Hi, and thanks for viewing my poetry spot! I hope you enjoy reading my poems.

Over a period of time, I will be displaying a set of four poems called “Hogwarts Houses”. They describe each of the houses in slightly exaggerated means (you will see that the Slytherin poem especially is greatly exaggerated).

Each is somewhat different to fit their house, but all follow a very similar pattern. Enjoy!

Hogwarts Houses: Ravenclaw

We are witty, we are smart
Our minds are all as fast as darts

Don’t fool us; we know your plan
We outthink you; you know we can

Our brightness makes us propel
In academics we excel

Books, notes, and quills are our friends
We could help you…but that depends

You see, we don’t always share;
The Hufflepuffs can help you there

We like our brains to ourselves
If we teach you, you’re sure to tell!

However, we are not mean
And will help you if it is deemed.

Do not worry; do not fret
We’ll be your friends…we won’t forget.

Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor

We are daring, we are brave
Good adventures are what we crave.

Momentary thrills are fun;
That is, till the moment they’re done.

We strive to meet the standards
But sometimes are not rightly heard

We want the best for our friends
We’ll stick together till the end

You see, we can be quite wild
There’s a small part of us: a child.

We are a rambunctious bunch
Need an answer? We’d have a hunch.

Sometimes we can assist you
Other times, we won’t have a clue!

Do not worry; do not fret
We’ll protect you…lest we forget.

lol thanks for reading! Yeah, those are my ryhming poems. I do love writing more serious poems too, but I thought for the first few, I'd do some fun, upbeat ones

And here's Hufflepuff...I couldn't do it in yellow or else it wouldn't show up very well, so I did the closest color

Hogwarts Houses: Hufflepuff

We are friendly, we are good,
We normally do what we should.

We have flaws, but we have strengths
For our friends, we will go great lengths.

Our kindness is evident
You could say that we’re heaven-sent!

Everyone can be our friend
We will help you until the end.

You see, we at all times share;
Need assistance? We will be there.

Sometimes people call us slow
But we’ll be loyal when those winds blow.

However, we aren’t perfect
There are things we sometimes neglect.

Do not worry; do not fret
We’ll be there…we hope we don’t forget!

The Slytherin part with conclude the Hogwarts set...and I'll post that..hm...soon. No definite day, but keep your eyes peeled!

This poem is the most exaggerated out of the set. I do not mean to be offensive in any way. After all, I love Draco. And alternative name for this poem would be “Slytherin: The Bad Side of It”.

Hogwarts House: Slytherin

We’re ambitious, we are mean
Learn from us; there is much to glean!

We’ll fool you; we’ll make you pay
It’ll make you stop saying “good day”.

You should know that we’re cunning
Which is sure to get you running

Fellow Slytherins are friends
We could help you…but that depends

You see, we don’t lend a hand,
Unless it is to beat you bland.

We like to shoot rude remarks
Think we’re done? We’re about to start!

Our house loves to break the rules
Our slogan is “Gryffindor drools”.

Do not worry; do not fret
We’ll be nice…but we might forget.

This poem doesn’t follow a specific rhyming scheme, but is under the free verse genre. I’ve described some of James’ possible thoughts that he may have struggled with late at night.

James Potter’s Thoughts about Lily Evans

Sometimes I wish you could see
The real James Potter
The one beneath the act
The one beneath the pride
The one beneath the arrogance

Sometimes I wish you could realize
The real me, aside from my appearances
How much I want to reach you
How much I care about you
How much I long to get to know you

Sometimes I wish you could grasp
That we do have a chance together
No matter how different
No matter how opinionated
No matter how harsh
We may seem

Sometimes I wish you could love
And not only be frustrated with
A boy longing for love
A seeker searching for more to life
A person like me.

Thats a good poem even though it dosn't follow a rhythm

Hey Cookie! I love it! And my head found a good rhythm for it, so it's not rhythm-less in my opinion. Not all good poems rhyme, and that's how yours is! I love it! Keep writing more!

I just decided to write this poem to gear us for the Christmas season. I created the mood of a contemplative student spending a tranquil winter holiday at Hogwarts.

Magical Snow

Magical snow
Is falling
Falling
Falling
Onto my face
Clinging to my eyelashes
My jacket
My nose
Breathing in deeply, I sigh
And am grateful for days like these
At Hogwarts, where we can relax
Soak
And enjoy
Brisk winter days
With nothing but the
Cloudless sky above me
Towering Hogwarts Castle behind me
Dark Forbidden Forest before me
Magical snow
Is falling
Falling
Falling
Into my dreams

I won’t say any names, but I know you’ll be able to identify who is the narrator for this poem and whom she is talking to. (I already gave you a hint saying that it’s a she).

Friend or more?

You’ve always been a brother to me
Ever since that first day
I laid my eyes upon you
Upon that scar
Upon that messy black hair

You were my brother’s friend
But when I first saw you,
I thought much more.

I had learned to keep my distance
Even though I’m not sure why
I’d given up hope
Because I realized
That you would never see me
For more than a friend
A best bud’s little sister
A small girl

But now…now I’m not so sure
Sometimes I glance over at you
And you look at me as though
You’ve stopped thinking of me as a friend
I can see it in your eyes
In how you speak
In your actions

I can almost see a hint
A waver
A flicker
Of jealousy on your face
When I reach up to kiss someone else

It almost feels weird now
To fall for my big brother’s best pal
After all, you are my friend too
I find that I can’t help it
I’m falling deeper

And I don’t know what to do

My favorite type of poem to write is free verse because I think it can be so beautifully written without having a rhyme. Sometimes I think there’s way too much pressure to make the poem rhyme that it totally wrecks it. So, here’s another one of my free verse poems:

The Depths of Draco Malfoy

You don’t know me
You don’t know who I really am
You don’t even want to.

Behind this smirking face is a heart
A heart that is hurt
Torn
Abandoned

How can I expect you to see?
I’ve never been loved.
I will reject anyone who dares to care.

Everyday I walk with my head held high
When I feel like letting it drop
Everyday I push around others
Because it’s the only way I’ve been taught
Everyday I utter crude things
Even though I know it degrades others

You think I’m horrid
Nasty
Evil
But you’ve never tried to look through my disguise
My mask
My pretense.

I cannot expect you to see
I cannot expect you to reach me
I cannot expect you to believe.
I am alone.

All of your poem are awesome! I especially love the James and HUffie one!
The latest on Draco is amazing. I'm pretty sure he feels like that SOme people like to steer away from canon in poems and say things that really don't fit n the characters, you however have it all done perfect
