Welcome to the new and improved Urdu Forum Announcement Thread. Anya and Maxie and Samia will maintain it. The Urdu Forum has been going through some drastic changes to make it more fun. And if you’re regular here, you’ve probably noticed that.

This thread will be in English, for the ease of every SSer around, including non-Urdu speaking members. Keep checking back for important announcements and activities. And a truckload of fun you definitely shouldn’t miss. And remember – Have fun. Huzzah!

Yes, the first official game of the Urdu Forum - 101 Reasns Why We Love the Urdu Forum has just been started. I will be editing this post everyday as members submit more and more reasons for loving the Urdu Forum.

What is one thing that all Urdu Forumers love to do?

Chat, of course.

After consultation with members that frequent the Urdu Forum, it has been decided that the Urdu Forum will be adopting a-nother fantastic SS tradition.

After the current Chat Threads in the Urdu Forum have reached a specific number of posts, they will be closed, and a new Chat Thread will be started. When this Chat Thread, too, reached a certain post count, it will be closed, to be replaced by a new one. A Suggestion Thread will also be opened up soon, where members may suggest names for new Chat Threads – In Urdu, of course.

The number of posts a Chat Thread has to reach before it can be shut down is still undecided, and varies between the three options suggested by members – 300, 500 && 700. You can vote for your favourite Option here.

Here is an English Translation of the Poll –

Option 1: 300 – Otherwise, we’d have to wait too long for new Chat Threads.
Option 2: 500 – Because it’s t3h middle number; Not too many posts, but not too few, either.
Option 3: 700 – Come on, we don’t want to start a new Chat Thread just a couple of days after another!

Remembers, your votes could make a huge difference to the way the Chat Threads are run, so be careful which one you vote for. =]

To help SSers out with various – for want of a better word – Urdu-related things, an Urdu Forum Tutorials Thread has been started in the Urdu Forum. Now and then, Tutorials will be posted here, so stick around.

The First Tutorial, regarding how to write Urdu Alphabets and Characters on your Computer, has already been posted, and the thread has been left open for questions related to the Tutorial, if any. Off-topic chatter is NOT allowed there.

You may request specific Urdu-related Tutorials here and, if I can, I will certainly fulfil your requests. You may also submit your own Tutorials, or suggestions, by PM’ing Maxie.

A new chat thread was recently started in the Urdu Forum, to celebrate Christmas with SS – Urdu speakers and non-Urdu speakers sharing the fun together. I’m pleased to say that it has been more of a success than I ever thought it could be, and within the short time period of almost ten days, the Thread already boosts of thirteen, fun-filled pages.

The Chat Thread – Mistletoe and Santa Chat – also has an adorable and funny Poll awaiting you, so jump abroad. The thread can be accessed here. The saddening part, though, is that the thread will be closed on the fifth of January, 2007. Still, on the bright side, you’ll at least have time to wish each other a Happy New Year.

The Urdu Forum now has the highest post count among all the Language Forums. This, of course, would not have been possible without the help of its amazing posters. Which is why there’s going to be quite a lot of fun for them all throughout the month of March.

After what seems like centuries, the Urdu Forum finally has something new running up! We are planning a new and improved Urdu Forum Dictionary Thread. It won’t exactly be a dictionary; more like an English-to-Urdu help thread. Constructive suggestions, ideas and opinions are definitely most welcome, and may be PM’ed to Maxie <me>.

I'm here to make a very sorry announcement here, today. Anya, our very own evil punk rock, is no longer an Urdu Language Forum mod. Anya has been inactive for a long, long time on the site in general, and the Urdu Forum in particular, now. You won't see her around as a Mod any longer, but I have to say this:

You were great, honey. I hope to see you back again, we all hope to. Keep on rocking, forever and always.

They say every loss is made up for by a gain, and it seems they don't lie, either. Our amazing ex-Hit Wizard, Prince Ali <allucha> who's been heading up the Department of International Co-operation for quite a while now - ever since Tara <hprwhg4rever> stepped down from her position as the Language Admin - has been promoted to the status of an Admin, and has now joined the SnitchSeeker Wizengamot!

Let's give Ali a huge round of applause for all his hardwork and bi-lingual dedication! Congratulations, Ali! We all know you'll do great. Here's all the best on your brand new job. <3

The result of the Urdu Forum's Valentine's Day contest, [ Scribbles aur Urdu aur VD], has been announced. Participants PM'ed // emailed me their entries, and a winner was then picked on the basis of several rules and pointers.

Congratulations to Rish <Star-Eyed Unicorn> for securing the special, first place in the contest. You may see his entry and post comments here. Rish gets a special signature, and a prize tag. Way to go, hun!

June is here and, with its arrival, we bid goodbye to a hot, dusty but nevertheless amazing May.

11th May - the second Sunday of the month - saw the Urdu Forum celebrating Mother's Day with endless zest and zeal. Two threads were specially started on this occasion, the first being a delightful colour game. The second - in all of the traditional SS fashion we so dearly adore - was Ek So Ek (101) Tuhfe Mother's Day Per, the title of which may easily be translated as '101 Gifts on Mother's Day.'

The games were definitely a blast. June activities are coming soon so, if you missed last month's, make sure you're there to join in this month's fun and energy!

This announcement may be pretty late in the coming but, nevertheless, I feel the need to make it. The Urdu Forum has an awesome, new co-moderator, none other than the sweet and active Samia!
