| Do you think Snape truely redeemed himself?
Harry Potter named one of his kids after proffesor Snape for being very brave and standing up to Voldemort by being a spy for Dumbledore, but do you think that doing this redeemed himself for telling Voldemort about the prophecy and having that lead to Harrys parents death. Also if he loved Lily so much why do you think he was always so mean to Harry

He was mean to Harry because he was an excellent actor. He couldn't give away his true feelings towards Harry and tell him about his relationship between him and lily because it was dumbledores orders not to tell harry.

Snape loved Lily, but I believe his attitude towards Harry also stemmed from the fact that he was James' son, among other reasons.

He wasn't acting, he freely admitted his dislike even to Dumbledore, who he did not need to 'act' in front of. His disdain was real.

^^I agree. His hatred towards Harry was because he was James&Lilys son..Also it was a painful reminder to Snape about how his actions led to Lilly being murdered.
And yes. I do believe Snapes actions redeemed himself. Over the years Snape put his life at risk in order to get info for Dumbledor..which in end result helped Harry destroy Voldy. |

snape hated harry because he was james son and he really disliked james for several reasons:he was one of the marauders who bullied him during his years at hogwarts and he married lily whom he was in love with.
snape saw james in harry so he treated him cruelly, although despite his hatred towards harry he still protected him because he loved lily and by that I conclude that snape has truly redeemed himself

Snape hated Harry because he let his hatred of James cloud his vision. I also think that seeing Lily's eyes on his worst enemy's body was torture for him.
Snape wasn't protecting Harry out of the goodness of his heart. As much as I love Snape, he was only protecting Harry out of his love for Lily. If he didn't love Lily, he wouldn't care about Harry. He wasn't able to see that behind the physical similarities Harry had to James, to see that Harry had Lily's personality and heart. I also think he was guilty because he gave Voldemort half of the prophesy, causing the Potters' deaths.
Despite this, I do think Snape redeemed himself. Time after time he played spy, risking his life. I'm sure he's had to do some torture, and be tortured as well. Snape died for the Light, just like many others. Despite his flaws, I do think Snape deserves the title: Hero.

I believe he did. He truly loved Lily and deep down inside he cared about Harry... He just couldn't demonstrate this secret affection because it would remit him of James Potter and that was too much for him. Snape is just an unloved person and needs to be forgiven as well.

Yes he truly loved lily. He would have done anything for her; including keeping his archbenemy safe.
