Even though Jory had been to a few dinners, he had never ever paid attention to what was done. He now wished he had. He cut the steak into a bite size piece and chewed. Then he tried out the veges. They were all delicious.

What is a waiter? Does it mean a person who waits? Is that it? The waiter thing still confuses him. Are they house elves perhaps?

Jonathan ate each food that was settled on his plate. Everything was divine and sumptuous, it can not be described into words. It's just delicious. Now for the main course, they all had steaks on their plates. It looks really mouth-watering. Jonathan used the fork and knife and cut through the steak, took a bite and he smiled. Now, he's starting to like Muggle Studies more and more. At least they weren't dancing like last term. Boy, those crazy dances led him not to dance for a long long while now.

And there it is again... waiters.

Ignoring that part, Jonathan just decided to use some logical sense into this. If you're finish and want the next course, what do you do. "You raised your hand slightly and maybe wave it a little bit?" he tried. "Or, one must place the utensils used into the plate properly after eating" then maybe these so-called waiters, will get them. Yup. That must be it.

Gaaaaah, vegetables sure added more delight in that main dish. And she was almost full so when the next question was asked, she decided to give out an answer.

"Professor, I believe that if you're already finished then you just place the utensils that you have used back on their designated places in the table. After wiping your mouth with the napkin, you can then place it in the table too and the waiter would take the initiative to ask you if you're done." She explained after raising her hand. She wasn't sure of that answer though, she can't really remember.

He hated vegetables, all kinds of them, except for potatoes and olives, but he wasn't sure if those were really vegetables. Disgusted by the smell of the vegetables, Eino displayed a face that matched his discomfort. Recalling that Professor Cerulean had mentioned that it was rude not to eat something, Eino pulled his plate towards him and reconsidered. The professor said they should at least eat a little bit, so he was going to do that, though the steak he was going to eat all of it. He took the knife and fork, and cut a small piece of the green vegetable, not exactly sure what it was, and slowly took it to his mouth. The texture was disgusting and the taste was unbearable! Nonetheless, Eino chewed and chewed, then swallowed it. He ate a piece of the steak after that to wash off the bad taste, but still intended to eat some more veggies, just to be polite.

The next question came just as Eino was going to eat another piece of the green thing. He quickly, and neatly, put his fork down to raised his hand. "I believe you clink your glass with a spoon to announce that you are done with your food." He said and nodded. Then he glanced at the vegetables sitting on his plate, hoping to have another opportunity to skip them.

Anyways the meal was sumptuous and she was enjoying it very much!

As the Professor launched into her next question it took a while for the Ravenclaw boy to chew, feeling a strange sensation in his tongue and around his lips. That sensation has been building up since he took a bite of the bruschetta, and he couldnt understand why. He looked up to the Professor and considered his response. He swallowed, dabbed his mouth with the napkin and tentatively raised his hand "Professor, usually if the servers are well aware of the diners' assigned to them, it would sometimes be as simple as making eye contact and they would understand that you need something and they would come near you..." Some servers are so attuned they would actually bring you what you need before you ask for it. "... or sometimes raising your hand slightly would be enough to get their attention. But it should be generally avoided to snap one's fingers or make a scene that you need their attention. Its kinda rude." Servers are professional people too.

Merlin, she was useless at this class.

Glenn raised her hand, "Um, do you tap your glass?" She said hesitantly, she had seen that in a muggle movie.

The professor tilted her head slightly to the left and scrunched up her eyebrows at each of the students' answers..."Thank you for your answers, but these aren't the proper way to let the waiter, or server, know you are done when you are at a formal dinner setting or even at a restaurant. Many of these can be considered rude and improper." she said it in a sweet and caring voice with her usual soft smile on her face.

The first year already finished with his meal when the Professor asked them the next question. He placed his knife and fork parallel to one another across the plate and he dabbed his mouth with the napkin. Messer raised his hand "When we are finished with our food, our knife and fork should be placed beside each other on the plate diagonally from upper left to lower right with the knife blade facing inward toward the plate. That is a signal to the waiter that you are finished." he said then lowered his hand.

On the other hand, this steak was delicious! Aurora had to physically restrain herself from wolfing it down.

Her hand went up ''When you are finished, you are supposed to rest your fork and knife, and the other tinsels, across your plate, you also put the napkin on the plate and simply sit and wait for the next course if there happens to be one,'' she replied then tucking into the steak after it well bite amounts...

'Professor,' she started, 'don't you just put your knife and fork in the middle of your plate and leave them?' she said, trying to remember the last muggle restaurant she went to, before realising she had never been to one, 'and If they still don't notice, polietly call them over...'

She seemed to remember her mother scolding her about that. Unsure of what to do, Kurumi set her fork and knife down, leaning against her plate and looked up. You didn't just...stop eating and push your plate forward?

"Do you...fold your napkin and set it on the table?" People were talking about silverware and whatnot, but any fancy dinner Kurumi had been to had only ever had chopsticks and when you were done you just rested them on your chopstick holder.

"Professor, I believe what you do to signal that you are finished with the meal is to place the knife at the Four o'clock position on the plate if it were indeed a clock and the place the knife finger's pointing down parallel to it and not only that, but also on the spot closer to you." She was a little flushed at the moment from admitted that she'd learned 'proper this-and-that's form her family'. But it made the world a nicer place didn't it?

Taking her knife she placed it down - the cutting edge facing towards her in the four o'clock position and then the fork fingers down next to it closer to her. Flushing again she hoped she hadn't miffed anything up.

That was other then the ones that seemed more common sense or easily pickupable from those he mimiced when learning.

As he finished the lasanga course, he placed his fork on the plate as directed and absently watched as the plates were swapped out by magic, empty for full. That was another thing he was unused to...using magic for everything in a meal. And it did appear odd to be so widely used in a muggle studies lesson.

Gideon brushed it off as he began to eat from the main course, cutting a small piece of meat or potatoe for each bite. He ate at a leisurely pace as he mulled over the professor's question. Having an idea, he took a sip from his water glass to swallow before raising his hand to answer. "Ye would simply place yer silverware on your plate and leave it be. Perhaps rest yer hands on yer lap."

She politely took a serving of steak and vegetables, but ate only the vegetables. Carefully not drawing attention to herself, as was proper ettiquette.

Again, the thirteen year old nearly rolled her eyes at the other students. Really? Wave like a princess at the servers? That would never fly in any formal setting. Presley's father would have been infuriated. She finished the bite she was chewing, and raised her hand. "To signal that you are done, you are supposed to rest your fork, tines up, and knife blade in, diagonally across you plate so the tips are going upward and left." Thank Merlin Presley at least knew what she was talking about. If these kids ate like this all the time, nobody would ever invite them for dinner again.

But, whatever, one bite never hurt anyone, right? Which meant...he was soon done, because he wasn't going to eat much of this.

THIS CLASS WAS TORTURE. For him, at least, witch the food part.

Ooooh, another question? Then Cerulean got another answer, "Your fork and knife should be placed on the plate, not crossed or anything like that, just...next to each other, in a diagonal fashion. Sort of like the tonearm when a record is being played in one of those turntables." Seeeeeeee, he knew Muggle stuff.

Finally she cut her steak slowly and into a small little piece. She took a bite and chewed it over. It was delicious, like all other things tonight.

She shook her head up and down, "Yes, you all explained it greatly and added some great extras." she paused and then continued, "Remember we never want to place a used utensil back on the table..." she said reminding them of a rule from a few courses back. "The proper way to signal to the wait staff that your are done with the course is to rest your fork, tines up, and knife blade in, with the handles resting at five o'clock an tips pointing to ten o'clock on your plate. And any unused silverware is simply left on the table. But we want to keep our napkin for right now because we still have one more course left."

She picked up her knife and fork and placed them on her plate to show them on the big screens. She waited for everyone to follow suit and then with a flick of her wand the steak plates, bread dishes, and basket of rolls raised up and flew out.

It was that time, her second favorite course...she loved the sorbet the most but dessert was always amazing. "Okay now onto our dessert course..." and with that long white plates with little shot shaped glasses flew in and levitated. "this is a fun course...it can sometimes be cheesecakes or pies or cobblers or even ice cream, but we put together something special for ya'll." She flicked her wand and the plates landed in front of the students.

"This is a special dessert medley so that you can try five different types of Italian inspired Muggle desserts..." She started picking up each shot glass off her plate and as she did the same glass rose up around the room slightly. "The first one is Chocolate Mousse with Dark Chocolate Cookie Crust, followed by Strawberry & White Chocolate Cream Cake, and next is Limoncello Mousse with Vanilla Cookie Crust, then Dark Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Mousse & Caramel Cream, and finally Amaretto Tiramisu with Almond. There is just enough for you to kind of taste and see if you like them." she said excitedly...

SPOILER!!: DESSERT!!!! (Desserts spelled backwards is stressed)

"Go ahead and dig in..." she said picking up her dessert spoon and taking a bite out of the Strawberry & White Chocolate Cream Cake glass on her plate.

"Here's another question, during the meal, if a woman, or girl, gets up to leave the table for any reason, what should the men do at the table when she leaves AND when she returns?" she asked the class watching them eating.

OOC: Remember to raise your hand before you answer. .And as always remember she is always watching you! Enjoy the dessert medley....it's making me hungry in RL...haha...we are almost done with the lesson.
