Virtual Quidditch

Virtual Quidditch (VQ) is a game (Quantamus) created originally in Zonkos at SS.

Teams

There are four set teams in Virtual Quidditch: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw. They play everyone vs everyone, all four teams at the same time. If sorted, you play for that team; if not, you choose a house and stay with it. I'll keep track of your house.

Scoring/Points

Quaffle through the goals: 10 points
Catching the Snitch: 150 points, unless otherwise stated.

Current Rules

1. You must read the section on How to play (see below) before playing.
2. You must play for only for your house. (Choose one if unsorted and stay with it until your sorting)
3. Any disputes in a game will be settled by the Ref/Admin.
4. Please use full sentense and always state the team for which you are playing in your post (with the exception of sending a bludger).
5. Keep non-play post to a minimun (if possible, completely avoid it).
6. Never edit. Editting voids the post, making your play invalid and subsequent scores.

How to Play

Moves

This game operates using 'moves' and 'results', so it's crucial that you understand what they are.

A move is an action by a player.

There's a twist to it though.

In soccer, when you try to shoot a goal, there's no guarantee that it will score. It could miss, be intercepted, be saved, or it could score.

It's the same in Virtual Quidditch.

When you try to make a move in Virtual Quidditch (e.g. shoot, pass, send a bludger), you can only post your intention, and not the result. Bullet posting (posting more than one post in succession) is considered an illegal move. You must rely on your team mates to complete your move as you had hoped or one of your opponents to foil your move. However, if you post a move and a player from another team posts after you but does not state a result of your move, you may post the result of your own move in your next post.

Examples of correct moves are:
1. Gryffindor shooting
2. Slytherin sending Bludger to Hufflepuff..!
3. Ravenclaw passing to Ravenclaw!

A result is the outcome of a move.

The results of the move are determined by the next person to post.

Possible results for the examples of moves above are:
1. Gryffindor scores! Quaffle up!
2. Hit in the face! (Bludger hits Hufflepuff in the face) Slytherin zooms with quaffle!
3. Caught the pass! (Ravenclaw pass is caught by Ravenclaw)

Other moves include:
dodge (a bludger),
kick away (a bludger),
intercept (a shoot),
block (a goal),
intercept (a pass),
zoom (down the field) and so on.

Just to include some, examples of incorrect moves are:
Gryffindor shoots and scores!
Slytherin sends Bludger to Hufflepuff and smashes her in the face!
Ravenclaw passes to Ravenclaw, who catches it!

These kinds of moves predict the future. They're not allowed.

So if you're posting a move, make sure you post your move without the result. If you are posting a result, make sure you post either FOR your team (if your team is in possession) or AGAINST another team.

IMPORTANT:

Once your team is in possession of the quaffle, a team member MUST make a move other than shooting before a shot can be made on a goal.

This means that if you take possession of the quaffle for your team, you must either make a pass or zoom down the field before you may shoot. This applies to every time the quaffle changes possession, not just after a goal. If you intercept a pass, block a pass, block a goal, etc, anything that brings the quaffle into the possession of a different team, a move other than shooting must be made before a shooting move can be made.

Any points made from illegal moves will not be counted.

Moves you absolutely cannot make: There can be no ''abusing'' of other players. ''Abusing'' other players ranges from pushing them off their broomsticks, or punching them in the head, to snatching the Quaffle out of their hands, and other similar physical contact. This will result in immediate banning from the game.

Also make sure every time you post you post what team you are from and if sending a bludger make sure you name the team you are sending it to.

Ref: Tweet!! Quaffle up! First to reach it is...?
G1: Gryffindor!
S1: Slytherin!
G1: Gryffindor are now in possession. We zoom down the pitch.
S2: Slytherin are sending a bludger to Gryffindor.
G2: Gryffindor dodges the bludger! Gryffindor still in possession, Shoot!
H1: It misses! Hufflepuff take possession and zoom to the goals!
R1: Ravens send a bludger to Hufflepuff!
S1: The bludger knocks out Hufflepuff! Slytherin take possession and pass the quaffle to Slytherin...
G1: Gryffindor intercepts the pass! Gryffindor now in possession, passes to Gryffindor...
G2: Gryffindor catches the pass! Gryffindor still in possession! Gryffs shoot!.
G1: Gryffindor Scores! The quaffle is released! The first to reach it is...
S1: Slytherin takes possession and zooms!
Etc.

Snitch

The snitch will appear but hidden in my post. To catch it you need 3 different people(they don't have to be from the house) to spot the snitch (the spotting can be only saying "snitch" and it can be hidden too). The fourth person must make a point saying "(House) catches the snitch!" and the game is over.

The Quidditch Team Captain gains the role of a sub-official. In situations where confusion arises, they are in charge to choose the last valid move from which to start over and regain the game rhythm. Only Captains and the Ref may make non-gameplay posts (without a move in it), for instructions and clarification. All others must post a move in every post. Captains should also assist the members of their house (and any new players), explaining the rules by PM when possible.

Notes: IF YOU EDIT YOUR POST for any reason at all, grammar/spelling/typos/whatever, IT WILL BE DELETED. If it's that messed up that it needs editing it should just be deleted anyway. If you post and notice someone has posted before you, your post should reflect that and just say LATE.

If you do not post a non-shooting move before your team scores, the score is invalid. I edited a good 5 INVALID scoring posts because Slytherins and Gryffindors are not following the rules. If you cannot follow the rules don't waste your time playing because I'll just delete posts.... and maybe start taking points from your team.
