But you're great on your own, I can say this much," She gave a weak sympathetic smile.

"That'd be better," She nodded at his own place idea. In fact, and now that he mentioned it, it was a pretty great idea. Louisa might get that too! Back to her side of the story again, "Yeah. I lived with her since last year. It's so boring over there and I'm not allowed to go out on my own," She huffed and shifted a bit, "She's a bit old fashioned and believe that I need to wear dresses and heals all the time. Keep my mouth shut most of the time. And work on my manners a lot," Pffftt.

"I have a godmother, though, or a guardian if you want to call her. She's a witch that met mom two years ago and agreed to look after me while I'm in Diagon Alley coz mom didn't want to come over here," She furrowed her forehead, "There's still something she hadn't told me about dad. Real dad. I think he made her hate this whole magic thing," Louisa shrugged, "I don't really care that much, though. Why should I when he never check up on his own daughter?" If he had another family, then Louisa might just.. give him a piece of her mind.
Adam gave another shrug of his shoulders but he appreciated Louisa's sympathy. "Thanks...I assure you it sounds much worse than it actually is." Adam had never really run the idea of living on his own with anyone else, but he was glad to hear that someone else thought it was a good idea too. "I've been saving what money I can so I'll have something to start with once I graduate from wizarding school, but I don't have enough right now to move out." Adam had kind of hoped that he would have enough by his 6th year, but that just wasn't going to happen. "I guess once I move out for good will be a good indicator of how my parents feel about me."

A part of Adam just toyed with the idea of telling them while he was at school, through a letter maybe. He figured that either they'd just ignore the letter and throw it on their desk or aside somewhere and never even open it. Or they would read it, move, and never ask about him again. At the moment Adam wasn't sure what he would do if the second option came about, and that's what stopped him from writing the letter.

Adam couldn't stop his eyebrows from furrowing slightly as Louisa explained the living situation with her aunt. "Well that's just ridiculous," Adam said with a little roll of the eyes. "Women are supposed to be strong and confident, not the subdued individuals they were back in the 20s and 30s." Adam understood why some people kept their traditions, since that was all that they knew, but he didn't understand why those people tried to force those views on children growing up in a completely different kind of society where those morals and thoughts didn't make sense at all.

Adam gave Louisa a little frown when she mentioned the bit about her father. "I'm sorry that you don't know him and I'm sorry that he didn't stay around to know you. It stinks when issues between parents keep the one outside of the life of their child."

She knew he'd know what she meant, just as much as he'd know she hadn't meant he'd been playing anything different before. That was the point of the camaraderie of everyone working here, after all. Family understood each other.

Busying herself around behind the counter whiel humming the latest song she'd heard from Bert, Olivia glanced over as she heard another voice and saw a young girl rummaging around in her bag. "Certainly," she replied with a grin, proceeding to get the hot dog that was requested for her. "Did you need anything to drink, anything else while I'm at it?" She already knew that condiments were available for everyone just to the left of the booth, but she'd developed a habit of wanting to make sure nothing ever got forgotten. Plus, the girl really did look quite hungry.
Bert turned with a flourish as he heard a familiar voice calling his name, smiling at the woman working concessions noting the wink aimed his way. "Right away my dear Olivia," he said with a bow to her before straightened and preparing his next tune.

With a few taps of his feet on the cobblestone street to obtain a tempo, he began playing an upbeat song as requested. His bow and fingers moving steadily across the strings while he made the necessary movements and magical imput to make the clarinet and other instruments sound with his efforts.

So, instead, he very forcibly calmly turned his head in the direction of the voice.

It was Caroline!

Beaming at the sight of his Slytherin friend, the boy stopped walking just as she caught up with him. "Caroline!" But before he could give her a proper greeting, the girl was taking his cotton candy and leading him over to an empty table. Still moving rather slowly, Brae followed her lead and then proceeded to dump his pile of food on the tabletop. "Hey," he said to the blonde, sitting down opposite her at the table with one of his goofy, lopsided grins. Why did it feel like it had been so long since he'd last seen her?

"Aren't you getting any food?" he asked, raising a bushy eyebrow at her. 'Cause if she was hungry, he was more than willing to share. That's what friends are for, isn't it?
Caroline giggled, when she could finally see Braeden completely. And not just a pile of walking food. She pulled off some of the cotton candy, and bit into it. Hehe. All the sugar was going to make her terribly hyper. She looked around on the table what didnt the boy get. He had gotton at least one of everything on the menu. With a laugh that almost ended in a snort "Do you think I need to buy anything else?" Really she had seen Brae eat and eat and eat. But even him and Carter together couldn't eat this much.

And both of them could eat alot. Trust her she knew. "YOu were going to share, Right?" raising her own eyebrow.

She titled her head when she noticed a can shaped item in front of her. She picked it up? What in the name of Merlin? Wait? This was Coco-cola. She examed the can carefully. Giving Braeden an interersted look, looking from him to the can and back to him " Mmmm Brae, what exactly is a co co cola?" She asked the way she asked all of her muggleborn friends, these questions about there stuff that muggles have, to was weird asking about these things.

"Of course!" Braeden replied with one of his goofy grins as Caroline asked if he was going to share. "Just take whatever you want," he added, turning his grin into a friendly smile as he grabbed a cauldron cake and took a large bite from it.

With crumbs all over his mouth and large, round cheeks, Braeden watched with interest as a curious Caroline picked up the red can of Coca-Cola and examined it before questioning him about it. The Gryffindork swallowed, then flashed the girl an excited grin. "Coca-Cola? It's one of the best drinks in the muggle world! It's been around for ages, but people never tire of it! It's not the healthiest, though, I'll admit that," explained Braeden, raising his eyebrows a bit at the last point he made.

The boy went quiet for a moment, then wiggled his eyebrows in the direction of the can. "Go ahead, take some. I haven't even opened it yet," he told Caroline. "It might fizzle a bit, but don't worry, it won't burn." Unless she drank too much of it too fast while it was still cold.

Cove was walking the streets looking for foooooood. She was starving and just wanted something to eat and drink. Unfortunately, she (once again) was not paying attention to where she was going and almost ran into another girl. "I am so sorry." Cove said taking a few steps back. "Are you okay?"

"Really?" She said giggling, "I'm going to have to hold you down from bouncing after that meal." She said with a shake of her head. "I'll take a burger... as rare as you can make it, and a bloodpop please. Oh and a Thestral Coffee."

He'd been saving money? For real? Louisa didn't... expect it to be that serious. She, of course, meant it when she said it was a good idea to stay alone but it looked rather sad now that a fifteen years old was saving money to get out of his parents'. "I don't think you'll be allowed to stay home at sixteen, anyways. You should be at least seventeen," That was the law as far as she knew.

The almost fourteen years old nodded, "That's right. I wanted to tell Mrs. Brown that but she won't hear from me. She said I was too young to know stuff," Pouuut, because that was absolutely ridiculous! Louisa had read a lot of books and was considered just as mature as any seventeen years old. The girl herself was convinced of that.

She smiled, faintly, when he talked about her father. She was sorry too. Very, in fact. "I do want to see his reaction when he knows about me being a witch like him. I can't help but imagine him proud and smiling," Her smile widened at that. A man, tall, with no face was always in her head whenever she talked about a father. Jason would come and go, too, but a wizard father was definitely a GREAT one.

Right?

Shaking her head to clear it from the ideas, Louisa looked at Adam, "Sorry. I don't want to ruin the Carnival atmosphere. So, tell me.." She leaned on the table again, "Do you like Quidditch? You thinking of trying out this term?" Did they have Quidditch in the States?

Wow! This carnival was amazing, Charles thought, looking around dazzedly. It was astonishing to see this much activity and colours all around Diagon Alley. Yes, Diagon Alley was always busy and packed, but this was a new type of busy. Charles has never been to a carnival before because well, there hasn't been one! He was glad that Cherry had made the mistake of getting them to Diagon Alley today. Wait, mistake?

He grinned around, looking at all the food available. He had made his way towards the Refreshment table as soon as they'd spotted the carnival, because his stomach wouldn't stop growling. Now he thought of it, he's never been this much without food, and it wall all because of Cheryl, waking him up, grumbling about how they were very late (and it was only 9:00 am :O), dragging him off to the fireplace without food and then getting him here. He was glad she did all that though, because they ended up in a carnival!

"Amazing isn't it?" He said to Cheryl, looking around. He was sure that even Cherry couldn't not appreciate all this colourfulness. He grabbed a bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans from the nearsest counter and propped one into his mouth.

"I reckon they'd give me a Firewhisky here," He added excitedly, looking at the assortment of drinks stacked on a seperate table. This was getting better by the second.

Felipe wanted food!

So perhaps he was hungry? Yes that had to be!

The mime reached into his left pocket and pulled out-nothing!

Then his right pocket and pulled out- nothing!

He scratched his chin as he looked around then grabbed his hat in excitement.

Felipe ran up to a person and began eagerly tapping them on the shoulder.

Cheryl's feeling of guilt started to fade the moment she entered , this was the first time for her to be in a Carnival , Colours everywhere , LOTS of people , weird creatures , food , drinks it simply looked amazing and Cheryl was so impressed .

Cheryl nodded " It is " with a big smile on her face , breaking the rules this time was so worth it Cheryl thought to herself , refusing to admit that to Charles .

The awesomeness of the place made Cheryl forget that she is hungrey and that she has not eaten anything since the morning , until Charles picked up Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans she remembered and picked Chocolate Frogs and started to eat " Those taste so good " she said and looked at Charles who was busy looking for the Firewhisky , she pointed at the table where many goblets full with Firewhisky and said " There " then she walked to bring two cups for both of them .

Charles looked around as something/someone was tapping his shoulder. He blinked, this person looked different his face was painted and his clothes would've looked out of place had this not been a carnival. Wait, why was Charles thinking a lot? Why was he starting to actually analyze things? Now this was scary, he didn't want to turn into Cheryl. He shuddered slightly then turned his attention to the man that had just tapped him.

"Hello there!" He grinned wondering what this was about.

Wait .. WHAT?!?

Cheryl had just started making her way to get them some Firewhisky, for both of them, and she wasn't shouting at him for suggesting that or anything. She was cool about it. Now this was the weirdest thing that had happened today.

"You mean, er .. you mean you .. don't, mind?" He stuttered, wondering if she was just pulling his leg and was about to explode in a minute.

Cheryl , knowing that Charles will die from the shock continued her way and said while walking backwards " Yes Charles , Once in a life won't be that bad and we maybe won't attend a carnival again forever so yes " she looked at Charles knowing how amazed he was at the moment .

" What ? " she giggled " you don't want me to change my mind do you ? " and she stopped for a moment knowing that Charles will be scared that she will actually change her mind .

Adam looked at Louisa for a couple of moments before giving a little shrug of the shoulders. "I don't have any other family then an Aunt back in the States that is just as bad as my parents, so it will either be staying with them or moving out." Adam was also somewhat worried about being able to keep the whole thing a secret once he was done with schooling and out in the real world. In the muggle world Adam's parents would be expecting him to apply to schools such as Harvard and Yale, but for Adam he would be done with all his schooling and would be applying for a job at the Ministry or some other place of employment. "I'm not entirely sure what the law is as to how old you must be to live on your own, but I can tell you that I won't be able to hide my gift," Adam said, not sure of the right word to use, "once I am done at Hogwarts. My parents will want me to apply to college and I doubt that Harvard would take Hogwarts as an acceptable school on my resume."

While Adam kept these kinds of things in mind, he did try to keep them a little bit in the back of his mind because these kinds of predicaments were quite frightening to him. Not to mention they weren't really the kinds of issues that a fifteen year old should be worrying about. Adam listened as Louisa talked about her father, and a little smile played across his lips. He knew exactly who his father was, but for Louisa she could picture her father exactly how she wanted him to be. Having that luxury was something Adam sometimes wished that he had. "Have you tried to find your dad at all? I imagine doing that might be slightly difficult if your mom isn't really open to the idea."

Adam wasn't sure why Louisa felt that she needed to apologize for expressing her feelings and thoughts about her family. "Don't apologize, and don't worry, you're not killing the carnival food. And, if I'm seeing correctly, I think the person running the food set out some food along the side, so I'll go grab us a bite." Adam excused himself, walking over to the stand and grabbing a cheeseburger for himself and a hamburger for Louisa along with two cokes since he didn't see Butter Beer. He pulled the money he needed out of his pocket and set it on the counter, giving a little nod of thanks to the woman. Adam headed back to their seats and set the food down in front of him. Thank heavens he was finally getting something to put in his stomach!!

Adam took a bite of his cheeseburger before responding to Louisa's question about Quidditch. "I did play Quidditch for a little at the first wizarding school that I went to. I was a beater, but then we started moving around so much, and I felt bad having to leave the team half way through the season." Adam took a swig of his coke before continuing. "I don't know if I'll try out for the Quidditch team at Hogwarts or not. Do you play Quidditch?" he asked.

" What ? " she giggled " you don't want me to change my mind do you ? " and she stopped for a moment knowing that Charles will be scared that she will actually change her mind .
"No, no .." He said shaking his head, still shocked but trying to get over it. Woah, this carnival had brought out a completely different side in Cheryl. Which was good. Really good.

"But, I dunno, I think there might be an age limit ..?" He said tentaitively trying to scare her then burst out in laughter. This was crazy, Cheryl was going to help him get Firewhisky, there were in a middle of a carnival and everything was just, insane.

"I'm telling dad though," He nodded, indicating the carnival. Cheryl had said that they wouldn't tell their parents about the carnival but she should've known that Charles could never keep his mouth shut. Even if his life depended on it. "I mean, I won't be able to shut up when we get home," He explained. "Y'know how excited I can get." He added, shrugging his shoulders.

Then he realised that he hadn't explained himself fully and that Cherry might think he was talking about telling their father about the Firewhisky. Oops. "I mean about the carnival." He added quickly, before she jumped to the worst conclusion.

Harvard? Louisa chuckled at the idea of going to that college after Hogwarts- it was kind of a weird idea to her. Totally impractical, too. "That'd be.. weird. You can work at the ministry, though. Marina works there in some department that cares for Environment. She's saying that it's really great working there with the freedom to use your magic and hangout with other wizards and all. I think I will definitely apply for a job there once I graduate," where else would she get her magic appreciated?

Aaaand to her dad. Louisa nodded quickly, "I did. Well, not that much. When I was a first year I read in the schoolbook at Hogwarts about him. When he was at Hogwarts I mean. I only knew his full name but now I know that he was a Slytherin. I read his OWLs and NEWTs results, not as bright as I wanted but he's real!" She chuckled, almost to herself than to Adam. "There was no contact number or address… I don't even think they keep that. I tried to send him an owl but the creature never returned to me," She shrugged, "I gave up." And there was this nagging feeling inside that did not want to meet the father. What if he was terrible? Evil? A drunk? She wanted this bright image of him to stay undamaged for as long as possible.

"But you're staying at Hogwarts for the whole term, right?" She asked. He could tryout if he was staying for the whole term. "And no. I don't play Quidditch. I rarely attend the games, actually." She rolled her eyes at the stupidity of the game, "And when I do, so I don't stat all alone in the common room, I bring a book or fall asleep half the way through," She chuckled shamelessly. "But I knew that most boys love it." After a minute's pause she carried on, "Actually, it was flying that kept me away from it. I don't have a good balance on brooms. I don't seem to know how to fly upward without rolling over and on the ground." Louisa half-smiled, "My friend, Vashti, is a beater at our house's team and she helped me- well, tried to help me but it didn't go well," She had to continue practicing though. Dallin said he preferred brooms than sock-sliding and she did learn how to swim for him so why not how to fly on a broom? Maybe Professor Vee wouldn't be so disappointed with her, then?

When Adam came back with the food, Louisa almost stood up and cheered. She thanked him and sank a hand into her pocket, "Umm.. how much for mine?" It wasn't polite to let him pay for her food. Her mom wouldn't agree on this. Not that she obeyed her mom all the time but these matters usually were unbreakable.

[b]"Ultimately I would like to work to the Ministry once I graduate from Hogwarts...probably in the Auror Department. I imagine it'll just be difficult to try and explain to his parents why it was that he wasn't going to attend college at all. Of course, this fact wasn't to be mistaken as a sign of them carrying, but more as a potential dent in their reputation. After all they were the kind of people that would have a son that went to Harvard, and anything else was simply unacceptable. "Do you have a particular department in the Ministry that you'd like to work in?"

Adam listened as Louisa explained more about the situation with her dad, munching on his burger and taking sips of his soda as she did so. He was definitely starting to feel more energetic now that some food was getting in his stomach. "Well I'm sorry the whole letter thing didn't work out," Adam said with a little frown. "Perhaps this is heartless to say, but an advantage to never having met the man is that you can make him be whatever you want him to be, you know? Like a traveling wizard finding out information about magic's history or something like that," Adam suggested, waving his hand through out slightly to imply the grandness of the possibilities. "I don't know...that's at least how I'd try to look at it to make it seem a little less...depressing."

So Louisa wasn't a fan of Quidditch, huh? "I have to say I am more a fan of playing it than watching it. Depending on the quality of the game and the players in it, the games can either be really exciting to watch or really boring." Not to say that Adam was an exceptional player or that his games were worth watching, but he didn't think that was true in either case. Adam just tried his hardest and hoped for the best. "Sometimes it's more fun just being apart of a team and having other people striving and wanting to accomplish the same thing that you are." Adam couldn't stop himself from chuckling slightly as Louisa explained her woes of flying. "I was pretty bad at flying myself when I first started," Adam said with a chuckle. "For me it was the whole getting over the height thing that was the problem. I am really am petrified of them," Adam said, his hands starting to get clammy at the thought of it. Luckily during the actual games
Adam could focus more on the bludgers and keeping them away from his teammates and not the fact that the people in the stands were practically little dots.

When Louisa asked him how much she owed him he gave a nonchalant wave of the hands. "Don't worry about it. It's my treat," he said with a little smile. It was Louisa's idea to come and hang out after all, so the least he could do was get their food.

It was amazing that the boy could even handle as much food as he did but he did handle it and he handled it well. He took a bite of his funnel cake nearly seconds after ordering it. His green eyes flickered to the boy next to him, a faint smile spreading out on his face.

Being friendly never hurt, did it?

"This food's delicious."He said while looking at the other boy, swallowing his newest bite of funnel cake. He smiled at the boy who seemed to be about his age, hoping he was as friendly as he was, if not then well...Bailey would look rather silly, wouldn't he? GULP.
Everett stared at the candy-floss lovingly. It was so pretty and blue and sugary! So he picked some of the blue fluffy stuff, and ate it, grinning at the taste. Then he noticed a guy around his age talk to him. "True that." Everett agreed, grinning at him.

"I'm Everett Sutherland, gonna be at Hogwarts as a fifth year as of September." He introduced, almost holding a hand out for the other guy to shake, but then remembering that one hand was sticky from the sugary treat, and the other was holding the candy-floss, it would be a bit awkward.

A department? Louisa stopped munching on her hamburger and took a second to ponder that, "I haven't thought about that before. I don't know. My OWLs will show me where I'm good at and where I suck. And then I'll decide, I guess. Although I hear the International Coorporation is an interesting one," She didn't hear. She only read about that. Somewhere. "What about you?" She took a gulp of her coke, talk about lady-like eating and Louisa is definitely not in that. "Do you guys have a Ministry of Magic at the States too?" Dallin never seemed to answer that clearly.

She shook her head, "It's not heartless. It's logical. I think I have him in my head as the secret hero who couldn't meet me because it's too dangerous for me," She giggled, the sad eyes said it all about her false hope and she busied herself with eating and drinking as he talked about Quidditch.

When he mentioned he was afraid of heights, she choke on her choke. Quickly coughing, and her eyes watered a bit, she stared at him, "And you went with me on the Carpet Coaster? That's just... wow." She kept staring for a second before dropping her eyes before someone suggested she was swooning over him. Or something. "That's really brave. I don't think I have something with heights in particular. It's just the fact that I am flying as in I drive the broom and should balance it well and all. I don't really know. The Carpet Coaster was fun for me," She smiled and nodded.

"Thank you, I should get us some sweets after this then," Because, again, she was not going to accept this treat without returning it. Maybe not today but she had to. It was only polite to do so, and yes Louisa Carter may not be the politest girl on the planet but she could be with nice caring people. Ha!

"Yeah I am. I'm so sorry." Cove said. "It really is distracting. I guess that's kind of the point of it. Have you ever been to a carnival before?" Then again the board walk carnival was year round. "Cove Brett. Nice to meet you Feenella." Cove said smiling at the girl. "Do you go to Hogwarts?"

Carnivals. They reminded her of the childhood lost once Marie's dad passed away. She remembered herself inside the rollercoaster rides, or at the face painting booth, and maybe throwing a couple of balls against the dunk tank. She shook her head. Those memories had to go away, once and for all, or they would be...terrifying her the rest of her life.

Anyways, she was hungry. Shopping for supplies was definitely the most energy consuming activity. Once in front, she ordered a slice of pizza and a cup of butterbeer, paid for it and went to sit to a place nearby. Because she was a hungry person...and who knows, she might not eat a single thing for the rest of the afternoon.

Gah! So many choices! There were like 398572 different choices on the menu, and she only wanted one. Hot dog. Nah, too American. Pizza? Nah, too Italian. Although it probably didn't taste Italian under all the carnival grease. Maybe she should just stick to some Pumpkin Pasties or a funnel cake. Or a cauldron cake. Or maybe just some fries or something.

This was simply too difficult. -_________-

Harlow was lost and everyone was tall and she couldn't see a thing. She didn't like crowds. THey scared her, but she wanted to go to the carnival and she was alone and she thought she could handle it.

Harlow was trying to hold everything together. She was a big girl after all. Big girls didn't panic and they sure didn't cry.

She scrambled over to a bench and hastily sat down to collect herself and see if she could find a way out. She heard a noise and her head snapped up. "Oh forgive me," she told the girl as she placed her hand over her heart to catch her breath.

She began to relax. "I didn't mean to intrude on your mealtime?" she said softly once her heart had slowed down.

Nick has managed to give his brothers the slip and had made his way over to the refreshments area He was standing on his tiptoes trying to look overthe crowd infront ofhim at themenu so he could decide what he wanted to eat when he spotted Harlow and waved hoping she would see him. he was pretty thirsty and didnt really want to lose his spot in line
