A niffler noticed the SHIIIIIIIINY on the boy's wrist, and suddenly it latched onto the human child's leg. It tried to nuzzle its nose through the clamped hand and latch its teeth onto the watch, but this was proving extremely difficult. It needed to make use of its claws-

The niffler on the child with the watch remained firmly clamped onto him, but the others shot at the now TWO EXTRA HUMANSIES in the room. Another had successfully broken into the headmaster's desk and was now digging through papers, wood, whatever he could to get to SHINIIIIIIIIIES.

When the older but not the oldEST human made a dive for one of the nifflers, it lunged out of the way and quickly clambered onto the boy's back and stuck its wet nose into the boy's collar sniffing around eagerly.

A second niffler bared its teeth at the boy's wrist for his watch, pawing at the boy's leg to try to climb up him.
