When you first come onto level 9 you will probably be in shock. Compared to the rest of the ministry this level is very different. In the corridors there are no windows, and no doors, apart from the plain black door at the end of the corridor that leads to the department of Mysteries. There is light, provided by small torches that emit a blue-white light, just adding to the mysterious atmosphere of the area.

Behind this black door at the end of the corridor is the entrance chamber to the department. This chamber is designed to disorientate any person who not authorised to be within the department. The chamber is a circular room, with various doors, but only one actually leads to the reception area. If you are authorised this door will open automatically for you. If not, then good luck in finding the right door. Once a door is closed within this chamber the whole room rotates, making it impossible to remember which door had been opened previously.

So to make it easier for you to gain access to the department it would be wise to let someone know that you are coming, so that you do not get lost in the entrance chamber.
