The tall African had been taking a casual walk throughout the second floor to take a break from his administrative paperwork and let his mind breathe. He opted to not pace around in his office today, but rather decided to go stand next to the grand window that overlooked the grounds and the lake. Even in winter, frozen and covered in snow, Sahnoun found it to be quite a breathtaking sight. The man couldn't help but wonder how the merpeople and the Giant Squid were fairing with the sudden change in season. Then again, they were probably used to it, whereas he was more accustomed to a much warmer climate.
Headmaster Sahnoun didn't linger at the window much longer. The door to his office was left slightly ajar and the gargoyle was not blocking the entrance. As the students were heading off to their classes and he wasn't terribly far, the man saw no need to lock it up. He hummed an old African song, a personal favourite of his, while he walked down the labyrinth of corridors toward his office.
As he turned the corner and the gargoyle was in sight, he heard unknown items breaking and two voices. Sahnoun picked up the pace once he realized that the chaos was coming from the direction of his office. He would have mentally scolded himself for not locking the door and perhaps spending too much time at the window as he climbed up the stairs, but there was no time for that. Something was not right.
"Mungu wangu!" his deep voice rumbled, entering the office just as the blond Gryffindor dove for one of the many creatures sniffing away and knocking his belongings over. He winced at the sight of his broken alchemy instruments, and then he noticed that his fwooper was trying to bite at any of the nifflers that got too close to its perch.
"Boys, I don't know where dese nifflers came from," Sahnoun said calmly, his brown eyes flicking from the prefect and the younger Gryffindor, "but we need to get dem back outside immediately before dey decide to run off further into da castle." |
