First impressions are so important.
As Alexander peered down at the young woman, he suddenly thought of his own daughters--Anna, who was about the Downing woman's age; and Sierra, a mere twelve-year-old. His eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he willed himself to have a patience that even he sometimes realized he needed to work on.

"You're just fine where you are, Miss Downing," he said. "I was only asking because it occurred to me that as of right now, you are our only office receptionist, meaning you'll be the one the others will actually turn their paperwork in to." With patience, he nodded his head in the direction of the front desks. "When you're done here, you can choose whichever free desk you'd like in the front desk area."

"Uhm...okay." Ryuu looked around the room...now, where was this office? Actually, who was this GUY?
Turning around, Alexander raised an eyebrow toward the Andrei man. Hmm, another one to watch, just like MacDean, yes? Yes, he indeed decided. He regarded the man with one simple nod before turning away.

Before he put the news paper down, a voice came from over top of it. Warren folded the paper and set it on the desk, as he looked up at the person. And struggled to get up for the man, for a more polite greeting. It seemed that sitting once again made his body decide to quit functioning, which made it even harder, at his age, to start it up again.

Warren finally straightened up, "Miller." he said quickly. "Warren Miller, payroll coordinator. It's nice to meet you, sir" he said and shook the mans hand.

Undersecretary? Was that not the position Lord Borr was about to take, before he became minister.

"Is there anything you need, sir? Before I begin filling some paperwork." Warren asked. Better to ask first, before getting to the paperwork that could wait a little longer.
Alexander's eyes widened in surprise. Did he need to help the old man to his feet? Just as he'd decided that yes, he did indeed need some degree of assistance, the man rose to his feet all on his own. Miller, as he'd introduced himself, seemed polite, and so Alexander composed himself and extended his own hand for a shake.

The man had put down the paper, it seemed, and so Alexander decided not to create trouble if it had already died down on its own. "Mr. Miller," he said, completing the handshake. "It's good to meet you." Shaking his head in reply, he added, "No, not right now, but when you're done here, the desk of your choosing is right up front in the front desks area."

Wait, shouldn’t she be thinking of Noah… or maybe Mason?! Ugh. She didn’t know these days. Never the less, ”Yes sir, I’m available when you need me.” She nodded and returned to her desk as she watched the events unfold.
As he turned to walk out the general work area, Alexander paused near the desk of the Ward woman. He was quite impressed with her no-nonsense attitude and strong work ethics. He gave her a brief smile as he said, "Very well, Miss Ward."

...

"Andrei!" he called out, as he exited the work area.
