Tabitha Octavia Plexio Accidents & Catastrophes | The Twins and their Family Dapper Bowties | I am Unicorn This thread is for the discussion of the Twins and their relationship with their Family. Here are somethings to think about when discussing this topic:
»Fred and George were always the troublemakers of the Weasley Clan. Do you think because of this their relationship to their family was different than the rest of their siblings? How do you think being troublemakers effected their relationship with their parents? Do you think they ever cared that their Mother always spoke higher of their older brothers(and Ron when he became a Prefect) than of them? Quote:
"...Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny..." - Ron Weasley Quote: Molly: "I don’t believe it! I don’t believe it! Oh, Ron, how wonderful! A prefect! That’s everyone in the family!" George: "What are Fred and I, next-door neighbours?"
»How do you think the fact that they are twins effected their relationships with their family? They say that twins have a very strong connection, do you think this ever irritated their siblings?
» After the Twins finally became a wild success with their Joke shop, how do you think their family's view of them changed? We only really see what Ron and Ginny's takes on it are in the books. How do you think their other siblings felt? How do you think Molly felt after she had spent years telling them it was all a waste of time? These are just some suggestions to help discussion along, feel free to share any of your thoughts about the Twins and their relationships with the family. within SS rules, of course |

I think the twins had a good relationship with their family. Ok, Molly yelled at them loads, but she was absolutley devastated when Fred died :'( And I think Molly just wanted what she thought was the best for her sons, and like all parents, got cross.
Arthur didn't seem to mind Fred and George's jokes so much. He told them off when it was really serious, but probably had a longer temper than Molly and was at work a lot of the time the twins were making mischief
Bill and Charlie aren't really mentioned enough to say how good their relationship was, but the twins never really seem to argue or annoy Bill and Charlie, and both help out at Bill's wedding without a problem, meaning they probably got on well, I think.
I think Percy, complete opposite to the twins, naturally didn't get on too well, and probably spent a lot of his childhood being teased and annoyed by them, always feeling the odd one out. When he got older, their personalities probably stayed the same and got stronger, meaning it would be hard for them to get along, but they didn't hate each other.
When Percy left the family in OotP, the twins were angry with him, probably fed up of his constant rule following and him arguing with their parents and going off. Putting work in front of his family. But when he apologised in DH, Fred was one of the first to forgive him, followed by George, and Percy was extremely protective of Fred's body. I think that they made up so quickly then was due to the battle situation they were in, and Percy coming to fight.
Ron often seemed annoyed with the twins, they pranked him, they annoyed him, but he also seemed deeply impressed, i think. He found their shop amazing and really admired what the twins did to Umbridge
I think Ginny, being their only sister, had a good relationship with the twins too. They were protective over her, with her boyfriends, but not as bad as Ron. They could see Ginny wanted to grow up.
I think once the twins opened their joke shop, the family, especially Molly, became very proud of her sons, especially after she saw how well they were doing it.
The twins had a very strong bond, which I think meant they always did stuff together. This may have annoyed Molly, thinking one twin led the other into trouble. The way they answered back to her scolding probably annoyed her more, and when Arthur wasn't there it was two against one, and she was going to have to shout.
But overall I think the twins had a good relationship with the other Weasleys, even though their mischief could be annoying.

Holli Weasley née Lewis Magical Transportation | Did you just lose something? The GAME? Sorry... 'Justin Bieber, he is the man!' U mad, Felton!?
I have no doubt that all of the Weasleys loved them, no matter what.
With Molly, she would yell at them, yeah, all of our parents do! They caused mischief, but maybe, deep down, she wanted to laugh along, she knew they wouldn't do anything serious, or purposely hurt someone. If they did, they would do the honourable thing and own up, and that's all she wants. She just wants them to be OK. She was impressd by their business skills, unwillingly, though. She was obviously devastated when Fred died, they all were!
Arthur had a good relationship wth the twins, unlike Molly, he laughed along at their jokes, and tried not to laugh at their pranks. The only times he got mad at them was when they tried to make Ron do the Unbreakable Vow, and when they gave Dudley those sweets... Nice one!
Percy was a complete opposite to them, and that made it hard for them to get along. He was a Prefect, they were rulebreakers. That's how he saw it, he didn't think about family before responsibility. But when Percy apologised, Fred was the first to forgive him, then George. They always loved him, and obviously missed him being there. And maybe they missed pranking him.
Ron was annoyed at them most of the time, but he probably envied them a little bit... They had lots of friends, everyone liked them, they were funny and they had girls fawning over them a lot. Or so I believe But he loved them, they were close, no matter how much they pranked him. They were protective of him and...
Ginny. I think the person they had the best relationship with was Ginny. She was a troublemaker as well, just not as big as them. They were very protective over her, wanting her to be happy, and I think that they would've done the "big brother talk" to her boyfriends...
Charlie and Bill, from what we see of them, do have a good relationship with the twins. They appreciate their good humour, and the twins respect them, them having been HB and QC. They were just glad that they had a sense of humour as well!
So, the twins pranks and everything did not count against them. They had a good relationship with the other Weasleys, despite everything...

The twins are really loveable people. And of course all the weaselys loved them.
Molly as their mother really loved them and always wanted them to do well. Of coure she yelled at them on many occasions. Though she just wants them to do the right things. Arthur was you could say protective of them. Percy, well he might have thought of them as gits. Because he being the smartest one and not approving of their actions. Though of course their is brotherly love between them. Ron is you would say a prank target for both of them. But Fred & George always took care and picked on Ron as him being the youngest. However Ron obviously loved them both for being their for him. I guess the twins made fun of Bill for him being a werewolf. But Bill being one of the oldest of course cared for them. Charlie well there isn't much to say about him because he's not in the movies and rarely in the books. Though they still have a relationship between them two and Charlie even though he's rarely with them. Now finally there's Ginny. On some occasions Ginny must be annoyed with always being taken care of by Fred & George. But I know she loves them because they love her and want nothing bad happening to her. Because of she being the youngest and only girl. I think she and the twins have the best relationship of all.
Fred & George will always be loved by their friends and especially family.

I don't think Fred or George minded the way their siblings were spoken of higher than them. They always knew what they were going to do and were very determined. I also think their relationship contributed to it to. When there mother wasn't supporting their idea, they were supporting eachother.
I think the twins and their success effected everyone in the family differently. I think secretly, Mrs. and Mr. Weasley were extremely proud of them both. Bill and Charlie were also proud of how much they had grown up into buisness men. I think Percy never really knew what he thought of twins. He had the tougher job of being the 'big brother' to both of them and was secretly jealous of their relationship. He never had a sibling he got along with. Ron also would be tough because of how much they teased him but I would hope he has always looked up to them in a way. Ginny wouldn't think much of it, she would be proud, but she seems like the type of person who had been expecting this all along.

According to me, Fred and George had a great relationship with the other family members...While reading the books, I felt as if though the Weasley parents scolded them, underneath they were too proud of them too! Their relationship with Ron and Ginny is great too! Though they are sometimes over protective of their youngest and only sister, which served to only irritate her, they often teamed up with her fun.. Ron was always their targets for their 'joke' experiments. But Ron loved them as much as they loved him.
I don't think that they minded when their mother praised Percy or Bill or Ron more than them. i think that this is their one main quality that they did not grudge on such minor things. Maybe, they knew that all parents view each of their children equally...
I think that aside from their funny faces, they were serious individuals and responsible ones too!

*Ahem* Soooo...I think the the twins are sweet, funny, loyal, and just fun-loving guys. I think for the most part that his parents speaking higher of his other siblings do not bother them because they never wanted to be prefect or to accomplish some of the things that their older siblings did. Not saying that they aren't motivated or smart because what they did pull off shows us that. I will say that with any teenager with constant mood changes that I think that it may have bothered them on occasion...I mean come on how many times have we as a teenager or child took something the wrong way just because we were in a bad mood...same thing goes with them. I do not think it was often but I am sure that some not so good thoughts crossed their minds when they heard anything like this. The twins knew what they waned early on in life. They knew that they did not want to follow in their siblings footsteps. They knew that they wanted to open up a joke shop...they knew they would be good at it and of course they were. They were very profitable from it and it was something that they actually enjoyed doing. I mean come on, how many of us would like to wake up and look foward to work? I know I sure would.
I'm sure all of the siblings were proud of them. I think they would be proud of them no matter what they ended up doing not including anything illegal of course. That's the beauty of a family is the support and love that they give you and I am sure that we can all agree the Weasley was a very supportive and loving family. Maybe they will adopt me? I'm sure Molly felt bad for saying that everything they were doing was a waste, but she is a mother and we all want what is best for our children. I think that she is very proud of them now along with Arthur, but I don't think he was ever that against it to begin with.
All in all the Weasley's are amazing and Fred and George made the Burrow that much more entertaining. They are everything I would want in a friend. I could go on forever haha, but I will end this at here for now |

I think until the point that they finally purchased a shop and started selling items, no one really took them seriously. They were always playing pranks on people and teasing and laughing at whoever they played it on. They were always looking for laughs, testing products on people.
Molly didn't approve but in their 6th year realized what she might lose after the quidditch cup. I don't know if that changed her mind about their selling the jokes and stuff that they created. But when they finally set up shop, she realized how serious they were about those products, and I think that's when the family and even their friends finally respected them and recognized them for who they were!
