We all know that the house elf's job is to serve his or her master. But have you ever thought of the the endless possibilites of jobs the house elf must be asked to do?

This got me to thinking about a few questions regarding their jobs, that I thought I'd share with you. For instance:

Well I think a house elf's fave job would be cooking.

My house elf cleans the lint out of my pockets....


I would never subject any house elf to cleaning my brother's room... Yuck! *Peeks into said brother's room and runs away screaming*

I think that house elves would really like when they are given the opportunity to go on errands. They probably enjoy getting out of the house, even if it's just for an hour. Gives them a change of scenery, a breath of fresh air; no one likes to be cooped up for hours on end. Besides, allowing the house elf to go for a walk in the park or deliver something to a friend would be beneficial to helping him/her work better in the end.

My house elf really loves when I take him for walks and he likes picking up litter. He's really big on cleaning up the environment and making the world a better place. It's actually quite funny to watch him sometimes

I think House Elves love cleaning the kitchen. It's not that they spend all their time there cooking, but I think that's where they sleep, in either a little corner out of the way or a hidden room which could be easily hidden. They have to keep the kitchen clean or else their room'll become messy and smelly and they love clean stuff.

The one job I would never ask my House Elf to do is clean after my animals. I hate doing it, but if she was to clean it I'd have to send her off to a House Elf hospital for treatement of insanity. The poor dear almost had a nervous breakdown the last time I asked her

The strangest job I have asked my House Elf to do is spy...I mean watch over my enemies, or people who don't like me. I ask her to become invisible and keep an eye on them. I can't say anymore or else I'll break our sacred trust agreement. *zips lips and runs off*

My House Elf, who is away on secret assignment loves cleaning my room, she gets an extra day off for doing it. I make sure all my clothes ae picked up and safe from her so she won't pick one up by accident.

My House Elf also LOVES to clean the pool. She makes sure the filter is empty, the chlorine at the right level and the water tempature perfect. She even makes sure all my floats are inflated and working properly. She literly spends hours during the day making sure everything is just right.... Wait....that shouldn't take hours to do though. Should it. That means she has been... I thought she looked more tan! CLARABELLE! *Runs off to find her house elf lounging in the pool. Tries to be angry but luffs her elf too much and joins her in the pool. Elves need a break too.*

My House Elf, Sally, loves to bake cakes. It’s her absolute favorite thing to do. I think if she ever decided to leave, she would probably open a bakery of some kind. One thing she really doesn’t like to do is clean the basement. She hates spiders and they always seem to be down there.

My house elf, Pinicky, has always had an idea to become a lawyer. She has a flare for, and she nearly convinced me to shave my head!!!

Pinicky could that swallowing flame thing.... she's very talented.

I would never have Pinicky clean my basement because that is the scariest thing you might ever see.

My House-Elf, Pippi, loves doing the laundry. She's so good at it!

I think the strangest thing I've asked my House-Elf to do was to buy me a bubble-gum pink penguin. I don't know how she got one, but she did!

The most aweful thing my House-Elf and me could ever think of is cleaning the basement. We've been down there once and Pippi's father, Pappa, got lost. *Sobs* We aviod the basement at all times!

Last night I was sitting outside with my House Elf, James, and the strangest thing happened. James got up from his chair, climbed the large oak tree to the very top, and started cleaning the leaves. He had is dust rag with him and he was just scrubbing away. He spent hours up in that tree. I finally had to bribe him with a plate of his favorite cookies to get him to come down. I had never seen anyone clean the leaves of a tree.

So after posing this question to everyone, I decided to ask my house elf her favorite jobs. She told me that cooking for me was one of her most enjoyable tasks. She loves to be in the kitchen. And let me just say... it shows, her meals are amazing!!!

She admitted to me she doesn't mind cleaning around the house. But she did tell me that venturing down into the basement, where the spiders sometimes hide creeps her out. Funny how the two of us are a lot a like in that respect. She told me doesn't like garden work for much the same reason, as she does not like to encounter some of the bugs she's come across. The poor thing!

One job I feel bad giving her to do, and try to do myself is cleaning the bathroom. I mean honestly.. who enjoys that? My house elf does enough. Why put her through the misery. Although I guess it's not that bad as our bathroom isn't very messy..but no creature big or small ever wakes up and says, "Gee.. I want to can't wait to clean the toilet today." My house elf is no different!

As for a job I'd never give her... One thing is for sure.. I'd never send her to Knockturn Alley (not that I would need to go there...but still - if there was ever a time, I'd rather risk it myself.) My house elf means the world to me and I would never put her in harms way. Even though, I am sure if she did encounter any, she'd kick some butt in a duel.... I never want to find that out.
So whatever job I choose for her, it will always be one that keeps her safe!

My house elf, Stormy,loves to tend my garden. He takes care off all the weeds and make sure each plant has a good drink of water.

Of course, my HE is not owned by us. he lives with us as family, but does these jobs all on his own free will.

The one job i dont ask him to do is to wash the cat. the cat doesnt like it much, so we pay the Vet to do it for us.

My house elf Clarabelle has just informed me that she will no longer be cleaning out the produce drawer in my refrigerator. Seems there had been a forgotten head of lettuce in there that had turned bad and was very angry when Clarabelle tried to remove it. Now I have to call a rotten lettuce exterminator to remove the aggrivated weed. I feel terrible Clarabelle was put in such an unpleasant situation so I am giving her the rest of the day off.

Hmmmm, the strangest job I've ever had a house elf do is separate all the pretzles out of the chex mix.

It would depend on the HE. But most I think would love cleaning the kitchen or livingroom, so they coudl snoop on their masters

I've asked my HE to sew my socks that have had tiny holes in them, with the correct needle and thread. I've also asked her to take out all the X' in myAlphabets one time.

Clean out my brothers room Even i wouldn't do that!! He has amoeba in there that are centruies old

How about... if your HE got a job outside the home, what do you think it would be.


I think my HE would like to work in a bakery. She loves to bake cakes and pies. That would be her first choice for sure. Her next one would probably be working for a clothes alteration shop. She loves to make clothes for dolls and mend pants.

Good question Jor...his takes some thinking, my elf has many talents so she'd fit in a lot of places but I think she'd be perfect for babysitting children. She's dependant on herself and very curtious to others. She knows how to calm people down and keep the peace. She's great with kids to so it works out.

I wish I had a house elf to help me clean out my closet. I would compensate them however they wanted too.Although,it might take quite awhile... My closet has a one way door. Once something goes in, it never comes back out.

I really,really,really do not want to clean it myself.

I bet the poor house elves have way more stuff to clean and do during the holidays so I'm making my house elf some wonderful holiday cookies.

You know, I kind of wonder ... why doesn't the Ministry use house elves for cleaning purpouses? Do you think it's just because house elves only belong to a family, not an orginazation? But then ... what about Hogwarts? Would the Ministry receive ridicule for that? Or can they just afford to hire people?

Questions ... mwhahaha.

I think Hogwarts is technically a home to many, for a time at least. I don't think anyone sleeps in the Ministry And I reckon house elves are WAY older than the Ministry
