I have loved many of the cupcake creations I have tried, but the one I love the most is the Unicorn cupcake cake I made. I have actually made it twice...the first time it wasn't the greatest but it was the first time! I made it for my nieces birthday party, which was just family so it wasn't too big of a deal if it wasn't perfect. The second time it was for my step-nieces baby shower, so it had to be perfect because more than just family would be seeing it. I learned from my mistakes and it turned out so beautifully. I think its the most beautiful cake I have ever made. Plus...who doesn't love Unicorns?

Here are a couple pictures of each one so you can see the difference. There is one major difference between the two that will be really difficult to spot. Can you find it?

First Attempt: one, two, three

Second Attempt: one, two, three, four

Suzy I love those cupcakes! You are so amazing with those I found the difference! I love making cupcakes with truffles inside myself

I have never been much of a sewer but am slowly getting more and more into it. I remember making a skirt years ago when I was around 12, but other than that my sewing skills are limited. This last summer I was super excited to learn how to make ribbon skirts and I am currently working on my second skirt (ALL on my own without help this time) and can't wait to finish it.

Here is my first ribbon skirt I did during our class.

My mum used to sew all sorts of things and I want to learn to do dolls and such too! I have quilt squares ready but haven't given that a shot yet either.

Thank you Liz! And that is such a cool idea for a skirt! It turned out lovely!

Another creative outlet I have is coloring. I love to color in the adult coloring books and I have tons of them! it really helps with my anxiety because it helps me to redirect my thoughts from whatever is causing the stress to what colors I want to use and where I want to use them. I really suggest it for those that have anxiety and depression issues. It's so freeing and when you are finished and have a beautiful creation in front of you, you feel so accomplished.

Here are a couple of my favorite's of the coloring pages I have done:

One, two, three, four, five.

The ear! Did you make that out of fondant the second time? Also, did you use the 1M tip to do your rosettes?

Like Suzy, I love baking. It's hard to say what I'm most proud of, but I do finally feel confident in making macarons. Cakes are what I want to REALLY master, though, and the first cake I ever sold was a marble pinata cake (full of pink sprinkles) for a gender reveal. Cake, cake guts, cupcakes, etc. lol. I used candy melts for the drip and it contains a LOT of SMBC icing. I was told it was delicious, and I'm glad it worked because it took a LONG time to do (I even had to make the cake layers 2x).

BUT another cake I'm really proud of is this Robin's egg carrot cake I made for Easter this year. It just looks so sharp and perfect. I'll never make such a smooth cake again! I'm still amazed that I was able to pull this off with American cream cheese buttercream. It usually NEVER likes me! Cake Pic2, Cake Guts

I love baking too! But I'm really bad for remembering to take pictures of the finished outcome.

How do you cook with sprinkles in the middle? Do you cut out the center of some of the layers and leave the top layer?? I've always wanted to do that but I have never gotten up the guts to try it. I need to get a spinny base for proper frosting abilities too.

But I often make my Mum and Mother-in-Law cakes for mothers day, and here are some examples; cake, cakeeee, cakeeeee and more cakeeeee. I have a habit of making Christmas Puddings and Christmas Cakes too, but my pictures are so unorganised I can't find any pictures of either >.>

I love colouring in too, and can actively spend hours colouring in... If I'm doing blocky, none shading pictures I love pens for their quickness but if I'm in the mood to be more detail orientated then I'll use pencils, Like with Aurora and Philip.

Do gift parcels count as art because I've always been really proud of this one for my cousins baby shower.

For the pinata cake? I put the sprinkles in at the very end! After everything was baked and cooled, I used a round biscuit cutter to just take some out of the center of each layer and then when I stacked it all up and iced it like a regular layer cake, it had a hollow center. The hollow center is where i popped in the sprinkles before icing the outside. Here's a pic of what I mean (ish). I wish I had saved more photos of how to do this, but it was easy to figure out and I'm sure there's some youtubes on how to do this!

I LOVE the roses on your mums' cakes! Are they made with icing or fondant or gumpaste?

I love that we have so many creative people here on SS! Non-creative types (like my sister) just don't get it.

These cakes and coloring pages are so great!!! Good job Tori!!!!

As I was saying in the dark side thread. I made my brother's wedding cake. Just a small 6 inch two layer round for them to cut into and I think around 100 cupcakes for the guests, maybe less. They got married in the small Maritime Museum at the port where all the cruise ships leaves from our area. It's a really gorgeous place, so they wanted like seashells and beach theme. So I got candy molds in the shape of seashells and made idk how many of them out of candy melts. But i know by the time i was finished my back and feet were basically dead lol I got multiple colors because shells aren't just white so i got a light pink, a sandy color, and white.

They had their reception at a restaurant near the museum so I got to deliver the cake/cupcakes the night before and got to put it away in the kitchen freezer, then the next day after the wedding and before everyone came over for the reception, I got to go in the kitchen to finish the cake by putting the seashells on it and the brown sugar around it on the cake plate to make it look like sand.

My brother and sister-in-law were super happy and impressed as well as their guests!

Here are some pictures! In the last picture you will notice different cookies...I didn't make those. Just the cake and cupcakes!

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven

OH PS! The cake plate that it is on is an antique cake plate that was my great-grandmothers and is now mine. It's absolutely stunning and is only used for special occasions.

Look at all the pretty baked goods! Iím crazy jealous of yíallís baking skills. I also love the coloring pages, gift parcel, and skirt. (P.S. Liz, did you hand-stitch that skirt or use a machine?)

Switching gearsÖ for those who don't know, I'm into doll customization, which involves taking a doll (e.g. Barbie) and repainting the face, rerooting/dyeing/restyling the hair, and making a new outfit/accessories. I've been at it for a long time (almost 15 years) and I've loved all my repaints in one way or another, but the one Iím most proud of is the 17-inch Captain Hook (Once Upon a Time version) doll I made for the Once Upon a Time convention in Orlando last year. He started out as this doll, but he got his hair cut, dyed a few shades darker, and restyled, as well as a face repaint. I probably couldíve left his eyes alone, but I wanted a brighter blue - that and I have my own style of repainting eyes. I also added eyeliner and facial hair, and I made his sideburns slightly longer and darker.

The repainting was the easy part; the hard part was making his outfits, of which he needed three - one for each day of the con to match each of my cosplays. I ended up making him 2 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, 3 vests, 2 coats, a belt, and a pair of gloves. The only thing he wears that i didnít make are his boots, which were repurposed from a Prince Hans repaint. I also painted 3 rings on his right hand and made him an earring, necklace, and hook, of course! The hook was made by sewing a faux leather mitten for the doll, attaching a large jewelry clasp to the top, and holding the mitten in place with a leather strap wrapped around the dollís wrist. That way, it can be removed should I ever need to repurpose him into a different character! The whole process took about 3 months, and this was on top of making my own outfits for the con.

Thatís the most time and effort Iíve ever spent on a single repaint, but the thing that makes me most proud of him is the reactions I got at the con. Several of the fans (and some of the hotel employees too) thought I bought him and asked me which merchandise booth he came from, and I even had one lady commission me to make a doll for her! But the best reactions I got came from the celebrity guests. I had the doll for one of my photo ops with Colin OíDonoghue (the actor who played Hook on the show), and when he saw the doll, he did a double take and asked where I got it. When I told him it was a repaint that I did myself, he was really impressed! The other cast members seemed to like the doll too, and a few of them wanted me to do dolls of their characters.

Hereís some pics, and Iíve also included some of the outfits as they appeared in the show for reference:

Outfit 1: Doll Reference

Outfit 2: Doll Reference

Outfit 3: Doll Reference

Close-ups: Face Rings Tattoo
