New one, people!

The Drugs of a Breathing Mind (<---the title's longer than them poem!)
Nervous twitching
bouncing knees
jaw clenching
teeth grinding
toe tapping
fingers drumming
tapping, drumming
constantly
I'm a nervous wreck
biting on my fingers
crazy with want
I'm craving some more...

music

this is bad. I mean, for me. I was at church yesterday and all I could think was how I wanted to turn on my iPod and blast the headphones. A slight exaggeration perhaps, but not much. That's how bad I am. Yeah danz_angel and laieesha both wrote poems about addictions of a different sort, and I had to write my own. It's painfully short and doesn't begin to describe, but you get the message.

Knowledge
Lyrically maniacal
Maniacally lyrical
crazed in the violence
of my own emotions
I can't sit still
not even in my mind
screaming at the hollows
of my underburdened soul
leaving only empty space.
With nothing left to say
but that I'm simply lost for words
which it seems says all there is
and leaves no room for argument
which is the biggest punishment
where nothing would suffice
I'm wrapped up in the guilt of living
life so barely burdened
and the feeling so contrary
telling me that I am hurting
the thought so clean inside my head
that I know and do all what's right
but slammed against my confidence
"All I know is that I don't know nothing"

The title and last line from Operation Ivy's song. ("Knowledge"). The knowledge is that "I don't know nothing." That is, anything. Including any clue as to what this poem means. I know it means something, it's very meaningful, but I just don't know what.

My Song
I'm singing a song
And it's so beautiful
If only I could find the notes
I'm singing it loud
and it's so meaningful
if only I could find the words
I'm not quite sure of how it goes
but I'm the only one that knows
the song is short
but I don't know it all, yet
no one knows
just how long it gets
It's bugging me know - I've got to know it
but don't tell me a thing - it'll come in time, I know it
I can't listen to anything else now
for fear of misremembering
and in this dire state
I can't afford to mess things
up
So I'll just keep on singing my song
I know one day I'll get it right
It's when I have nothing left
for which I live to fight

I'm hoping it's clear what this is about. Because with this one I actually do have clear in my mind what it is. And I'm not in the mood to explain.

i get the My Song, but Knowledge, i keep re-reading, and i still don't get it... I can relate to My Song, because it goes with the whole writing poems thing, where you know what you want to say, but just can't find the words. for you, it's perfect, it makes sense, you feel it inside, but how will you describe it??

yeah??? did i explain that right?? or am i way off???

anyway, good poems!

For My Song...well, that's one way you could interpret it. That's the thing I like about poetry, it can mean the same thing and two different things at the same time, to different people. And I know that didn't make sense, but like most things it actually did. Knowledge...it's more of a just vague, poetry-for-poetry's sake (not a good thing) type thing. But nevertheless I think it's fun. Actually with My Song it was more of a metaphor for life, like when I'm living and I'm the only one who knows this song, but I don't know it full yet because my life hasn't completed itself yet. I'll know it in the end, though, and no one can change it or stop it but they can affect it. Get it? For both explanations?

^Aw luna I'm glad you liked them, and...you needn't feel small. If I'd read your poems (i.e. if they were in English might help) I'd probably feel the same way. And...yeah. So thanks.

*is poked* Ouch. *grumbles* I would be posting except, I've been strangely devoid of inspiration lately, and weak when it came. If I were to have updated sooner, you wouldn't have gotten pieces. And pieces...well, they aren't quite so nice as the whole thing...now I know what Billie Joe must have felt/feel like, being the reason for the space between albums... You just gotta keep writing....lol alright, I'll try to get one up soon, I promise. Never knew there was such a demand for my poetry, lol. I started writing one and I was thinking it was in a good place and everything and I seem to have lost the voice that started it. Voice needs to come back, ******. 'S the one who does the writing...ah well, shall be soon.

Wow. This came sooner than I expected.

So I was watching Insomniac Music Theatre on Mtv (the only real times I watch it - when its name sake is apparent) and all this music is something that makes you feel good. Or at least, feel. You know how it is. But then the clock chimed and I realized I get tired, so I decide to go to bed - it's 4:00 am, mind. I'm in bed for all of 5 seconds (seriously) and then a whole pack of new lines hit me. No, attack my brain, and I have to write it down right away. I snatch my notebook and the nearest pen and don't even bother to put the light on (it's pretty dark; only a night light to see by) and start writing. I put it on eventually because tired eyes straining...yeah. Anyway so I start writing and then it just keeps coming, like there's no pause whatsoever to consider what it is I'm writing like there usually is, it just comes out. So I decided that I had to put it here while it was fresh. For some reason I think it sounds like a song. I don't know how that happened...

Brand New Broken Record
Insomnia is my excuse
for spending my wasted youth
awake at night
with a violent mind
and no time for an answer
when the phone rings
but no one called
you spend all your cash
at the shopping mall
and the bookstore's where you find
your entertainment.

Education takes the blame
for inspiration, lack of shame
in being someone else
for popularity.
Irregularity
is the name of the game
which you like to play
in the summer
when in the pouring rain
you want to take a walk
but no one lets you
and they're gonna forget you

Leave your warning at the door
spontenaity allows for more
reflection on the things you could have been
you should have been
at the rock show that night
someone yelled out
and it started a fight
that the band came down
to be a part of playing
but they lost

So when you're out of good ideas
And you want to know what it's like to be a
star, like the Brat Pack, or Cameron Diaz
You eat for posterity and drink for the camera*

So once again I'm sitting here
with nothing but my inspiration
a pen a paper and my name
and my wasted youth

....

So. Whatdya think? *beams*. I think I'm gonna go to sleep for real this time...
Oh yeah, one more thing. The line with the * was added as I was typing...

Awesome! new one... but a little constructive criticism, i dont understand what you mean by 'wasted youth'. kinda didn't fit in with the rest of the poem. like it wasn't really related. i mean, i understand the rest, but it's just that 'wasted youth' part. or im just not getting it...

anyway, i feel the angst. i was a teen once, but i dont think i had that much angst. i was, and still am, a hopeless romantic, so my poems reflect that. Good job by the way!!! Keep it up!!

Yeah well the whole thing was a reflection of...stuff. To me, the "wasted youth" fits well because I feel like I'm not doing anything at all productive or important or anything, at this time in my life when I'm most able, I just lack the motivation. And it's kinda depressing...I sleep all day, ye know. This poem is sort of...I don't know...it's everything...and nothing...all at once...(no I am not singing Basket Case!)...and it really...IDK it just...goes.

ok.... so this part:
Quote:
reflection on the things you could have been
you should have been
fits with the wasted youth thing, but the rest... eeehhh. But I get what you mean though.

And aren't you a little young to be thinking that you're not being productive?? Because when I was your age, let's see what I was doing... hhmm.. oh yeah, NOTHING! And since that was about 10 years ago, as I look back, I don't see anything being wasted. I had fun. I had lots of memories to share. I didn't worry about getting anything done back then, and I'm doing pretty good now. So don't even trip, because gurl, you've got so much time to do whatever. Take it from me... I've been there, done that, and no regrets - well, except for one thing, but let's not go there

Oh I know, believe me, lol. It's not like that I just....I don't know I feel like I should be doing something. Not necessarily productive but something - anything at at all - that I will be able to look back at and say "yeah. that was good". The way I'm going, there's nothing at all. I mean, all it is is school, and I don't really have any good close friends, I don't go out, I don't even write that much. I just feel like...at this time, when I'm feeling so angry about things, and feel like some things should be done, I'm just not doing anything about it and I feel so...trivial.

Cool, thanks. Sorry, I'm a bit...would flustered be the word? I don't know. Just...eh. Because I've been away from the computer for a whole week, I've gotta get back into things...I did read Catcher in the Rye while I was away, and following in the tracks of (Green Day's, of course) "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?", I feel I'm affected enough by it to perhaps write a poem about it....((it happens to be - although this in no way is why I'm reading it - Billie Joe's stated favorite book, and the song tips its hat to that fact))...

Hmph. I've got a few things floating around in the deep dark, immensely scary and dangerous depths of my mind, I'm hoping that some of them will be caught and served within the next few days. Or weeks. Or months. Or hours. Or minutes. Or not.....(can you tell I'm bored?...). So keep a look out.

Oh btw, Lai, I like your new sig/avvy. I myself just officially tripped over the Potterpuffs days ago. They're adorable, aren't they?...I really don't know why I felt the need to add that but, like I said, I'm inexplicably tremendously bored, so you know....stuff.

I'd like to take this time to say that, while I'll still try to update this thread with HP-related stuff, the vast majority of what I write (coming in slowly at the moment) will not be HP-related, and I would like to redirect those interested to http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/nextmissrowling. Thank you and good night.
