Angelo hadn't brought a date, not because there was nobody to bring -he could have brought his girlfriend after all- but because the whole point of all of this was to do it on his own. Completely on his own. And Toussaints didn't do things by halves. He had opted for dressy casual, wearing good trousers and a jacket over a soft light sweater. No sneakers for him. Boots. Nice boots. To him this wasn't the kind of event that required a tux or even a three-piece, but a bit of pride and effort was still worth while.
The nineteen-year-old approached the check in after taking a moment to orient himself, and scanned the table for his identity badge. The swag bags he was less interested in. The goal here was simply to take his badge and move on.
