Welcome to the Higby House. The house isn't much, but it is comfortable. The Higbys prefer to keep the house more muggle-ish and there are very few things about the place that would establish them as the witches and wizards they are.

The living room is slightly smaller than most living rooms, but has a big fluffy couch up against a wall and paintings of different water scenes hang on the wall. There are four rooms visable from the living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. There are stairs located in the back corner of the living room that lead upstairs to the two rooms that serve as Jezz and Lizeths bedrooms.

The backyard is visable from Jezz's bedroom window and is her favorite view in the world. There are trees all over and a pond that is always full of jumping fish. She has many memories with that pond, including the time when she was seven and fell in.

The house is rather crowded with six people living in it. Peter and his wife Lillian are busy with their new child Joseph as well as trying to support Jezzabell in all of her activities. Also living in the house are Stacie (Peters sister) and her daughter Lizeth.

Jezz has invited some of her friends over for the summer holidays, and Lizeth has had a little bit of an attitude towards Jezz since she started working for the Ministry. All of Jezz's friends are welcome to stop by and say hi.

"Jezzabell Marie Higby!" Peter shouted up the stairs. She needed to get downstairs to take care of her little brother so he could get to work. If he was late his boss would never let him hear the end of it.

Lizeth walked down the stairs and over to her uncle. "She's not gonna be down any time soon. I have the day off, I'll watch little Joseph for a while." Then she picked him up off the floor and walked into the kitchen to get a glass of orange juice.

Laying in her bed, Jezz only slightly acknowledged the voice of her father before rolling over and falling back asleep. She had been having a pretty crazy summer so far.

James strolled up the sidewalk, inspecting leaflets and grass stems on the way up. Lately, he had taken sudden interest in muggle candy and ordinary herbology. Not tropical plants that bit your head off, just regular old plants like oak trees or maples with their leaves and even grass! He knocked on the door and waited, while examining a certain grass stem that looked...brown? Was it sick? Or dead? Maybe he should study a little more...

Peter heard a knock at the door just as he was leaving and yelled "Lizeth, someone at the door!" Then opened the door and walked straight past the boy on the porch.

Lizeth carried little Joseph in her arms as she walked to the door. "Hi, can I help you?" She asked. He must have been one of Jezz's friends from school, but she wasn't sure which one.

James turned quickly as a man rushed out the door. Okay...that was weird. Who was going to answer the door now? Question answered. A young lady, supposedly Jezz's older sister a maybe cousin was carrying a younger fellow. "Hello Madam" he said to her politely. "I am James, Jezz's friend. Though I suppose she would be tired at this point, since she was just at my house" he said. "May I come in?"

Lizeth smiled, "Sure come in, she's asleep upstairs, I'll just go get her." She lead him to a small kitchen table and pulled out a chair, then set Joseph on the ground. She turned and walked up the stairs. Her cousin was totally out. She nudged her gently and said. "Jezz, Your friend James is downstairs." Then she left the room and walked down to the kitchen.


About five minutes later, Jezz walked down into the kitchen. "Hi James." She said as she yawned and put a piece of bread into the toaster. Then she sat on an empty chair.

James' eyebrow rose. Jezz was tired? How could she be tired? He'd never seen her tired? Yeah...but for one sole reason anyhow. He didn't go into the girls dorm. Blah. Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah. Why would he? "Hello sleepy" he said, grinning a little.

Jezz pulled her toast out and put it on a napkin. "Why are you here so early in the morning?" She asked him. It was like eight in the morning. She yawned again and stretched.

James, still completely out of it, didn't know what she was talking about. "Eight? It's like...one, isn't it" he asked. This was confusing.

"Well, it has to be like eight, dad just left for work didn't he?" She asked herself out loud. Then she looked at the clock. She was right. "See, look." she said pointing.

"Dad just left for work...surely you mean your dad, my dad..." James said, tears welling up. He wiped them away. "Never mind. Your dad just left for work. Ah..." He said, still slightly confused. "What does that have to do with anything?" he asked, before looking at the indicated clock. "It could be Eight o'clock in the evening, couldn't it? Look here, you're all ready for bed!" He said, convinced that her messed up hair and tired eyes proved his theory that it was evening. "The only problem though is that I'm not ready for bed and it's not dark out" James said, twiddling his thumbs. "But thats two problems...the first answer is that I don't feel like going to bed and the second one is..." He thought for a moment. "Uh...The second answer is that the sun decided not to go down!" he exclaimed, certain he was right.

Jezz laughed. "I just woke up." Then she looked down. She was wearing a faded black t-shirt and red flannel pants. Her favorite pajamas. "And my Dad works in the morning. I can also tell you that it is a Thursday, because Lizeth is home, and that's the day she has off of work."


Lizeth shook her head and then left the room with little Joseph.

"You could have slept in Twelve hours late" James said, nodding. "And your dad could be late for work...and...Lizeth could have for got about work!" He said, now nodding very quickly. That was it! They both forgot and slept in, and Jezz slept in as well!

Jezz shook her head in disbelief. "James, how do you come up with this stuff?" He really was a piece of work. But with everything going on lately, it was a nice distraction.

James was confuzzled. "I don't come up with it" He said, honestly. "I figure it out" he said, still confused. Then he thought of something. "Imagine it, James Lupet: The confusing figure outer!" He said, his hands moving apart like a windshield wiper as he imagined his glory...that would most likely never exist.

Jezz laughed. "You are crazy. So, whatcha want to do today?" She asked him. She still wasn't sure why exactly he had come over.

"I am crazy" James said, agreeing "...and right" He added on. "Whatever you want to do" He offered.

Jezz shrugged. "Umm... I was gonna go to Diagon Alley to get more school stuff today." She looked at the wall.

"Ah...school stuff..."James wondered for a moment..."For which school?" he asked.

Jezz laughed. "Umm... Hogwarts..." She shrugged, "But nevermind that. I'm probably going to end up babysitting." She looked out into the living room where Lizeth and Joseph were.

James put on his horrified face."You're going to sit on a baby?!" He exclaimed. "Wouldn't it hurt it?" he asked, this time much inquisitive. James, of course, had no experience at all with baby sitting. AT ALL. NONE. ZIP. ZERO. Nothing. Nothing...
