Yeah I think his problem was he didn't have the confidence he needed. His Gran was always telling him how he didn't live up to his parents and I think that made his self esteem be a lot lower. When he joined the DA and Harry taught him DADA spells and he became better at them I think that helped him start to realize that he really does have talent and that gave him more confidence. I think having the support of his friends also really helped him go from who he was in earlier books to the brave, powerfull guy he was later on.

Yes I think that this is exactly what will/has happened. Neville has always has had a lack of self confidence and bad luck. But now that harry and the gang have made him feel welcome, his self confidence has been increased a great deal.

Well that's exactly what happens. I mean by now you will all know what happens in the last book. Neville kills nagini. And in the film, there are a few parts where Neville gets to act the hero that aren't in the book. It's a great thing for Neville.
