"Amazing," Excelsior said appreciatively, watching the room suddenly change form to accomodate the game they were about to play, a game which he knew next to nothing about. That didn't matter, they were going to have fun.

"Ok so how do you play goof?" She asked, she was totally clueless about that game. She looked around the room and it was amazing. She wished she had a room in her house that did that.

James hesitated. "Um...uh...ask Emily...I can't remember..." he said.

Excelsior turned his eyes towards Emily, as well, hoping for some guidance on how to play this game. He knew there was some sort of small, hard ball involved and some kind of long metal stick, other than that he was clueless.

Emily looked around wide eyed. Why her!? She wasn’t the one who suggested this, it was… James! She just said the lesson had been fun. She knew the basics, like they had played in class, but was no expert on the muggle sport.

“Ok… as far as I remember, we played with a bat… no, wait… it was a stick. And we had to hit a ball into a hole, with the bat.” She scratched her head in a confused manor. She couldn't remember anything else about it, except that Tuesday had almost killed her with her clumsiness and flying balls. “Are there no muggleborns or half bloods in this room?” she asked, eyeing her ‘friends.’ They would surely know how to play this confusing game.

Tommy had never heard of it, so she was no help on the subject. She didn't like how Emily eyed everyone in the room. God, she was such a snot!. "I'm a pureblood so I've never heard of goof. How do you get a ball into a hole with a bat?" She asked.

Emily could feel her cheeks flushing. She felt like an idiot and Ems hated to look stupid. She was usually such a know it all. “You aim the ball at the hole and hit it with the metal stick.” She said trying to sound like she knew exactly what she was on about.

Excelsior said, "Yeah, I'm a pureblood, too. So, all you do is aim the ball at the hole, and hit it towards the hole with that stick?" That sounded easy enough. He picked the stick up and looked at it. "Ummm, what part am I supposed to hit the ball with?", he asked. He figured he must hit it with the fat curved part on the bottom, but he wasn't sure. "How are you supposed to hold this thing?" He was holding the stick under one of his arms, like a crutch.

Tommy looked totally confused. "So is it a metal stick or a bat?" She asked.

Emily looked over at Excelsior. "Yes, You hold with stick with both hands and hit the ball along the ground and try and get it into the hole... with the fat part of the stick” What in merlin's gigantic y-fronts could be simpler than that?

She closed her eyes for a second as Tommy spoke. Trust Tommy Tom Riddle to pick up on her slip of the tongue. She took a deep breath and looked over at the girl. Emily was not going to snap… no siree. She was calm. Yes, calm. A nice game of goof would help her relax – of course it would. “You play with a metal stick.” She said keeping her tone calm and level.

"Well, that sounds simple enough," Excelsior said, trying to ease the tension. "I think I can handle that."

Tommy could sense Emily was about to blow, but she had asked the question out of pure curiosity, nothing more, but embarrassing Emily had been an added bonus. She gave her a sickeningly sweet smile and then turned her attention back to the game at hand.

"So how many times do you hit the ball?" she asked Excelsior.

James took what Excelsior did as an example. Ease up the tension. Or change the subject...hmm....he looked at the poster floating in mid air. Whenever he was the one to change the room, the poster was always there. The one of Luna Lovegood. His great-grandmother on his mothers side. His guidence. He turned away quickly and spoke "Thank you Emily for explaining...Okay...just hope the sticks aren't possesed by eurumphent horns...now...who want to go first?" he asked.

Tommy let out a giggle, trust it to James to lightened the mood. " A what horn?" she asked him noticing the floating poster and trying to get a good look at it.

"Ummm, I'll let one of you ladies go first," Excelsior said politely. "Or maybe you should start off, James, since it is your place in which we are playing this game, after all."

"Emily is the expert I will let her go first. So we can all see how its done." She sid giving her a little smile.

He looked back at the poster. Sometimes he thought the figure in it spoke. Actually, he was pretty sure it did. As he whipped his head around, he noticed movement in it. No, it couldn't be. He looked closer. Bring up the Quibbler. It spoke! Of course! Bring in the magazine that would be in his possession in approx. 50 years! "Oh, the horn blows up...but it says in the old additions of the Quibbler that it's really a crumpled horn-snack...I think...but one of you should go first."

Emily smiled sweetly at the group, “Oh, no. I’m no expert. I‘ve only ever played this game once. It’s James’s house… he should do the honors of going first.”

"No it's fine...the guests should go first" James insisted. "Or the giggly-pluckety- lupeties will get me" he said, that should get their attention.

Emily stared at James for a moment. “The what now?” she asked trying her best not to roll her eyes at the boy and his utter weirdness. People didn’t seem to like it when she did that - particuarly people with pet warecats.

Tommy's wand twitched in her hand, how she wished so could do a permanent sticking charm to that girl's eyeballs, if she rolled them one more time she was going to scream.

James had just totally distracted her now, "Uh James, what are you talking about?"

"The giggly-pluckety-lupeties. They are imaginary creatures that are real. Now...Emily? Why don't you go first" James said matter-a-factly.

Imaginary creatures that are real, she opened her mouth to say something to James, but then thought better of it. Do i really want to be pulled into that conversation, she thought.

She looked at Emily to see if she would go first. Put up or shut up, she wanted to tell her.

Ems was not amused. Why were they all pressuring her to go first? She tried her best to appear unflustered by all this and merely shrugged at James. She wandered over to the ball, took a random swing at it ...and missed completely. Some turf flew in the groups direction and she clapped her hand over her mouth “Ooops… sorry.” She muttered as her face turned a nice shade of tomato.

She turned back to the ball and tried again. This time taking a hard swing at the it and managing to hit it with some force, causing the ball to fly off into the distance, miles away from the hole. She shook her head as she watched it go. Ems, it seemed, did not know her own strength. She had done much better than this in class last year. She turned back to the group, her cheeks still a little pink, and smiled weakly at them. “Ok… whose next?” she asked.

Tommy giggled when Emily totally missed the ball. She danced out of the way of the flying pitch. She had just curled her hair and didn't relish the thought of washing, and then curling her hair again.

The girl was so snotty it was good to see that there was something that Little Miss Greenwood was terrible at.

"James, why don't you go next?"
