St. Mungo's Hospital

To enter the premises of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, one need only find a large, old-fashioned, red brick department store called Purge and Dowse Ltd. in Muggle London and step through the glass display window featuring a dummy modelling a green dress. Upon stepping through the threshold, the world you can from will have disappeared and you will find yourself in the crowded reception area that doubles as a visitors' entrance and an emergency room waiting area. There you need to speak to the Welcome Witch or wait for a Healer to collect you.

Past the reception desk and through a set of double doors lies the gateway to the rest of the hospital. The ground floor, lit by floating candles in crystal bubbles, is the Artefact Accidents corridor where the Healers deals with cauldron explosions, wands backfiring, broom crashes, etc. At the end of the corridor is another set of double doors, which beyond is a staircase that provides access to the remaining floors -- first floor, Creature-Induced Injuries; second floor, Magical Bugs and Diseases; third floor, Potions and Plant Poisoning; and fourth floor, Spell Damage.

Each floor contains a fair amount of rooms, long-term wards, and portraits. There is also bound to be a wandering patient or two. The fifth floor of the hospital, however, is less chaotic and provides a tearoom for visitors to relax as well as a shop that sells cards, balloons, and other gifts. Also located on this floor is the Midwife/Infant Care wing, a Healer break room (with sleep pods and locker rooms), and the administration offices.

O is for the only one I see
V is very, very extraordinary
E is even more than anyone that you adore can

Love is all that I can give to you
Love is more than just a game for two
Two in love can make it
Take my heart and please don't break it
Love was made for me and you"

Ink your name on my heart:
As you might know, St. Mungo's, being a hospital, operates 24/7. To begin with, as you meet your date at the entrance of Purge and Dowse, Ltd., and step through the window to enter the hospital. You'll be met by one of the on-duty Healers (NPC) who will walk you through some of the wards, the Potion area, where Potioneers work to create cures to the many maladies and injuries. You might meet some of the residents and patients, and stop to chat with some of the other healers along the way who might just share some funny stories including why a potion is better than a paste. Once your brain is full of information regarding the hospital system, and what a career as a Healer includes, you'll be taken to a table at the cafeteria by your healer, who will depart. Once here, you'll notice your table - decorated fit for a date! Your three course meal will be brought to you by the cafe staff, where you can really spend the time to get to know your wonderful date.

This was dragon balls.

First was the fact that Mrs. Westfield even thought that this was a good idea to submit him - what that plump witch thought would transpire by meddling in his life outside the Centre was beyond logic, which he regarded her now with the same respect as he did any meddling Hufflepuff - not well. Even his sister had known better than to suggest such a preposterous sort of thing and she was the one who desired emotional connections.

One Elliot Cox...not so much. Though in light of all that he had been through he was trying not to resist as much as before. But this? This wasn't dipping his pinky toe into a pool to test the temperature. This was requiring him to jump off the spring board of the high dive, perform two back flips mid flight down, and not belly flop. A note, Elliot Cox hated water.

Being turned into a cod for two years of one's life would put one off it, after all.

The only reason he was standing outside St. Mungo's now was because Miss Westfield had come along with seeing as she had some business to attend to inside. Likely needed to speak with Deshawn about his and Paige's joint physical therapy session coming up. But him? He had absolutely no intention of sticking around. Sorry whoever this matchmaking service he had never wanted in the first place had matched him up with, but not sorry.

He was leaving.

Tala was feeling uneasy.

She had been unsure when filling out the application, but that was nothing in comparison to the way she felt now. She must have spent around thirty minutes putting together an outfit, something she typically found to be such an arbitrary and superficial way to spend her time. What did one wear to a date that was meant to take place at a hospital? In the end, she went with a floral, bohemian sort of dress and white Keds.

Her whole way to Mungo's was spent contemplating sending her match a polite, albeit short-notice, apology and well-thought out excuse as to why she would not be able to attend. And if it weren't for her nagging conscience, perhaps she would have done it.

Obviously her conscience won, as she was now standing behind who she could only presume was her date for the evening. "H-hello," her voice was soft and somewhat timid, but she did greet him with a warm smile and kind eyes.

Was he the right one? This would be so embarrassing otherwise.

Practically stomping away like an agitated troll, Elliot Cox wanted to distance himself as far from this situation as possible. Still reeling from that phone call and now her disappearance, meeting someone under the pretenses of it being a date was six feet under as far as priorities in life were right now.

And then he hears a voice. Because of course he would. Since when had luck, or life, ever truly been on his side with anything?

So slips his hands into his pockets and tries to act entirely nonchalant. He had not been here for this absurd blind date and there was the chance that she was not the date in question anyway. Plenty of people came in and out of St. Mungo's anyway.

"You lost?"

ArianaBlack 03-11-2019 04:44 AM

Lost? No, she wasn't.

Though she couldn't help but feel that way at the current moment. She shook her head timidly, feeling entirely daft for assuming that he must be the one she was meant to meet here. Of course there was still a slight possibility, wasn't there? She couldn't be entirely sure as it looked like he was making an exit.

His face did resemble the photo they had provided, but again, assumptions were not just. His lack of hospital wristlets told her that he wasn't likely to be a discharged patient, but perhaps he had been visiting a loved one? A friend? He wasn't dressed as a healer, nor a nurse. Maybe he worked at the front desk?

Oh no, she had meant to say something out loud. "I am just.. looking for someone..." she looked at him with big, hopeful eyes. Perhaps he was the one...

Or maybe he wasn't.

sweetpinkpixie 03-11-2019 07:26 AM

Looking for someone. Well, that confirmed things didn't it? And he was hell bent on NOT confirming anything in that he was meant to be the one on this date. Nothing about him in particular reeked date either unless one found jeans and a red flannel to be considered first date wear. Spoiler alert, he did not.

"Oh, well...good luck with that," he said with a slight nod of the head. "Pretty crowded in there by the looks of it."

And he was going to continue making his exit down the block and off to Diagon Alley or something. Anywhere but here.

ArianaBlack 03-13-2019 08:34 PM

"Oh, I--" she was certain he had to have been the one, but evidently she had been mistaken. "Thank you." It was a genuine thank you. One that reeked of sweet innocence, believing that he truly did wish her the luck.

She hadn't been certain, actually. Maybe that was the issue. And if he didn't mention that he was also looking for someone... Then that was the confirmation she needed, right? This had absolutely been a giant mistake. Her cheeks flushed a rosy red as she looked back towards the hospital. Crowded. She wasn't particularly fond of crowds. Something that made her eyes fill with worry.

But she would have to go in and look for the one who was meant to be her date, right? It would be unjust to leave him waiting for someone who would never come. She didn't have it in her heart to stand someone up like that. Only someone without a conscience would. And Tala was not one of those people.

sweetpinkpixie 03-14-2019 06:09 AM

Know who did lack a conscience? This guy.

Or at least he had become very skilled at ignoring it, which was precisely what he was doing right now. And it was considerably easier to do considering that he did not know this woman at all and would unlikely ever have another run in with her. And if she happened to run into his sister while inside, since Paige was still having routine physical rehabilitation appointments, and she completely gave him away...well...he would just have more reasons to be cross with her than he already did.

More things he was trying to ignore, though he loathed being between her and his best mate. Over it, really.

So...one Elliot Cox continued on down the street, not looking back, with his hands in his pockets. He could maybe check out some of the potions shops and see what he could afford to restock.
