working with? Quidditch right?
Gesturing around them at all the healthy foods she asked "Isn't healthy foods second nature to a recently retired quidditch player?" Oh good, she remembered him AND she still worked for the Ministry which in Aaron's book was a double win. Not that he doubted she would remember him, considering she knew of him before he knew of her. "Excellent and good to know. Yes, yes, I'm still working in the games and sports department. Sadly haven't ridden my broom in a few months, which has made me feel very lazy." Some days he really missed playing quidditch, but this was a new opportunity and he wasn't going to be young forever, as his knees and elbows and every other bodily joint liked to remind him of every day.
Aaron shook his head. "Please, Rose. While we had to maintain a healthy weight, everyone knows even quidditch players like to splurge on those unhealthy foods once in awhile." So yes, he was aware of the healthy options, but he wasn't opposed to chips and junk food either.
