Default Review: Warner Bros.' 'Vacation'

If you're a fan of the original movie from the National Lampoon's Vacation, then there's a good chance you won't only be disappointed by how bad a sequel the new Vacation film is, it might downright anger moviegoers and longtime fans.

The movie Vacation movie follows a grown-up Rusty Griswald, now inexplicably played by Ed Helms, as he tries to follow his father's footsteps in trying to drive cross-country to the famed Walley World as a means to keep his mess of a family together.

As they drive through the country, it's sort of a game to see how ridiculous, raunchy and outrageous the obstacles the Griswald have to tackle. While the filmmakers no doubt were going for the 'dirtier the joke, the funnier' lack of logic, it, once again, like so many low-brow movies, just doesn't work.

It is nice to see Rusty reteam with his parents, played once again by Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo, the nostalgia won't be enough to lure moviegoers to see this rather filth of a film.

Once the family eventually gets to Walley World, they are, once again, thrown a few more tedious obstacles to overcome, and at this point it's a question of who's suffering more - the family in the movie, or the people who foolishly chose to watch the movie.

The best advice here is to go back and watch National Lampoon's Vacation, a decision no one will regret.

Vacation, starring Helms, Chase, D'Angelo, Christina Applegate and Chris Hemsworth, is in theaters now.
