Hogwarts RPG Name: Paige Wilson Fourth Year | Harry Potter: The New Generation J.K Rowling has left Harry Potter with the characters needed to start a new generation series. With James, Albus, Lily, Rose, Hugo, Teddy, Scorpious and Victorie it is perfect for J.K to pick up where she left off when she wants to.
What do you think about the idea of a new generation Harry Potter? Is it a good idea or a bad idea? Will other authors want to pick the characters and take over writing the series? Opinions Please!

Bad idea. I say that although we want more Harry Potter, we don't really because then it would just drag things out. I wouldn't mind an extra (little, plot-less) book to tell what happened to the wizarding world, it's people, cities, stores, creatures, etc. Another series though? She would never write and if someone else was to start it after her death, then they should be banned from the earth. This is her series, not anyone else's, not even her kids.

I think it wouldn't be a good idea ... The series is about Good versus Evil, and with evil gone the story would not hold that same way it had before.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Paige Wilson Fourth Year | I thought the same thing, the idea of a new generation sounds terrible. But then why did J.K. leave it at such a point where it would be so simple to start a new series? She must have plans, I'm thinking. But I wouldn't like it, I'd read it, but I wouldn't like it. |

Well, I don't think you can say that evil is ever truly gone. Remember DD's comment: 'Only when you keep fighting a losing battle can evil ever be held at bay' or something like that. However, I disagree strongly with a continuation. While I would certainly read them and probalby enjoy them, I don't think they could ever be as good as the first 7. However, this certainly does give many FF writers something to write about.

As much as I would love a second generation...I feel it would never be nearly as good if someone picked up from there. And, also...the name 'Albus Severus' just doesn't work for me...it doesn't 'ring'.

I honestly think it'd be over kill to do a Harry Potter new generation thing because there's only one Harry Potter and it just wouldn't be the same. Even if a new author put their spin on it it'd never match up to the originals.

I think she did this so that the magic of Hogwarts could grow and ebb in the minds of people all around the world for people who have read the books. They will know that Harry has survived and that Voldemort really did die!

| Ultimate Potterite Original original I think that it should be kept as it is, with 'Deathly Hallows' as the final Harry Potter book. I'm not sure it could get any more amazing than it already is, so it would be so much better not to try and accidentally end up ruining something that it so amazing. Leave it as is. |

I think it would be nice if she wrote a book just clarifying some things concerning the Wizarding World in general and such. But not a 'New Generation' books. Ok, maybe she could say something like 'James is (insert age)', 'Lily is (insert age)' and blah blah blah so that we could know a bit about each of them but not develop it into a plot. I would much rather to have a Marauders book

what amazes me is that everyone here in this thread longs for more Harry Potter but as we are all so dedicated to the series and love it so much we are willing to sacrifice our yarning and leave it here.
i agree making more will drag it out. except what confuses me is that JK really didnt want other authors to take over the series but the way she eneded it practically invites them too.

| Well, I think JK has made it obvious that she doesn't want to continue, even puting her views through Harry's mind. In Chapter 36, The Flaw in the Plan, Harry says, "I've had enough trouble for one lifetime." JK is finished with Harry.

It's like those movies that have 87193982 sequels (um, land before time, anyone? zenon?). They're good in the beginning, but by expanding the series it becomes less interesting. Rare things are more valuable; I think it's sort of similar. Not knowing every detail makes things interesting.

| I didn't think it was a good idea; it was the perfect way to start a new series, but she has no plans for that so it was rather pointless and off the plot... and she made it clear she doesn't want other authours doing spin-offs but yet she made it like an invite... like a bone for a pack of dogs...
I mean, I saw the epilogue being more of a chat between Ron, Hermione, Harry, and even Ginny and Neville or something, and just the whole 'what's up?' kind of thing. I dunno, like they haven't seen each other in a few months and they're catching up. I didn't see the whole New Generation thing...
With the Marauders book, that would be much better than a New Generation - we could get to know the past Lily, James, Lupin, Pettigrew, 'Snivellus', etc. It'd be better than creating a whole new Golden Trio kind of thing... I'd read a Marauders story anyday actually! That'd be fun...
In a sense she was beckoning that with the memories Harry saw of Snape and Lily... and just Snape overall (in the chapter 'The Prince's Tale', it was a perfect opening to what'd make a great Marauders book with the memories harry saw of Snape in Hogwarts I think)

Not a fan of that idea, I think the adventures of Harry Potter has been explained. I do however think it would be a mavelous idea to generate more books based on this wizarding world. Terry Prachett has designed most of his books around the discworld. Maybe a prequel which would be adults books based around the time Voldermort became known and what happened the first time around from the orders point of view or something.
Another view would be to create a story based around maybe the Bauxbaetons / Durnstrang contients. I think JK could bring a string of books out based on the Wizarding world she has created they just shouldnt be story's based around Harry or his kids.

Second | I wouldn't like the idea of anyone making "The Next Generation".
I mean just leave as is, it would drag out if she kept going.
Could probably make a short story on what happened to the wizarding world
once voldie was gone but that's even pushing it!! DON'T NEED TO CONTINUE!!! |

| In Love with Touz | | Lil Mikky-Mu I think J.K. Rowling ended it that way to really tie things up and show that Harry achieved happiness, not to continue the story. It's done, it's over. Quote:

Agreed. I think that it's a testament to Ms. Rowling - she made us care a lot about the characters, but we're ready to let it rest; she has our respect and that's what keeps us from clamouring for more.

That's right...I didn't like it so much..I preferred it to end with the characters in their age not after 19 years with kids..

But there must be a reason she ended it like. Part of me thinks that she wouldn't just end it like that for no reason other than pure entertainmesnt. But the other part says she did it just for that. She wanted the give her rans some insight of what happened to everyone after it and that was the only reason.
Really... time will only tell. |

I didn't really fancy the epiloque either...I acually thought she'd do something like tell a little about their future and not only about these characters.
But to the question...I'd hate it if JKR or somebody else would make another generation of Harry Potter. I mean Voldemorts dead and I doubt you'd feel enough hate f shed just come up with another evil person (or monster). Anyway...I can't imagine people would see it as Harry Potter stuff anymore, since there wouldn't be the same characters and probably not Harry Potter who would have any adventures.
Just can't imagine it...I really think it'sbest for the books, that you can imagine the furthur future of them by yourselves!

I loved the epilouge, but i don't think that anouther seris would be good, but she has said she might make an encylopedia about what happens after DH like minveria becoming headmisstress and other stuff...its all in the news place. now that would be a good idea, not a new sereis though
