Okay so i don't know probabaly someone else has noticed (me being totally oblivious to everything haha) SO henizipah Smmith is related to Helga Hufflepuff and everything but what about Zacharias Smith he's in Hufflepuff but it never said he was related to Henizipah...so is he or am i just being crazy?
I wish I could give you a better answer than this, but the truth is we readers just don't know for sure. I too noticed the connection and put two and two together figuring there to be a relation somewhere in the family tree due to the fact that you mentioned about both being Hufflepuff and Slughorns reminder that "it often runs in families", but not everyone would agree. We are free to speculate, though.

There is the small problem that Smith is one of the most common surnames in the UK. So the chance of them being related is actually quite low. But as it is the wizarding world it is possible. JK may have just used the surname because both are quite insignificant characters, not worthy of a proper surname.

Interesting really, and at least we know that she does have family. Maybe he's distantly related?
But like they've (^) said, we don't really know...maybe JK will release it one day, or maybe it's just a coincidence because Smith is pretty common.
