Were you close, or waaaay off the mark?



Warning: NO "I told you so" style posts. You have been warned, so will be immediately infractioned.

I can say I predicted 4 deaths, 3 ships (still not sure about the fourth one), 1 of my theories was right, everything else was a complete disaster I didn't guess anything, that's why I loved the book - it was a surprise for me, so I really want to thank JK for doing this amazing job.

The plotline was tricky as well, where did they get so many?.. oh, nevermind
Oh, and I knew there would be more Pensieve scenes which was a relief to me

I got a lot of them right. Go me

It took me 12 hours, but I finally finished it. Whew ! It was a rollicking read with plenty of action and surprises. Anyhow, for the purposes of this thread...

Things that I managed to get right...

* Harry was accidentally made a horcrux during the first attack by Voldemort
* That Harry would choose between what was right and what was easy and would sacrifice himself.
* Voldemort using Harry's blood was significant and would aid in his downfall.
* Snape was in love with Lily and defected to the Order out of remorse.
* Harry having Lily's eyes helped cement Snape's cooperation.
* Snape was a spy for the Order.
* Dumbledore's death was arranged between Snape and Dumbledore as Dumbledore was dying anyhow and it was used to ingratiate Snape back into the Death Eaters.
* That an attack would occur during the wedding
* That a Weasley Twin would die
* That there would be more than just two deaths - JKR said that there would be 2 extra deaths and one reprieve.
* That Neville would survive and go on to teach Herbology
* RAB was Regulus Black
* That the two way mirror would feature, but not to communicate with Sirius

Things that I guessed wrong.....

* That Lily's job would be important (it didn't feature)
* The nature of the Deathly Hallows (I thought it was a place and not 3 objects)
* That the veiled curtain in the Department of Mysteries would feature again (it didn't)
* That Neville would take out Bellatrix. (Mrs Weasley did)
* That Ron would die (he didn't)
* That Dudley would do magic in desperate circumstances (he didn't)
* That Hermione would teach at Hogwarts (her job isn't mentioned I think)
* That Lupin would survive (I'm still sad at this one being wrong).
* That Snape would survive and become headmaster (Doh !)
* That Harry would die and stay dead (close, but not quite.)

I got a lot of them right. Some of them where:

1.Draco Malfoy lives
2.Dumbledore was killed on his own orders
3.Voldemort would DIE
4.lupin and Tonks would die.
5.Snape loving Lily
6.R.A.B.

I had others, but I cant think of them. I'll finish posting them later.

I got the RAB one right, Lupin dying, Snape loving Lily, Voldy turning mouldy (Go Peeves! Haha!).

I didn't expect Fred to die! *wail* I love Molly! She totally kicked Bellatrix's butt! I wished Bellatrix died in a more explosive way. She totally deserved that!

i predicted SNAPE was good adn he was!

i knew Voldemort would die and i was sure harry wouldnt!

I got the R/Hr right, but could it be anything else? I got Draco sacrificing himself wrong, Snape was good, got that right...I kinda got Harry dieing right, bearing in mind what happened.

I guessed right on all the majors, including whether or not Harry was a Horcrux, if Harry would live or die, the identity of the Horcruxes, etc. The only biggie I missed was the identity of the Deathly Hallows. I completely missed that 100%! GO JO GO!

Only a few...

1. Snape was Dumbledore's man through and through
2. R.A.B. = Sirius' brother
3. The horcrux from Ravenclaw's was the diadem Harry had seen in the Room of Requirements.

Oh, and I was sure Harry will survive.

That's all.

what I knew for sure is that Remus, Peter and Snape would die as a last reminder of the Marauders era and the first war, I just felt it, it was a really strong feeling
that's how I felt while making my av and sig and it creeped me out to know how true it was... I love them more than anyone else in the book (I really hope the Pensieve scene in OotP makes it to the DVD cut scenes, I've been waiting for it!), they are a true family, they remind me of people I know, of my parents, of my friends and since I loved them that much I knew they had to go... this chapter just had to be finished to open a new one

What I Got Right

- That RAB was Regulus Black, even if I got his middle name wrong.
- That Remus would die
- That Wormtail would die
- That Harry was a Horcrux
- One of the Weasleys would die
- That the Deathly Hallows weren't the same thing as Godric's Hollow, contrary to popular belief on the cbbc newsround message boards.

Things I Got Wrong

- Harry would die, and stay that way
- Either Ron or Hermionie would die
- JK wouldn't bother to make Remus and Tonks go further (and I'm glad I was wrong!)
- Professor McGonagall would die

Things I Never Ever Imagined, Good Or Bad

Good -
- Remus and Tonks getting married.
- Tonks having baby Teddy!
- Snape was good.
- Molly would swear loudly at Bellatrix LePoop! *go Molly!*

Bad -
- Tonks dying *waaaah!*
- Mad-Eye dying
- Every other goodie who I didn't think would die, dying. But Tonksy and Mad Eye come first.

Okay, personally, I was slightly ticked about RAB being Regulus...it seemed entirely too obvious, and hoped JK could've come up with something better.

Snape being good was such a relief, and the whole unrequited Lily-love was excellent as well.

I also predicted Harry being a Horcrux, but expected him to die forever.

Things that did come true:

The ships - R/Hr + H/G etc.
Snape being good
Voldermort Dying

Things that did not come true:
Harry dying
Twins staying alive to carry on with WWW
and lots more that I cannot think of.

Basically J.K. did well on this book, I never expected the Deathly Hallows to be objects, it is all quite amazing how it came together. And Snapes patronus? a doe? how sweet! What was Dumbledore's patronus and boggart? did we ever find out or did i just miss it?

Things i got right--

1. Draco lives
2. Harry Lives
3. The ships
4. Harry being a horcurx
5. That deathly hollows was not the same place, as where harry was born.

Things i had no idea would happen--

1. Lily playing a huge part
2. Snape Loving lIly
3. So many people i love dying--(T/L)!!!
4. Tonk's baby boy
5. That Deathly hollows was three things and not an actually place

Everything I said noooo thats not true! came true!! EVERYTHING XD -such as a Tonks/Lupin wedding, Snape loving Lily and that Harry is in fact the 7th Horcrux- i sucked at the prediction game

Honestly, very few of my predictions came true. I was very undecided on every major issue, so I didn't really have any great predictions.

I was kind of 50/50 as far as predications go:

Things I got right:

- RAB being Regulus Black *I think we all guessed that one*
- That the remaining marauders would die; RIP Remus *cries*
- Harry the 7th Horcrux and he would still survive
- Voldemort's use of Harry's blood would be significant
- the final battle taking place at Hogwarts
- One of the Weasley sons would die; RIP Fred *cries*
- Snape being good, and being desparately in love with Lily
- Dumbledore was already dying and his death was planned
- Snape Dies
- Draco lives
- Neville using the sword
- the R/H, H/G ships

Things I Got Wrong

- Harry, Ron & Hermione not going back to Hogwarts
- Mrs Weasley kills Bellatrix
- the Ministry being completely overrun
- the trio survives
- all 3 Malfoys survive! *WHAT!*
- the Deathly Hallows *I was way off*
- Tonks dies; RIP Dora *cries*

i got all the ships right, and a lot of the details like r.a.b. the only things i got wrong were that i thought snape would live, hermione would die, and i wa completely sure harry wasnt a horcrux.

I guessed that Snape would die, but I hoped Harry would die and stay dead too.

OK Imma just make a nice neat list to clear my brain.

Guessed right :
- Harry conqued Moldy Voldy
- Ron and Hermione SNOGGED
- Harry and Ginny SNOGGED
- the locket WAS the one that was vaguely mentioned in OotP
- RAB was Regulus... but that one was kind of easypeasy
- Mad-Eye snuffed it
- all four Mauraders are at their rest
- one of the Weasleys died
- the trio survived
- Snape died AND was good all along

Guessed wrong :
- Harry kind of died...
- it was FRED who was the Weasley who died!
- nope, Harry actually did not return to school
- Bellatrix didn't elope with Voldy like she so wanted to. Well, OK, I never thought it would happen. But still...

Probably a bit more but I can't remember any more.

guys, can I ask why you all thought th Deathly Hallows were a place? I mean, it was obvious it would be something solid and connected with death I just don't get it

oh, also I always knew Snape and Draco were good

I thought that Harry would be a horcrux but I didn't think it would be an accident. I also thought that Voldemoret would die but didn't think there would be that many deaths!

The horcrux Harry and who wins between Voldie and Harry. Mmmhmmm.

Hmm I didn't write down my predictions in one place, but from what I can remember...

Things I got right:
Snape/Lilly
Harry!Horcrux
Last battle at Hogwarts
A Weasley dying.

Things I got wrong:
Harry living (although he *kinda* did die).
Harry not returning to Hogwarts at all until the final battle.
A 'happily ever after'.
