Now that you have read Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows you will know all of the drama involved in the book. What we want to know is what bit(s) in the book took you by surprise the most?

Evil!Dumbledore, Harry's death, Ravenclaw's Horcrux... the epilogue (whatever )... the amount of Polyjuice Potion

Yea I agree! I was kinda surprised at Dumbledore's youth. Then again, he couldn't have gotten so brilliant if he didn't dabble in everything.

I was kind of taken under when Harry actually WAS a horcrux of a sort. Like everybody thought. I didn't think it would be true since everyone thought it was, but hey, there ya go.

What suprised me the most was the amount of people JKR killed off! Like, she killed off anyone and anything! Dobby, Moody, Tonks, Fred (that was a shocker!), Lupin. It was shocking.

What surprised me ?

* The high death toll. Some characters I thought would live didn't make it.
* Dumbledore's failings as a teenager. Surprised at his attitude towards his family and muggles before he was brought back to earth after the thing with Grindelwald and Dumbledore's sister.
* JKR using two swear words in the text (both appropriate in context coming from the characters, but she's never used swear words before I think).
* How short the 19 years later chapter was. I mean, what happened to a host of other characters that survived ???? Does anyone think "just one more sequel" ? OK, wishful thinking, but perhaps JKR may publish a "companion" to DH which explains what happened to the Hogwarts staff, the Weasleys, the Ministry of Magic, the senior Malfoys, the various magical creatures, etc.

I agree with Durro on the high death toll. As I got more into the book, I kind of expected someone to die at each new turn. It was kinda scary but then again, it's war and innocent people die.

Death Rate; How many people?

Molly-My god. She Swore. She Like went Mental!

Dumbledore! Well the man had to do everything before he came Super Dumbledore didn't he!

Tonks/Lupin- Well ...we all know about his little...ehh Tiff.

Harry being a Horcrux and basically the end.

Finding ot about his sister.

Being totaly right about Snape and ahrry naming his son after him!

DOBBY! I cried, I genuinely did. And I don't cry often.

Kinda had a thought about Horcrux Harry, but it still surprised me.

Tonks and Lupin. Awwwww come on! She could have left them.

Dumbledore's shady past.

Neville essentially becoming the leader of a resistance force.

Peeves singing something nice for once!

Tonks and Lupin....both them getting together and having an ickle metamorphwolf, and then them dying....

1. Draco's Mom not exposing that Harry was in fact alive.

2. The turn around in Kreacher once Harry bestow the fake locket to him.

3. All the deaths. I never dreamed she would kill Hedwig or Dobby. I knew a Weasley would die but I thought it would be Percy.

4. I was also very shocked about the epilogue, plus its short length, content and such were my best dispointment too.

I would say...how low the death toll was, and how minor the characters she killed were.

Also how incredibly boring Voldemorts death was.

The fact she'd built up many important allies in the previous books and yet failed to use most.

Where. Was. Fawkes? After all the stress on loyalty to Dumbledore, i can't help but think a Phoenix would have been useful.

I was expecting more. You can tell i'm disappointed can't you!

Well, I was going to start to say a lot of things, but realized that starlightangel above me had already said a lot of what I was going to say. If I were to say one thing that surprised me the most, I would agree with many others and say it would be the lack of a major death. I too am slightly disappointed.

So much surprised me it would take me ages to type it all, so I'm going to stick with the one that no one's yet mentioned...

Percy's return. It was too fast, and I feel they accepted him back too quickly too. He just seemed to pop out of nowhere, apologise, then he was welcomed back with open arms. I don't know if it was the appropriate moment to bring him back into it, or at least an appropriate length of time to address the issue. I feel more time could have been spent on it.
Then again, I was extremely tired at the time, so maybe I should read the book again after I've had some sleep before I post my thoughts...I'm sure there's plenty I've missed in my rush to read how it all ends!

I have to agree, Percy's return.

In my head I saw the passageway and people entering like, "It's Luna! It's Ginny! It's...what the heck, Percy?"

I was very upset when Bellatrix was torturing Hermione but now Hermione is still the best character... She is a true Gryffindor becuase she was brave.

Hmm. A list of things.

* Molly- OMG! God Molly! She was amazing but I don't think she has ever been like that before!
* Hermione being tortured- She was amazing during this! Refused to give up ANY information and was just incredible.
*Fred- *CRYCRYCRYCRYCRY* I was so sad at this! I did not believe him to be the one to die.
*Percy- I was glad that he was back but it was kind of random when he showed up.

FRED! THAT HIT ME LIKE A TRUCK IN AN ALLEYWAY! I never saw that coming, it was so sad, I can't even explain, He was my favourite twin!
Voldermort's death was incredibly boring and quick, not dramatic at all.
Harry being a horcrux and that whole kings cross thing, that was just weird.
Snape! Aww, I thought he would be good but him loving lily? I didn't actually see that coming.
Dumbledore's family and craze for power! How random
The fact that when all 3 hallows were collected, nothing extremely cool happened, like at all. And the fact that the hallows were so randomly added to the plot, they came out of no where!
Percy's return
THE FACT THAT HARRY DID NOT RESSURECT FRED WHEN HE HAD THE STONE! HOW MEAN!!

1. Duddly! He was kinda normal. That a shock.
2. The things that Dumbledore hid from Harry.
3. Lupin actually married Tonks.
4. I noticed that Lupin is now being called, "Remus." but is still said as "Blah, blah, blah," said Lupin. Or something like that.
5. Ron left them that didn't seem like Ron to me. I mean, he came back, but I can't really see him in that postition of leaving.
6. Kreacher! Harry was nice to him (bless the living Potter's heart!)
7. Dobby DIED!!!!!!!!
8. Fred!!! I never he would, according to that book written by MuggleNet ( read it at the libaray) Dobby and Fred had good chances of living!
9. Percy--he came back, and accpeted that he was a prat! That was funny, but not really expected.
10. I think that the most surprsing thing was that Molly cursed at Bellatrix. "You -----"

2. falling in love with kreacher in the end

6. Fred dieing i had no idea....that hit me almost as hard as tonks and lupin

9. Dumbeldore and his crazy shady past.....ouch
10. The sad truth about snape..i feel so ba that he has to die like he did now.
11. The malfoy family like caving in...and helping the order

Dumbledore.

That was the most shocking thing I had NEVER imagined in the book. It was beyong belief. He was a liar, power-hungry, selfish, private man, and I saw him fully differently. I mean with all that about Ariana, and that he seeked the Deathly Hallows for himself totally let my jaw hit the floor I was not expecting nothing NEAR to that! I thought Dumbledore would be kept in the high 'the most amazing wizard' title, and he fell far from that in my opinion with this book

It was explained in the book, that he could not. The dead belong with the dead. There would be no use in wasting time on a lost cause. He was not being mean, he was using his brain.

Another thing that surprised me, that Snape and Lily knew each other from outside of Hogwarts. That was something, i thought they were just close...not that close.

Lupin/Tonks' deaths. I dunno if i missed the bit where they die... but having them on the table with Fred - shocked me.

and when Wormtail was strangled by the silver hand.

1. Snape was GOOD?! O.O!!!
2. Hehe Molly let loose. That rocked.

4. Snape had a girly Patronus
5. Dumbledore hung out with GRINDEWALD?
