Emmalee considered the man's response for a moment. It was not a period of time that gave her much of anything to go on in terms of his age, since it was likely he'd been employed elsewhere before. But, he hadn't been around during her mother's final, bizarre, run-ins with law enforcement, so that was at least a positive.
"Only a few months, this time 'round," she said with a wry smile. She'd been hired into a senior level position, which meant that people kept assuming she'd just been around, toiling in a greenhouse somewhere. "I worked here for a few years, about ten years ago, but I left to go back to school, work in private greenhouses, that sort of thing."
Look for her lost mother. Fail at identifying her father. Light things, really.
Sipping her tea, she considered the other part of his statement about it paying the bills. "It sounds as if you don't really have a passion for the law," she noted, raising an eyebrow. Odd field to be in, if you weren't completely in love with it.
