Okay so I finished all the stuff with Sorceror's Stone, but every time I try to click on Chamber of Secrets, I don't get anywhere. How am I supposed to move on?

Yes, make sure you get sorted FIRST rather than trying to take everything step by step in order! You get zero points for collectibles without being sorted and one point per collectible after being sorted.

Book one is the only book open right now. The other books will likely come when the site opens for everyone. This way we don't get so far ahead of the new members.

While potion making,If you've added wrong amount of ingredients dont proceed......Click the back button,atleast we can get one point for brewing wrong....but if we proceed still ,cauldron will get melted and you'll lose 5 points, also we've to buy new cauldron

Umm..I have a question. Why is every time I finished brewing a potion it always come back to the first step? Did I do something wrong? because I think I already did everything according to the instructions

It's a glitch. Some people are having the same problem

you can re-take some ingredient.so you can save your galeons. because you can collect galeons back when book two was opened in October

practice before making potions because if it fails you'll lose a lot

Am I missing something about casting spells, or is it just insanely hard? Or is the door in the Forbidden Corridor just for practice?
Edit: Realized the problem; the instructions don't tell you about repeating the process for each letter that shows up.

So, I just finished brewing the first part of Cure for Boils, and it tells me to come back in 80 minutes to finish. I can't seem to get back. How do I?

When you visit each scene, you need to move your mouse all across the screen. If an object lights up purple, click it. It's a collectible. You need to zoom in (click twice) in the scenes, too, to see additional details and more collectibles.

What Pixie was saying is if you get sorted first, you get house points for collectibles. Otherwise, you just get the collectible with no points.

Go back to the same page where you could see the potions available to brew and which ingredients you needed to buy for each one. Next to the potion you needed to come back to will be the word BREWING. Click that, and it'll take you back.

I guess this must be the glitch other people are talking about: it says "Begin this potion" for me. I guess I'll have to start over; I hope I didn't lose the ingredients I spent on it though.

Potion tip: Pewter cauldron works for everything it seems. The other two only speed up heating time, which is negligible compared to the brewing time. Save your galleons.

Does anyone know if there's anything to collect in the chess room? I didn't see anything, but it seems weird to have a scene with no collectibles or extra info.

I've noticed that some people have been able to collect items that I haven't been able to find - a candle for instance. Do we have any idea how many collectables there are in book 1 so we know when we have done?

Also, I know you can send certain things as gifts, but do we know what the point of this is? It doesn't seem you can interact with most things.

A few tips on potioning in no particular order:

1) The following are regenerative ingredients found in the story and don't need to be bought:
Dried Billywig Stings (Chapter 8, Hagrid's Wooden House)
Wolfsbane (Chapter 8, Hagrid's Wooden House & Chapter 15, Into the Forbidden Forest)
Horned Slugs (Chapter 10, The Mountain Troll)
Mistletoe Berries (Chapter 12, Christmas at Hogwarts)
Bezoar (Chapter 17, The Hospital Wing)

You have to be out of an ingredient to get it again, and some people have a glitch that for Wolfsbane, they can't get it again at Hagrid's Wooden House and have to return to the Forbidden Forest for it.

2) The potion breakdown:
Wideye or Awakening Potion - 9 points - 162 points per galleon - 95 minutes
Sleeping Draught - 11 points - 49.3 points per galleon - 100 minutes
Forgetfulness Potion - 9 points - 29.7 points per galleon - 95 minutes
Cure for Boils - 3 points - 27 points per galleon - 80 minutes
Antidote for Common Poisons - 7 points - 18.3 points per galleon - 85 minutes
Herbicide - 9 points - 14.4 points per galleon - 95 minutes

3) Do NOT click "Come back later" or navigate away from your potion while it is brewing. Just let it simmer on in its own tab or window. A lot of potions have been lost this way. Pottermore is still in Beta, and this is one glitch that still needs to be fixed.

4) Grab bottles from the very top so they don't spill. To pour, lean them over the rim of the cauldron.

5) When making Sleeping Draught, wait for lavender to stop swinging before letting it go into the mortar; it needs to be vertical.

5.5) Wait for the counter to read 4 before even grabbing standard ingredient. I almost never have Sleeping Draught glitches now that I have that figured out.

6) Watch your temperature! Use the blue and orange buttons to turn heat off and on when it is in the 'green' range (between the two gold bars). If it goes above the range, click back before your cauldron melts. You'll lose your work, but you won't lose 5 points and your cauldron.

7) When you reach the second part of Sleeping Draught, you'll have to heat the cauldron on high for 60 seconds. Use the red button to quickly bring it up to the range and then switch back to using the orange and blue buttons. This will help you from running out of time.

7.5) You can save a lot of time by adding Valerian and stirring while Sleeping Draught is heating. Only do this when temperature is in the green.

8) Don't bother buying the brass or copper cauldrons. It won't save you any brewing time. They simply change the amount of heating time. I only ever use my copper cauldron when brewing Sleeping Draught because the second step is more time consuming in heating, but pewter works fine. Save your galleons; use pewter.

9) If you make any mistakes making your potion, hit the back button. You'll lose all of your work, but you won't lose any points at least.

10) When stirring, move your mouse in big circles clockwise or anti-clockwise, however indicated.

11) If you are stuck in Potion Loop (that is, potions restarts on you every time you complete first phase) or just have continuous glitches, fail on purpose by waving your wand early or try using another browser. Chrome works well for me.

12) If you are a Pottermore Slytherin, please do the opposite of Tips 1-11. It's war.

This is why I'm in Ravenclaw; we analyze things to death.

I do have a question though, the ingredients in the chapters, are they automatic or do you have to find and click?

You have refind them every time you run out. You can't keep going back and adding to stock either. You have to be out of them to get them again.
