Alex's eyes widened when she saw the desserts. Just when she thought she couldn't take one more bite, the desserts arrived...and they looked delicious. Well, maybe she could find a little room for one or two.

Alex raised her hand to answer the Professor's question. "When a lady or girl leaves the table, a man should stand", Alex said. "He should also stand when she returns and help pull out or push up her chair."
