As we all know Harry Potter was orphaned as a child. Do you think his close knit relationship to the Weasley clan was something more than friendship?

Do you think Harry looked at the Weasley's as a surrogate family? Each of the Weasley kids as his own siblings in some ways? Or at least Ron as the brother he never had? Do you think that perhaps Harry clung to them as some sort of lifeline to what a REAL family would have been like for him since he was stuck with the Durlsey's most of his life?

What are your thoughts on this?

I think that he definitely looked at the Weasley's like they were a surrogate family. I mean he cared quite a bit for all of their welfare and he did get quite close to them. Although I don't think he looked at all of them as family. If he did that would be just icky considering he married Ginny. But I do believe that they each played a different role in his life that is consistent with the expectations/roles our families play.

I think he made him into his family, and it was both sided! They considered him one of their children and treated him like a son! Ron was like a brother to him, and he was like another son to Molly and Arthur. The Dursley's might have been his biological family, but they weren't his "real" family.

He most definitely looked at the Weasley's as a surrogate family. The Burrow was one of his favorite places to be. He cared for the Weasley's and the Weasley's cared for him. I think he looked at each member of the Weasley's like family. I think he was a lot closer to the parents, Ron, Ginny and the twins only because he had more time to spend with them. Molly and Arthur treated him as if he was their own. I think he clung to them even more because of the home life that he has. I still think he would have thought of them as family had he not lived with the Durselys, but perhaps his longing wouldn't have been so strong.
